Oprah Starts New Job with 60 Minutes

-- Oprah is now serving as a special correspondent for CBS' 60 Minutes, and her first story aired last night for the show's 50th-season premiere.
-- For her first story, she traveled to Michigan to talk to a group of 14 Americans(half that voted for Donald Trump, half that did not) about how they feel about the president
-- While their talk was very divided, the group did agree on one thing-- the president should probably tweet a little more cautiously. They also debated on topics such as Russian collusion in the election, Trump's response to Charlottesville, health care, the ban on transgenders in the military, etc. Many people believed the US is headed for a Civil War
-- She said her intention with her first story was to see if the panel thought people would be able to find more common ground by the time of the next presidential election
-- Oprah shared that she has missed hearing from Americans since her talk show went off the air, and her first 60 Minutes story "felt like coming home"

Freeform orders pilot for PLL spin-off starring Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish

Freeform has ordered a pilot for a Pretty Little Liars titled "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists" based on the book by Sara Shepard.
Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish set to star and reprise their roles from the original.
Here's the logline: "Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi."
The original book had no link with Pretty Little Liars but they will be connected on TV.
I. Marlene King will be developing the show on Freeform.
Freeform (then ABC Family) already tried a supernatural spin-off from PLL titled "Ravenswood" but it was cancelled after a short 10 episode first season in 2014.

Star Trek Discovery - the reviews are in! Plus new Sonequa photoshoot and the cast takes a knee

The embargo has been lifted and the reviews are in!

The Daily Beast says Star Trek Discovery "honors sci-fi’s history while giving it a bold new future to stake claim in, making Star Trek essential television for the first time in decades".




The Nerdist says Michelle Yeoh's captain Georgiou is "ferociously likable, a born leader with a powerful moral compass who makes you wish for a mentor figure like her in your own life"




TV Line's (super spoilery, do not read if you've not watched) review says "it feels like Star Trek. That trademark blend of sci-fi action, starry-eyed optimism and high-minded philosophy? Discovery‘s got it."




Vulture says Discovery "stands tall alongside the best-regarded incarnations of the Trek franchise even as it raids elements from all of them".

The action romance is described as a modern-day take on Romeo And Juliet

  • Popular daytime talk show host Wendy Williams has more than bikini photos to worry about after photos of her husband Kevin Hunter and his alleged mistress of 10 years surface.

  • Cheating and abuse allegations have plagued the couples marriage for years but no real proof has surfaced until now.

  • Hunter's mistress of 10 years is a massage therapist named Sharina Hudson. Hunter was photographed with Hudson out on the town in Morristown, New Jersey only 36 hours after photos from his family vacation with Wendy to Barbados surfaced.

  • Hunter is said to be splitting time between his family----and a home 9 miles down the road he purchased for he and Hudson to live in together. Hunter bought the home in 2012 and added Hudson's name to the deed in 2015. They are both listed on public real estate records as residents of the home.

  • Hunter is said to be in love with both women but doesn't want to give either up for the other.

  • Photos also surfaced of Hudson wearing a large diamond ring on her engagment finger.

  • The UK based Daily Mail spent a year investigating Hunter and said he spends 3-4 nights a week with Hudson and then mozies home to Wendy sometimes after 1am. They tailed him for 5 months and took extensive notes and photos.

While promoting her new visual album Double Dutchess Fergie has also faced questions regarding her recent split with Josh Duhamel. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight Fergie had this to say: "You know what though, we're great friends. Josh and I- there's so much love that we have for each other, we really like each other, we have fun with each other we're just not a romantic couple anymore. But we are still Axl's parents through and through (...) It's still the same."

George Clooney was interviewed by the Daily Beast about his new film Suburbicon, which then delved into other topics concerning racism, Trump, etc.

Some highlights:
-- Mentions that his film shows that racism is everywhere and not just in the South. That the central theme is the fear whites have of losing their privilege and believing minorities are stealing it when that isn't close to reality.
-- Says growing up in the South as a child, he would see rules like "no open toed shoes" only enforced to black patrons.
-- Grew up around the Confederate flag and didn't see it for the symbol of hate it was until he was older.
-- Calls Steve Bannon a pussy and that he wrote one of the worst screenplays he's ever read. Claims if Hollywood actually cared for him, he'd still be there writing scripts and kissing everyone's ass.
-- Says Trumps attacks on the media are nothing new and criticises them for their coverage during the campaign.
-- Doesn't think Hillary is very good at communicating things, and was frustrated she never upped her game.
-- Interview ends with the blurb on elites in the tweet above.

A Saudi Arabia textbook accidentally included an image of Star Wars character Yoda sitting next to King Faisal at the United Nations. The image originated from an art project juxtaposing moments in Arab history with film characters.

“The Ministry of Education regrets the inadvertent error,” said Ahmed al-Eissa, the Saudi education minister. “The ministry has began printing a corrected copy of the decision and withdrawing the previous versions, and has formed a legal committee to determine the source of the error and to take appropriate action.”

Luke Bryan Joins American Idol Reboot

-- Luke Bryan has officially joined "American Idol" as the second judge for the upcoming American Idol reboot on ABC.
-- Katy Perry was previously announced with a $25 million deal; Bryan initially rejected his $6 million offer, and the details of his renegotiated payment are unknown
-- Auditions for the show are supposed to be next week with a series premiere on March 4, but Idol still hasn't locked down a 3rd judge as of yet
-- There were rumors of Lionel Richie, Charlie Puth, and Keith Urban possibly being the 3rd judge, but Variety doesn't think any of them are still in the running

- Federer saved a match point won his match against Kyrgios pushing Team Europe over the 13 point threshold to win the tournament
- Nadal lost to Isner in the previous match
- Zverev beat Querrey
- Isner/Sock beat Berdych/Cilic







This fun weekend will probably be mostly remembered for the images of Nadal jumping on Federer after he won the final match.

  • There is a Change.org petition, penned by GLAAD NYU campus ambassador Gianna Collier-Pitts, out right now asking for Warner Bros. to address Diana/Wonder Woman's bisexuality in their films.

  • The petition ends with: "All I ask is that Warner Bros. directly acknowledge Diana Prince for who she is, who she has always been (regardless of her current love interest), and what her character could potentially represent for millions of people."

  • Collier-Pitts' reasoning for the petition: "Wonder Woman’s Diana Prince hails from Themyscira, land of the Amazons and inhabited exclusively by women. This alone should serve as reason enough to confirm her sexuality, since any close relationship she could have had prior to her romantic storyline with Steve Trevor would have had to have been with another woman. Some of you may be thinking that this specificity doesn’t make a difference but for people like me who rarely see themselves reflected in media, believe me. It does. […] Making Wonder Woman canonically bisexual on the big screen would make her the first openly LGBTQ superhero of any gender from either DC or Marvel’s cinematic universes, and would solidify her place as a true role model for women of all ages and identities."

  • Previously in 2016, Gal Gadot said on the topic of her character being bisexual: "It’s not something we’ve explored [in the film]. It never came to the table, but when you talk theoretically about all the women on Themyscira and how many years she was there, then what he said makes sense. In this movie she does not experience any bisexual relationships. But it’s not about that. She’s a woman who loves people for who they are. She can be bisexual. She loves people for their hearts."
