Fans petition Warner Bros to make Wonder Woman bisexual

  • There is a Change.org petition, penned by GLAAD NYU campus ambassador Gianna Collier-Pitts, out right now asking for Warner Bros. to address Diana/Wonder Woman's bisexuality in their films.

  • The petition ends with: "All I ask is that Warner Bros. directly acknowledge Diana Prince for who she is, who she has always been (regardless of her current love interest), and what her character could potentially represent for millions of people."

  • Collier-Pitts' reasoning for the petition: "Wonder Woman’s Diana Prince hails from Themyscira, land of the Amazons and inhabited exclusively by women. This alone should serve as reason enough to confirm her sexuality, since any close relationship she could have had prior to her romantic storyline with Steve Trevor would have had to have been with another woman. Some of you may be thinking that this specificity doesn’t make a difference but for people like me who rarely see themselves reflected in media, believe me. It does. […] Making Wonder Woman canonically bisexual on the big screen would make her the first openly LGBTQ superhero of any gender from either DC or Marvel’s cinematic universes, and would solidify her place as a true role model for women of all ages and identities."

  • Previously in 2016, Gal Gadot said on the topic of her character being bisexual: "It’s not something we’ve explored [in the film]. It never came to the table, but when you talk theoretically about all the women on Themyscira and how many years she was there, then what he said makes sense. In this movie she does not experience any bisexual relationships. But it’s not about that. She’s a woman who loves people for who they are. She can be bisexual. She loves people for their hearts."

- Plastic surgeon Dr. Norman Rowe has received requests from 50 NYC women to get the "Ivanka" look which is “widened cheekbones, a slender nose and large eyes”
- What's the appeal of Ivanka? Rowe explains: Maybe they just like the look, but also that [Ivanka’s] a powerful woman, self-confident, part of the first family. Do they want to be her? Yes, deep down, maybe
- Patients can opt for either the full "Ivanka" (cheek implants and rhinoplasty that can cost between $30,000 and $40,000) or go for a non-invasive look (temporary fillers and Botox that can be between $2,500-$4,500)

Lena Dunham on Lady Gaga's Netflix Documentary Five Foot Two

"Nearly impossible to express the gift that is Gaga: Five Foot Two. This film is one of the most revealing acts of feminine rebellion you will ever witness. We will all see ourselves in it. I sure did. I may not be doing the super bowl halftime show for expectant fans but I know what both triumph and damnation feels like. As a woman in the public eye, I am labeled a brave voice one moment and an idiotic uninformed navel-gazing whiner the next. There are things I've been called that I won't name here because they hurt my heart and body they don't deserve my response. But just as Gaga lives with chronic pain and chronic inspiration, so do we all. She rejects labels and we can too. She understands that we are all works in progress, learning to love ourselves and to fight for each other. The bravest thing we can do right now, for ourselves and for this country, is to exist authentically and without apology. So someones says I'm a fat faux feminist dog abandoner? No: I reject that. I say I'm a warrior woman who has lived through and with mental illness, assault, chronic pain, public criticism and still I've fought every day to tell stories and make jokes. So please, reject the narratives imposed on you and choose your own adventure. Thank you Gaga (and director Chris Moukarbel) for giving us permission to change our narratives. I might not be flawless, but you know I gotta diamond heart."

ONTD Original: A Retrospective on Heidi Montag's 5 Best Bops

Heidi Blair Montag - brains, beauty, veteran television actress & champion for the sanctity of marriage. Montag's dizzying music career is the product the late 00s & early 10's sludgy, dark & honest-ness, that in the wake of Britney Spears' "Blackout", infiltrated the white female music scene. Now almost 10 years later, Heidi laying low, resting on the laurels of her mega-pop-stardom. An unspoken hero of music, there's nary praise or recognition for the achievements Heidi's contributed to music, on the eve of her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, we take a look back at 5 songs from her debut genre-bending album "Superficial" that changed music forever.
Superficial

Heidi's Aretha-level vocals breeze through the chorus of "Superficial". The Diane Warren penned track is a call to arms to all of Heidi' haters, the press & the paparazzi that shame her for the very thing that helped make her so famous. In this feminist anthem Heidi reclaims her feminine identity saying, "They say I'm superficial / Some call me a bitch / They just mad cause I'm sexy, famous & I'm rich", & she's right. This is Heidi's most poignant bop.

Look How I'm Doin'

On the Gloria Steinham inspired "Look How I'm Doin'", Heidi tackles heavy topics such as, co-dependency & self-sufficeny as she chronicles a relationship with a partner (maybe male or female), that didn't appreciate Heidi for all she had to offer & ultimately the partner regrets not seeing Heidi's worth. On VH1 Storyteller's Heidi mentions this wasn't about Spencer Pratt & was written (with Quincy Jones) as a support song for issues women across the globe deal with.

Body Language

Heidi used the funding she received for this album to sample 80's fave Yazoo's "Situation" on "Body Language". The release of this song was accompanied with a career-making performance on one of those Miss America/Universe/Teen America whatever shows that propelled it to #1& the outfit Heidi wore is currently on display at The Smithsonian.

I'll Do It

Heidi didn't have to stoop to appropriating races like Christina Aguilera & Miley Cyrus to reclaim her sexuality, she did it the old fashioned way, on an FHM/Maxim cover. And on this song, Heidi's vocals sizzle as she teases "eat my panties off of me" before the booming chorus re-focuses the listener back to Heidi talking about her own pleasures & desires, not her partners.

Fashion

Gagnia Twain covered Heidi's #2 hit "Fashion" for the "Confessions of a Shopaholic" OST (you're not gay unless you've heard this album) but Heidi brought the real passion & emotion with unfiltered vocals that the song called for. She touches on materialism and capitalism in a way no modern popstar has dared since "Material Girl' by Madonna
