    They say that fame is fleeting and that appears to be the case for former X Factor winners Little Mix. The girl group have done well in the US with their album DNA peaking at number four in the charts, but they still get treated like everyone else back in the UK.

    Jade Thirlwall and Jesy Nelson were seen having to queue up to gain entry to trendy celebrity hotspot Mahiki on Thursday night.

    The Wings singers arrived at the nightclub ready to party and let their hair down, but rather than be ushered straight inside they had to wait.

    Other people in the queue didn't realise that they were standing in the presence of pop stars as the two singers didn't make any fuss.

    Jade, 20, looked lovely in her long and tight fitting print dress which she teamed with a pair of pink platform heels.

    Her bandmate Jesy, who was at the club to celebrate a friend's birthday, opted for a pair of high waist grey jeans and matched it with a grey crop top.

    The bottle red head clutched her handbag and mobile phone as she tried to gain entry to the club and looked slightly flustered at having to wait for a short time before entry.

    The girls eventually did get in the club but will perhaps next time choose to tag along with resident Mahiki party animal Pixie Lott.

    The 22-year-old was given the full VIP treatment as she arrived at the venue fresh from her trip at Ascot Ladies Day.

    Pixie, still wearing her floral dress and large black hat, was instantly recognised by security guards at the club and was taken straight inside.

    The Mama Do singer was even given a special escort from her car to make sure no passersby approached her for a picture or autograph.


    I can't believe they were forced to queue up, they've never had that problem before! They both look amazing, as well.

    Is it fair to call Miley Cyrus a racist just because she's twerking in her music video?

    The internet is not the most nuanced place. The flashier your title, the simpler your concept, the more pageviews, likes and shares your post will get. I'm not above it, just see my "Macklemore is a Feminist Who Proves Conclusively That Irony Should Be Dead" post. This was shared on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, everywhere. The headline alone said enough so anyone who shared it managed to be saying something about themselves that they thought reflected something cool. It's a bit "behind the curtain" of me to say this, but I also I think it is something everyone knows. The problem is, sometimes this desire for likes, pageviews and shares encourages otherwise great blogs to post something that is just shocking or reactionary, with no real purpose, that ends up being harmful. Earlier this week Linda Holmes over on Monkey See wrote about the problem of the Vice fashion spread which used models to depict female writers who had committed suicide. In her piece, she acknowledged that Vice was probably baiting her, and all of us, with this overtly horrifying spread and yet, she was going to take the bait, and respond, because it was worth it to her.

    Recently one of my favorite blogs, Jezebel, the blog that actually called out Vice on the suicide spread in the first place, has gotten very involved in their own sort of baiting: the cultural appropriation gambit. It's disappointing in a way because Jezebel has long been a feminist blog with an interesting and alternative perspective that seeks to raise the level of discussion around complicated issues of gender and race. But yesterday they posted this: "On Miley Cyrus, Ratchet Culture and Accessorizing With Black People." The article basically calls Miley Cyrus a racist for using things associated with black culture in her recent music video. Now, this isn't the first time that Jezebel has jumped on a young woman for supposed cultural appropriation. The last time we wrote about it, it was Michelle Williams the racist, because she was dressing in a fashion spread in a way that was reminiscent of Native American style.

    In Dodai Stewart's piece in Jezebel, she calls Miley out for the way she dresses, the way she dances and for having black back-up dancers because she is using people as props, saying: "In a white-centric world, putting white women quite literally in the center of the frame while women of color are off to the side is a powerful, disrespectful visual message, and it really must be said: Human beings are not accessories."

    Here's my issue, with this whole thing (most of which I wrote in the comments section of the piece by the way, due to getting fired up):

    First: I think it's ridiculous to call out a 20-year-old girl for experimenting with her identity and trying on different ways of being, even if her song is terrible. Twerking is a dance move that doesn't belong to anyone (even I like to do it!) and if the only people who are allowed certain moves are the exact race of the person who invented them then I guess every single ballroom dancer, salsa dancer, white person at Carnival, etc, is a racist.

  • Baby North West is less than a week old, but she already has friends in high places.

    Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple Computer who long worked alongside the late Steve Jobs, is one of the few who has met the world's most watched newborn.

    He revealed on CNN's "Piers Morgan Live" on Thursday that the encounter was actually Kim's idea in honor of West's 36th birthday on June 8.

    "Just because [Kanye] was interested in technology and companies, she, as a birthday present, she had me come up there to meet him," Wozniak said, although he did not disclose details of the meeting.

    So what did little Nori look like?

    "I have seen a lot of babies, and a baby represents the love between the people, and that meant more to me and the love that Kim was showing to Kanye," he said.

    Huh? OK. Far be it from us to question a genius!

    Wozniak also complimented Kim.

    "Unbelievable that a woman would do that," Wozniak told Morgan. "I mean, I just think she is doing everything she can to show her love to a man."

    “No money, no family / Sixteen in the middle of Miami.” These are the starkly candid lyrics of Iggy Azalea’s new single “Work.” But talking to the Australian rapper, you quickly learn that she was, in fact, only fifteen years old when she first left her native town of Mullumbimby to move, without any parental supervision, to the United States. “I’d known since about eleven that I wanted to live in America,” she says. “At this point, I feel like I’m more from California than Australia. L.A. is my home.” In the eight years since Azalea’s stateside arrival, she has established herself as an unmistakable member of rap music’s next generation, joining ranks with the likes of Angeleno Kendrick Lamar, her recent collaborator Wale, Wiz Khalifa, and A$AP Rocky, a former flame whose name Azalea has tattooed, and crossed out, on her left pinky finger. Needless to say, the platinum blonde Azalea is the only female among them.

    And it’s a distinction she owns. Her cultivated look could best be described as aggressively feminine. At her Bowery Ballroom concert earlier this week, for instance, she wore red lacquered stiletto nails, bangs gelled up like Cameron Diaz in There’s Something About Mary, and mid-show removed a floral A-line skirt to reveal matching hot pants while whipping her long ponytail like a helicopter. Her unabashed façade is matched only by her lyrics, which accompany singles like “Pu$$y” and “Murda Bizness.” “I naturally want to be provocative,” Azalea says of carving out her own niche. “[Women] don’t have a lot of ways to be portrayed and more times than not, you feel like you’ve been put in the wrong box.” She feels that the rapper Angel Haze, who has openly discussed her bisexuality, for instance, is a kindred spirit. “She’s more of a tomboy and I’m a girly girl, but I’d love to do something with her.”

    Until that collaboration, look forward to Azalea’s debut album, The New Classic, out in the fall, and a summer tour that continues with two shows in Los Angeles next week. Also on the horizon? A music video visually inspired by Blade Runner and Showgirls: Azalea is obsessed with both.

    In addition to belting out soulful, chart-topping hits, John Legend has also been vocal in recent months on the nation’s controversial marijuana laws.

    During a recent appearance on HuffPost Live, the “Made to Love” crooner vocalized his thoughts on the weed debate.

    “I think we need to legalize marijuana. There’s no good reason to continue prohibition, and we need to consider ending prohibition in general,” Legend told HuffPost Live host Marc Lamont Hill. “I don’t know if prohibition has ever been an effective way of getting people not to use banned substances,” he went on to say.

    “They find a way to use them, criminals find a way to sell them, and a lot of people get killed. A lot of communities get destroyed because of the black market that comes up, because people want something and they find a way to get it ..."

    Everyone seems to love Boy Meets World. In fact, it’s left such an indelible mark on pop culture, it’s now returning to the fold with a much-anticipated sequel series, Girl Meets World.

    But series star Rider Strong doesn’t actually remember it that way at all — at least not during the former TGIF staple’s early years.

    “At the time, it was actually a little frustrating for us as a show because we would get good ratings, but we weren’t a hit the way that, say, Sabrina the Teenage Witch — which followed us — was,” the actor shared with TVLine at the Austin-based ATX Festival earlier this month. “Sabrina had better numbers than we did; Boy Meets World was always just ‘OK.’ … There was almost this [behind-the-scenes] sense that no one was really watching our show.”

    That all changed, recalled Strong, about halfway through its seven-season run, when “we just started making this show for ourselves in a way. We started doing meta jokes and things that would make us laugh, and I really think it paid off. Doing that built us a little bit of a cult following that’s [now] lasted all this time.”

    Referring to BMW‘s recent mainstream resurgence, the actor mused: “I’d like to [believe] we have maintained a fanbase more so than a lot of other ’90s shows because of that” — well, that and the fact that “everyone who was 12-19 at the time [the series was on the air] is now 25-35, and that‘s who controls culture today.”

    As for whether or not Strong ever relives his BMW glory days during its many daily syndicated airings, the actor offered up a playful denial.

    “I actually never watched the show when it was on the air,” he revealed. “It’s probably because I had my awkward teenage phase when it was on television. I did watch the second season with my family — I was around 14 years old — and when you’re at that age, you hate the way you look and talk, so I hated watching it.”

    Come to think of it, he added with a nostalgic laugh, “To this day if I watched Boy Meets World, I think I would still cringe.”

    Just when you thought all that bad blood between The Wanted and One Direction had naturally faded away into the background and we could move on to thinking about more important things, like what a giant jelly model of them all holding hands would look like, Max George opens his mouth and reveals something we're not sure his 'rivals' are going to be all that impressed with. Mainly as Max reckons that when he challenged the lads to sort things out face to face, 1D did a runner.

    According to Max, all ten lads actually had a near miss back when they were all in New York, but he reckons it was 1D who made a quick getaway to avoid the situation turning to some slaps in the car park.

    "That's the 100% honest truth," he told Fabulous magazine. "They got the car pulled up to the back of the stage and got straight in."

    Fighting talk there, but it slightly differs to what the Bradford Bad Boy and the Sasquatch have had to say about things recently and speaking to The Metro only a couple of weeks Zayn said: "I already offered Max. I asked him if he wants to fight. I've already said to him I'll fight him and he didn't want to."

    "It is such b*llocks because they will not live up to their world," Louis added, presumably with a flick of the fringe while picking stray sunflower seeds out of his Sasquatch coat of fur.
    An actual fight would be interesting, but leave Narry, Nathan, and Siva out of it.

    There’s an expectation in Hollywood that starring in a hugely successful movie – especially if it leads to a franchise – is naturally going to make its leading star one of the most famous working actors overnight. And why not? Surely their contributions are a large part of what made the film successful, fashioning a likeable, entertaining character – most often an every-man – to lead us through this often complicated, larger-than-life world.

    However, sometimes, for a multitude of reasons, the careers of these familiar faces just never managed to take off; in more than a few cases, you’ll likely spot them in a film years later and vaguely recognise them before the penny drops. At which point, you likely ask yourself, “Yikes, what happened?”, and wonder how their career trajectory never resulted in a litany of impressive starring roles.

    Here are 10 leading actors whose careers never took off, and why…

    9. Mark Hamill

    Mark Hamill’s career was of course made by his appearing as protagonist Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, and though it wouldn’t be fair to say that he’s done nothing since, his cinematic CV is, to be kind, pretty bleak.

    Starring in a fleet of mostly inconsequential films in the wake of Star Wars, Hamill eventually made a name for himself as one of the industry’s most prolific voice-over artists, earning massive acclaim for his brilliant performance as The Joker in a multitude of animated movies and TV shows, as well as some video games.

    So yes, it’s not so much that Hamill hasn’t had a storied, solid career, it’s just that it didn’t end up being in the world of cinema. Still, one has to wonder why the offers didn’t come flooding in after Star Wars; perhaps he only received scripts casting him in sci-fi, and he resented this?

    Or maybe producers realised that, as a live-action actor, the Star Wars films succeeded more in spite of him than because of him (the guy can voice a mean Joker, but his line readings in Lucas’ franchise are hardly stellar now, are they?).

    7. Haley Joel Osment

    Haley Joel Osment’s career trajectory is somewhat similar – minus the whole baby thing – in that he also received an Oscar nomination (for Supporting Actor) in his youth – at 11 years old – and his career took a colossal nose-dive soon thereafter.

    After a successful effort in Steven Spielberg’s ambitious 2001 sci-fi A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Osment’s career promptly began to wane, with many attributing it to the fact that puberty caused his physical appearance to change considerably, and he was no longer the cute young boy he once was.

    Osment is largely relegated now to voicing Sora in the Kingdom Hearts games and starring in a litany of films that nobody watches. His recent run-ins with the law – for driving drunk and drug possession – have no doubt done little to help his career.

    4. Joseph Fiennes

    Taking the cake in the “unlucky younger brother” stakes is Joseph Fiennes, who has never been able to escape from under the shadow of his Harry Potter-starring brother Ralph, and has pretty much been relegated to starring in TV shows (albeit a few crackers like Flashforward and American Horror Story).

    However, his career began promisingly, playing William Shakespeare in the Best Picture Oscar winner Shakespeare in Love. It’s a role that naturally should have shot him to the top of the Hollywood A-list, yet all that followed was a supporting turn in Enemy at the Gates, and then a steady decline in notoriety.

    He was once a BAFTA nominee, and now he’s starring in the likes of the shoddy Camelot, which is essentially where movie stars go to die (with the exception of Eva Green, perhaps).

    3. Patrick Fugit

    There’s a certain irony in the fact that Patrick Fugit’s only notable starring role is as William Miller in the brilliant Almost Famous, given that the guy seemed to essentially be on the cusp of becoming a hot young star, but then seemed to pretty much completely fall off the map, starring in only a small number of films, none of which were either big box office players nor particularly meaty roles. It reached an all-time low-point when he appeared in the dreadful 2009 horror flick Horsemen in a supporting role; going from a critically-lauded performance in Almost Famous to that? What a shame, and what a waste of talent.

    Though a supporting performance in We Bought a Zoo was his most high-profile role since Almost Famous, it appears to have done little re-ignite the actor’s career; his pending CV does not seem particularly compelling.

    1. Maria Falconetti

    Maria Falconetti gives what is frequently cited as one of the all-time greatest movie performances in Carl Theodor Dreyer’s supremely iconic 1928 silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc, all the more impressive because it relies almost solely on her pained facial expressions.

    It may not be the most exciting picture ever assembled, but in closing so intimately on Falconetti’s face, we’re able to feel the anguish of her character’s plight; it is an instance of an actress completely throwing herself into her performance.

    To be fair, Falconetti is one of the few instances on this list who did not seem to yearn for a prolific career; this was her sole major film, and after that she returned to the theater, apparently preferring that method of performance.

    It’s a shame, though; on the strength of this performance, she could have been one of the all-time greats, and her indelible place in cinema history nevertheless is perhaps a testament to how fantastic she is here.

    Amanda Bynes: ‘I Got My Breast Implants Removed’

    Amanda Bynes is suffering from the painful price of plastic surgery after having another cosmetic operation — to REMOVE her breast implants, the former child actress tells RadarOnline.com.

    The 27-year-old regretted having had the boob job she infamously flaunted in a photo she posted on Twitter wearing only a bra in May.

    “I got my breast implants removed,” Bynes confirmed via email to Radar. “They were uncomfortable… I prefer them out.”

    RadarOnline.com has learned the headline-grabbing ex-Nickelodeon star went under the knife in early June to try and return to a more natural look — an A cup.

    But she suffered a post-surgery complication, a source revealed.

    “A tube got lodged in her breast and Amanda was in pain,” an insider close to Bynes revealed. “But she is much better now and even told me, ‘They look amazing without the implants!’”

    Undeterred by the bad experience, she’s not done with her body enhancements and has booked yet another procedure – this time, on her nose — for this Saturday.

    “The change in her nose has made Amanda feel so more confident,” the source said.

    “She’s become addicted to the confidence each surgery gives her… She bemoaned that she she stopped working because she was so vain that she didn’t like how her nose was looking on camera.”

    Describing herself as previously looking “hideous” and feeling “insecure” because of her nose, the What I Like About You star told the pal that her next procedure is to shave down “the bone that forms the bridge of my nose.”

    And she said she won’t start her music career — Bynes is working with Waka Flocka Flame – until the surgeries on her nose are complete.

    “She can’t wait to start making music videos when her nose is finished,” the source added.

    I was wrong, ONTD. I thought her breasts were real. Ooops. You all were right!  :)

    It should come as no surprise that Hayley Atwell is reprising her role as Peggy Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It's been talked about and discussed a lot over the past few months.

    Chris Evans was recently on the set of the film in Cleveland where he was filming a scene with Atwell as an old Peggy Carter. This confirms that she will not only have flashback scenes, but modern day scenes as well.

    Atwell also recently said that she's be appearing in one of Marvel's One Shot short films that will debut at San Diego Comic-Con this year.

    Captain America 2 picks up where Marvel's The Avengers left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. It also stars Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Maximiliano Hernández, Robert Redford, and Georges St-Pierre.

    Now we already know the blog press is what’s keeping urban pop culture alive, so all press is good press. There is a new couple alert this week and it’s a good one. Word on the street, Nas and Iggy Azalea of T.I.’s Grand Hustle crew.

    Last week, the two were spotted backstage at the afterparty for Iggy Azalea’s concert. They arrived together, chilled in VIP together, and left the spot… together. Ok, so let me explain how this works. Iggy is now signed to Island Def Jam and Nas is under that umbrella also, so we see how this works.
