Twitter promises changes after protests over Rose McGowan's suspension

  • On Thursday McGowan's twitter account was suspended

  • Public outcry was so great that by afternoon Thursday her account had been re-actived

  • Twitter claimed the official reason for this was because she had shared a private cell number however many women pointed out that their personal information had been leaked and they had recieved threats while twitter refused to ban their harassers

  • On Friday many women and men including Rose McGowan, Kerry Washington, Chrissy Teigan and Mark Ruffalo went silent for the day to protest twitter's policies

  • CEO Jack Dorsey is now claiming that new policies will be rolled out within the next two weeks that offer better protections to women being harassed and doxxed

  • McGowan is calling for Dorsey to start by removing white supremacist Richard Spencer from twitter

ONTD Original™ - Halloween Edition: 10 Classic Urban Legends as Told by 'Freaky Stories'

From 1997 to 2000, a low-budget and likely forgotten anthology by the name of Freaky Stories aired on YTV in Canada. It also aired on Fox Family from 1998 to 2001 in the USA. The basic format was two puppets, a dim-witted maggot named Maurice and ornery cockcoach Larry de Bug, would host a collection of several short animated segments in each episode. These "freaky stories" were usually based on urban legends, both common and obscure. Each segment started and ended with a narrator saying, "This is a true story. It happened to a friend of a friend of mine." Urban legends or urban myths are modern folk stories that are regularly shared as if they are true. The show's reimaginings of these tales were often more family friendly, especially in some cases where the source material had a macabre twist or adult themes. Here are just ten classic urban legends that were featured in Freaky Stories.

A Shot in the Dark
In preparation for a big date, a young woman tries to fast, but she can't resist eating something in the meantime. The only food in the house, though, is beans. She regrets this decision later. On the way to her date's car, the woman farts in the car and quickly airs it out her window as the guy walks around the car to the driver's side. Once the guy gets in, he introduces his date to his friends in the backseat.

Cat Food
A mother and son plan a dinner party, but they don't invite their neighbor. Before the party, the mother and son's cat eats some of the fish. They decide to not discard the fish and use it for the party since the cat only took a little bite. Later during the party, the son tells his mother that their cat is dead. They assume the fish is the cause, and everyone at the party has to go to the hospital for treatment. The neighbor that wasn't invited tells the mother and son the next day that she had accidentally run over the cat and left it on their doorstep. The fish never killed the cat, and none of the guests were ever in danger.

Graveyard Wager
A young boy accepts a dare to jam a knife into the grave of a killer at midnight. He does just that, but when he tries to leave after, he physically cannot move. He thinks the ghost of the killer has got him. As it turns out, the boy pinned his pants leg down to the ground with the knife.

Free Gas
A cheapskate regularly siphons gas from other cars. When he comes across an RV, he tries to siphon fuel, but nothing comes out of the tank. The oblivious RV owner later offers some gas to the stranger. As the cheapskate returns to where he was siphoning before, the RV owner stops him and says that that's actually the septic tank.
Ouija Board
In this variant of "The Hook" legend (a more traditional version was featured in another episode), a teenager decides to play a prank on her friends. Along with another friend, they use a Ouija board to scare their peers. As one teen uses the spirit board to set up the fake story of a hook-handed killer coming after them, her partner-in-crime excuses herself to use the bathroom. In truth, she pretends to be outside, scratching at the front door as if she was the hook-handed killer. The hoax is revealed, and the teenager that concocted the prank explains everything. Just then, her friend confesses that she never pulled off her bit in the joke - she had been talking on the phone with her boyriend. The front door opens to reveal a severed hook hanging on the knob.

Last Call
A woman's husband has a fear of being buried when he's still alive. Even in death. So he tells her that when he dies, a phone must be installed in his final resting place for up to a year. That way, he can call her if he turns out not to be dead after all. If he never calls after a year, they can declare him officially dead. The husband eventually dies and his wishes are carried out. The widow waits by her end of the phone line for almost a year despite everyone telling her to move on. She's offered to go on an all-expenses paid trip, but the leave date is on the last day of the year. As the widow goes on the trip, the phone finally rings...

Last Laugh
A girlfriend buys her boyfriend a lottery ticket for his birthday. The lottery ticket's numbers match the ones drawn on live TV during the birthday party. The boyfriend tells off his girlfriend and breaks up with her. The girlfriend reveals that it was all a joke - the numbers on the ticket are from the previous week's lottery drawing, which she had recorded on videotape and played at the birthday party.

Deep Forest Diver
Two agents are brought in to help a cop figure out why amidst a huge forest fire there was a scuba diver stranded in a tree. The scuba diver, with no recollection of how he ended up in the tree, claims not to have started the forest fire either. The agents never figure it out, but the cop's son has an idea: a plane that picks up water from a nearby lake to extinguish forest fires must have scooped up the scuba diver when he was swimming.

The Big Question
Two college students that prefer to goof off rather than study miss their big exam. They tell the professor an improvised lie about getting a flat tire and that's why they were absent. The professor agrees to a make-up exam. The students study non-stop and are prepared to ace the test. On the day of the exam, the professor separates the students by testing them in different rooms. The first question on their test is easy as the students actually studied this time. The next question is more difficult: "Which tire was flat?"

Safe at Home
A self-proclaimed fearless young girl left home alone for the weekend is comforted whenever her pet dog licks her toes from beneath her bed. As the evening progresses, the girl hears random noises that scare her. From under the bed, the dog licks her toes, reassuring the girl that all is fine. The girl finally investigates the clamor coming from the cellar. To her surprie, she finds her dog locked down there. So who was licking at her feet before? She looks outside to see a man walking away from the house, screaming "I can lick, too."

The actor Griffin Newman posted a series of tweets today revealing that he went against his morals to work on Woody Allen's next project. He says he chose to look the other way in favor of furthering his career and that he's been feeling guilty ever since, but that the Weinstein situation has prompted him to admit it. -Director Luca Guadagnino revealed he is planning a sequel to "Call Me By Your Name" for 2020. “I want to do a sequel because Timothée Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar, Esther Garrel – they are all gems,” said Guadagnino during a sit-down at the BFI London Film Festival.


-Would take place 7 years after this movie, not 15 years later in the US where Oliver is now married with a wife and children.
-Won't follow the book necessarily but said that Elio would not be a homosexual in the film.

Alleged~~ Child Sexual Predator Woody Allen “Sad” for Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein is pretty much solely responsible for reviving Woody Allen’s failing career after he was accused of molesting his daughter Dylan Farrow. Consequently, the BBC felt compelled to ask Woody’s opinion on the Weinstein scandal, I guess: "No one ever came to me or told me horror stories with any real seriousness. And they wouldn't, because you are not interested in it. You are interested in making your movie.” I mean, yeah, I wouldn’t entrust being sexually assaulted or harassed with an alleged pervert, but you’re not interested in it? It’s not of interest to you? Women being systematically abused isn’t of interest to an alleged predator? K! Also important to note: Mira Sorvino told Woody Allen’s son Ronan Farrow that Weinstein sexually harassed her while promoting Allen’s film “Mighty Aphrodite.”But he was only interested in making movies, so I guess he wouldn’t have cared if she confided in him.

He continues: "But you do hear a million fanciful rumours all the time. And some turn out to be true and some - many - are just stories about this actress, or that actor."Is he implying Weinstein is innocent or is he projecting himself into this story?

"The whole Harvey Weinstein thing is very sad for everybody involved. Tragic for the poor women that were involved, sad for Harvey that is life is so messed up.“ Sad! How will Harvey move on after traumatizing countless women, some of whom seem to report experiencing PTSD and lifelong trauma associated with the sex acts he forced on them.

Woody Allen also wants to warn people to be careful! “You also don't want it to lead to a witch hunt atmosphere, a Salem atmosphere, where every guy in an office who winks at a woman is suddenly having to call a lawyer to defend himself. That's not right either.” Hey moron, no one is conflating a wink with sexual assault and rape.

ONTD'er Beware, You're In For a Scare: 10 of the Best Goosebumps Episodes

Based on the best-selling books by R.L. Stine, "Goosebumps" was adapted into a television show for FoX Kids in the United States on October 27, 1995. The show ran for 4 seasons (74 episodes) and aired its last episode on November 16th, 1998. Since Sony's movie sequel "Goosebumps: HorrorLand" begins filming this month and Halloween is around the corner, this OP decided to come out of Originals retirement for this childhood classic in the month of October. Selecting ten episodes for this was rather difficult so I had to go with a combination of the classics as well as personal favorites. Grab your favorite "Goosebumps" book adaptation to throw at me and let's get into it shall we? In no particular order...


Night of the Living Dummy II
Villain: Slappy | Season 1 Episode 10 | Original Air Date: January 12, 1996
Amy Kramer's ventriloquist dummy. Dennis, keeps losing his head, literally. Her father surprises her with a new ventriloquist dummy named Slappy who she accidentally brings to life. Soon afterwards he begins framing Amy for things she didn't do but her family and friends do not believe her when she says it's her new dummy doing these things. It's up to Amy to stop Slappy and save her family before it's too late.

Jerry Hawkins moves to a new house and discovers a piano in the attic and starts taking piano lessons to impress a neighbor. But something is very odd about his teacher, Dr. Shreek, who keeps mentioning to Jerry how he has perfect hands.

Welcome To Camp Nightmare
Villain: The Counselors | Season 1 Episodes 5 & 6

Model Cameron Russell publishes sexual harassment experiences in the fashion industry

SEVERE TRIGGER WARNING: the accounts that have been published by Russell (on the request of each author's anonymity) are graphic and upsetting.

Model Cameron Russell (who you might remember from the incredibly popular 2013 Ted Talk, "Looks Aren't Everything. Believe me, I'm a Model") is using a hashtag on her personal Instagram (#MyJobShouldNotIncludeAbuse) that has picked up significant attention in the last few days detailing sexual harassment in the fashion industry, with over 50 submissions so far. Articles have been written in TheCut, Bustle, the Telegraph and the Independent but the buzz behind the story is significantly quieter than the current focus on Harvey Weinstein.

I am hoping to signal boost the issue by posting it here. Even though I hate to add to the flood of upsetting posts. I'm also hoping it qualifies as a post in terms of celeb-status!

- Nearly 20 years ago, Harvey called her away from an objectifying photoshoot to proposition her (in front of her publicist)
- Sarah Polley said no in part because she was not really an ambitious actress, but wonders how she might have reacted if she was
- Talks about how women are encouraged to exploit their sexuality then punished for doing so; are absent in technical roles in films. Also felt pressure to be "one of the guys" to try and cope.
- She tried to collab with other women in the industry on a comedy about worst experiences on set and they ended up cancelling because the stories were devastating
- She knew the other stories about Weinstein, but didn't know what to do because the prospect of making people actually care about it seemed impossible
- Ask what else were are turning a blind eye to - what have we been willing to accept and where will it stop?
