io9 has delivered on providing a collection of interviews that give us the inside scoop on some upcoming films. Everything is considered a spoiler, so under a spoiler cut they go!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Hamill says on Disney Rewards Insider: "In ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ Luke has lost confidence in his ability to make good choices. It haunts him to the core. But he hasn’t gone to the dark side. This isn’t an evil version of him. But it’s still an incarnation of the character I never expected. It has pulled me out of my comfort zone. It’s a real challenge."

It: Chapter 2
Jessica Chastain to Screen Rant on playing adult!Beverly: "Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen."

Aquaman
Jason Momoa spoke to ComicBook.com: "Surpassing Justice League, this moment in time is his call to become king. The only thing that can save Atlantis is me fighting my own brother. There’s a big battle, and there’s an epic [fight]. It’s also a big road movie, because we travel all over the world. It’s got that Star Wars quality of gigantic ships and guys riding sharks. It’s going to be this whole world you’ve never seen before. You’re going to see him start as this guy who probably rides bikes, works on cars. You get to see him this one way as kind of a dirty, dark, drunkard, and then turn into this regal king."

Netflix's Big Mouth Writers Discuss Season One's Puberty Themes

0
0

  • Show writers Jessi Klein and Andrew Goldberg discuss how the show is meant to show the intricacies of puberty for boys as well as girls

  • Despite animation taking a long time to produce, the writers changed their material to better reflect the realities young girls face with unwanted attention and harassment in school after the Weinstein abuse stories began to come out in the media

  • It was co-creator Jennifer Flackett's idea to show the talking vagina after discussions with the female writers of the show

  • Writer and voice actor Jessi Klein was responsible for the episode that shows the character Jessi getting her first period in white shorts while on a field trip to the Statue of Liberty Klein's own elderly Jewish grandmother was happy when she found out Klein got her first period (on Yom Kippur) and slapped her across the face

  • Has Maya Rudolph, Jenny Slate and Jessica Chaffin go into the recording booth together so they can bounce ideas off each other and improvise

  • Used "Girls & Sex" by Peggy Orenstein as a reference point for certain scenes

  • Encourages parents to watch with their young teens and talks about parents telling them they watched it with their kids Considering some of the crap the Hormone Monster(Nick Kroll) and Jason Mantzoukas says and does, this isn't that great of an idea

  • I don't really know what to make of this show. Maya Rudolph as the Hormonstress was a bright spot and I watched for her.

Speculations Begin on Which Serial Killers Will Appear on Season 2 of Netlix's Mindhunter

    0
    0

  • Mindhunter season one featured real life serial murderers Ed Kemper, Monte Ralph Rissell, Jerry Brudos, Richard Speck and Darrell Gene Devier Retired agent John Douglas whom Jonathan Groff portrays as Holden Ford, actually employed the tactics shown in the interrogation scene to catch Devier

  • Executive producer David Fincher mentioned season two might feature Charles Manson & David Berkowitz (son of sam)

  • Dennis Rader, the BTK killer, was teased without explanation for multiple scenes through the first season Edit:It is presumed that the first episode featuring the unsolved murders of the mother & son will be attributed to Rader through creative liberties(so that the team may study & follow his later kills). Rader was not apprehended until 2005 and this is a period specific show, so it most likely will NOT time jump just to show them apprehending him during s2 at least (possibly in the later seasons should the show make it that far)

  • Possible cases are: The Stocking Strangler, David Carpenter, Carmine Calabro Don't look Calabro up if you have a weak stomach and hate stories about police being racist as fuck

  • Possible interviewees are: Charlie Davis, John Wayne Gacy (ugh), Herbert Mullin(active in same time/place as Ed Kemper), Ted Bundy(ugh) and Ed Gein

  • Go ahead and treat this as your true crime discussion post please!

Team Taylor Swift is Sending Copyright Takedowns For Posting Album Artwork!

Fresh off her freedom of speech scandal / feud with the ACLU, Taylor Swift continues to threaten litigation like the Republican American that she is! Has it Leaked, the website that simply reports leaks but doesn't post links, has shown the amount of album cover infringement threats that have been sent out on Twitter via BMR.

She eventually posted the tracklist herself, only after getting a bunch of nobodies banned.

BUT as a major "fuck you" to her bullshit, here are the tone-deaf leaked BACK covers of her reputation magazine, simulating magazine covers that she and her wonderbread scandals were barely on in the first place! Also, there are some more cat jokes, because that hasn't gotten old!

The Green Ranger & Jean-Claude Van Damme Throw Hands at a Con

    0
    0

The original Greenand WhitePower RangerJason David Frank was in a heated altercation with Jean Claude Van Damme over the weekend at La Mole Comic Con in Mexico City. The two have apparently hated each other since exchanging nasty words back in 1995 at the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie premiere.

According to Frank, Con management asked if he would mind sharing his dressing room with Van Damme, to which he agreed. When Frank returned to his room after a long afternoon of kicks, flips, and autographs, he was not allowed to enter the room by Van Damme's security.

Con officials found the Ranger a new room and all was fine until Van Damme's team approached him to ask if he would pose for a photo with the other actor. Frank once again agreed and was met with an entire camera crew, shooting what appeared to be a reality show starring Van Damme. Frank alleges that Van Damme then accused the Ranger of bad mouthing him to the media, demanding that he apologize.

When the Ranger refused, Van Damme got violent. Watch the video @ comicbook.com.

USC Students calling for removal of Bryan Singer's name from cinema and media studies division

    0
    0

    • Film students at the University of Southern California are rightfully pissed off about Bryan Singer still having a career.

    • They are a petition for the removal of his name from their cinema and media studies division, known as Bryan Singer Division of Cinema & Media Studies

    • “Despite Singer’s philanthropic work for SCA, having his name attached to a division of the School of Cinematic Arts gives the impression that we, both as an institution and as members of the entertainment industry, value his financial contributions over the safety, respect and future of students. It sets a precedent of lenience for sexual criminals and further undermines the visibility and respect that victims of harassment and assault deserve,” the students wrote.

[SPOILERS] Sadie Sink (Max) responds to the Kiss Controversy after thinkpieces started popping up

    0
    0

    In summary:
    - During an episode of "Behind Stranger Things" (an aftershow) that featured the Duffer Brothers, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, and a few others, the host, Jim Rash, brought up the kiss between Lucas and Max. Sadie Sink states the kiss was never in the script. A Duffer Brother says that they added the kiss in because of Sadie's nervous reaction after they joked about it on the first day of filming the Snow Ball scene. She says she was "stressed out" the whole day, and that the kiss was filmed the following day. The brother says "it's your fault" to her.

In a previous episode, the cast (this time, including Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard) also talked about how nervous and anxious Sadie Sink was about the Lucas/Max kiss.

Here's the scene from the roundtable that people have been responding to:

    - Fans on Twitter understandably responded negatively to this sequence, especially since Sink wasn't really asked about anything else. This reaction gained traction.

    A paraphrase of Sink's response:

    - It was both Caleb and Sadie's first kiss, so of course she was nervous. She was never made to feel uncomfortable on the set, and the Duffer Brothers are very supportive and work to create a comfortable set environment. If she felt uncomfortable then she would not have gone through with the scene.

    - This next part is interesting: Source makes sure to double-down on getting a direct comment from Sink, and asks if she had been prepped prior to this short interview. At this shift, her publicist stepped in and told the interviewer her client had answered the question. The interview uncomfortably shifted to talk of skateboarding.

    Sources:12
Imo, I get why people felt the way they felt about this and the way it was discussed on the aftershow, but Idk about how about how healthy the media attention is for this kid. Media outlets reached out to her for comment, and Idk how helpful that is because if the experience was bad she'll be forced to rehash it, and if it wasn't that bad then the negative media attention could just upset her. :/

Michelle Pfeiffer rips into "systemic" abuse of women in Hollywood

    • In an interview with the BCC, actress Michelle Pfeiffer weighed in on the recent abuse scandals rocking Hollywood.

    • The Oscar-nominated actor was joined by her 'Orient Express' costar Olivia Colman, who agreed that the scandal has paved the way for a long-overdue discussion to be had.

    • She stated "I've had some experiences, I have to say, since this has all come out, there really hasn't been one woman that I talked to that hasn't had an experience and it just goes to show you how systemic it is."

    • "Where is that line betwen, 'Oh I got hit on?' and I was inappropriately touched?'"

Maureen O'Hara's 1945 account of misogynistic sexual misconduct in Hollywood goes viral

    0
    0

    • Maureen O'Hara (d. 2015) was an Irish actress best known for her work in such Old Hollywood films as 'How Green Was My Valley,' 'Miracle on 34th Sreet,' and 'The Quiet Man'

    • In a 1945 interview O'Hara, then 25, recounted her experiences of sexual harrassment at the hands of studio executives and the subsequent smear campaign as a result of her rejecting their advances

    • Pianist James Rhodes (@JRhodesPianist on Twitter) shared a scan of the interview, which has since gone viral, earning O'Hara posthumous praise for her courage and evidencing a longstanding issue within the film industry

"Irish film star Maureen O'Hara to-day charged Hollywood producers and directors with calling her 'A cold potato without sex appeal' because she refuses to let them make love to her, says the 'Mirror' New York correspondent.

"'I am so upset with it that I am ready to quit Hollywood,' Maureen says. 'It's got so bad I hate to come to work in the morning.

"'I'm a helpless victim of a Hollywood whispering campaign. Because I don't let the producer and director kiss me every morning or let them paw me they have spread word around town that I am not a woman–I am a cold piece of marble statuary. I guess Hollywood won't consider me as anything except a cold hunk of marble until I divorce my husband, give my baby away and get my name and photograph in all the newspapers. If that's Hollywood's idea of being a woman I'm ready to quit now.'"

ONTD Original™: 20 "Evil Gingers" from Movies & Television

    0
    0

There is a recurring trope in books, movies, and television about red-haired people being evil or shady. This stems from the perpetual real-life theory that red heads, or gingers, are soulless and untrustworthy. Well, here are twenty fictional movie and television red heads that don't really help debunk the "evil ginger" myth.

Note: This post and its theme were suggested by arilicious. I merely put the post together. I do not believe that gingers are inherently evil and soulless.

Big Redis the former cheerleading team captain of Rancho Carne High School. She was stealing routines from another team and passed it off as her own in the hit teen movie Bring It On.

The villain in The Incredibles, Syndrome, is an evil mastermind that really shows how despicable he is when he risks his colleague Mirage's life. Although, Mirage seemed okay with Syndrome's murdering of "supers" up to that point.

In the lesser known British sitcom, Siblings, Charlotte Ritchie (best known for playing Oregon in Fresh Meat) plays the narcissistic Hannah. She pretty much doesn't care about anyone else's wants or needs. If she doesn't get her way, she acts out in savage and often inappropriately hilarious ways.

Professor Souichi Tomoe's loyal assistant Kaolinite was ruthless and calculated. She was so powerful that it took seven Sailor Soldiers as well as Tuxedo Mask to take her down. Even then, she didn't die.

These red-haired women were the resident female antagonists in Melrose Place during the primetime soap's peak. Sydney was more prone to being emotionally opportunistic while Kimberly would literally blow the place apart.

The 1990 comedy Problem Child didn't really help those who are unsure about adopting kids. The kid in question, Junior, is an absolute nightmare whose hijinks are more disconcerting than funny.

In the Scott Piligrim vs. the Worldgraphic novel, Lucas Lee appears to have jet black hair. Yet in Chris Evans' movie portayal, Lucas has some red in his hair. Ginger or not, Lucas was an entertaining villain.

The antagonist in Stephen King's 'Children of the Corn' story is the immediate insubordinate of the evil cult entity Isaac. The actor that played Malachai in the 1984 movie adaptation was a strange one to look at.

Scut Farkus in the 1983 holiday classic A Christmas Story may have a face - and a name - that only a mother could love.

The sadistic babysitter, Vicky, in The Fairly Oddparents appears to be a big reason as to why Timmy has fairy godparents to begin with.

In the superior sequel to the 1985 Care Bears Movie, the titular heroes and their human allies battled a naughty spirit called Dark Heart. In the end, though, Dark Heart learned the error of his ways.
Fred's favorite scapegoat in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo was this red-haired bully appropriately named Red Herring. He was more annoying than evil, though.
Warwick Davis deserves everything for having to portray this disgusting little creature in the ten-year long horror franchise about a killer leprechaun.
Madame Medusa was the greedy villain from the 1977 Disney animated movie, The Rescuers. She's based on the The Duchess of Diamonds from one of the novels that The Rescuers is adapted from.
Poison Ivy is the alter-ego of Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley, an eco-terrorist who cares more about plantlife than humans.
Rachelle Lefevre and Bryce Dallas Howard respectively played Victoria, a ginger vamp villain in the film adaptations of 'New Moon' and 'Eclipse.'
It is difficult to explain why Dodger was so evil without spoiling the twist in the 2005 proto-slasher mystery Cry_Wolf. But don't be fooled - she definitely was an evil one.
People already hate clowns enough as it is. Then they add the red hair... Pennywise from Stephen King's 'It' wasn't evil because of the red hair. Pennywise was just evil.
Technically Chucky is a doll, and the serial killer whose spirit is inhabiting Chucky isn't a ginger. But when someone mentions "evil gingers," how can you not bring up Child's Play?
