Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis go dancing!

0
0

Dressed in black tie finery, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis looked like they should be sipping in martinis as a piano tinkled somewhere in the background.

But the women who have partied up a storm in Manhattan for over a decade as Carrie and Charlotte in HBO's beloved Sex and the City, are obviously more like their characters than anyone could have guessed.

kristin

The pair left the glitzy amfAR gala in LA last night and headed towards the heart of the action, just south of the famous Sunset Strip.

Well-heeled and exclusive Soho House was available to them; as was the legendary Chateau Marmont with its gentile outside garden.

Jennifer Aniston's favourite haunt, The Sunset Tower, would have been a nice fit on a chilly Californian night with its roaring fires, breathtaking LA views and yes, a tinkling piano.

But Parker and Davis, both 47, clearly had more fun in my mind so still in posh frocks the pair rocked up to The Abbey, West Hollywood's most famous gay bar, and a raucous epicentre in the neighbourhood.

Quirky, brave Carrie would always be ahead of Charlotte as they headed to the dance floor.

In reality, of course, these incredible looking women live very different lives.

Kristin, who split up with West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin earlier this year, lives in the City of Angels with her adopted daughter, Gemma Rose.

So it was perhaps her choice (and chance) to show committed New York and mother-of-three Parker around her home city.

Romney offers 'Friday Night Lights' bracelets

0
0

So much for the complaint from TV's Friday Night Lights creator about Mitt Romney adopting a popular slogan from the show as his own.

The GOP presidential nominee is selling red, white and blue rubber bracelets that say "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, America Can't Lose" in exchange for a $10 donation to his campaign.

Peter Berg, the writer-director behind the now-defunct show, blasted Romney last week for "falsely and inappropriately" linking his campaign to the cult-favorite show about a fictional Texas high school football team. Romney had taken to saying a version of the show's "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose" mantra on the campaign trail, as a way of explaining what America means to him.

You'll note that the bracelets aren't word-for-word those uttered by Coach Taylor on the program, a Romney favorite. "Everyone who knows Mitt well knows that he's the man you always want to have in your corner when times are tough," writes Ann Romney in the fundraising pitch about the bracelets.

Mitt Romney passed out some of the bracelets to his campaign staff as they faced off with the traveling press corps Sunday for a game of flag football, according to the poll report from BuzzFeed.

Breaking: Taylor Swift is not a feminist

0
0

Taylor Swift's fourth album, Red, is out today. The bubbly blonde is expected to sell millions of copies with her now-standard girlish, diary-like lyrics. As Ramin Setoodeh writes for The Daily Beast:

The catchy song "22," titled after Swift's age, opens with the irresistible line: "It feels like the perfect night to dress up like hipsters/and make fun of our exes, uh-huh."

Uh-huh.

This time around, Swift worked with Swedish producer Max Martin, who wrote power pop hits like Britney's "Baby One More Time," Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way," Kelly Clarkson's "Since You Been Gone," and KatyPerry's "I Kissed a Girl." Yep, a41-year-old man co-wrote Taylor Swift's hit "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

Of course, Swift does write her own songs, generally about boys, love, and falling in and out of love with boys. There are women younger than she is — Rye Rye and Azealia Banks, for instance — experimenting with new sounds and sexually charged lyrics; Swift has stuck to a formula and carefully curated image: The patriarchy-friendly, virginal, good, pure, feminine, pretty blonde girl that has been an American ideal for decades. She's basically a cross between Shirley Temple, Doris Day and the Sunbeam bread mascot.

Still, she is a powerful woman in the music industry; her latest single set a record for digital sales and went to Number One on the Billboard Hot 100. In his interview, Setoodeh asks a simple question: "Do you think your music empowers women?"

Taylor Swift's answer is a non-answer, missing the point:

I write from a place of my personal feelings about things. It's funny when you write a song and you don't expect it to turn into what it turns into when it goes out in the world. I wrote a song called "Mean" about a critic who hated me. I put it out, and all of a sudden, it became an anthem against bullies in schools, which is a refreshing and new take on it. When people say things about me empowering women, that's an amazing compliment. It's not necessarily what I thought I was doing, because I write songs about what I feel. I think there's strength when you're baring your emotions.

Not only does she not think she empowers women, she doesn't intend to, and can't manage to at least turn the conversation towards some kind of cliché along the lines of "You can do anything you put your mind to" or "if girls are using me as an example to get out there and play guitar and sing, that's great."

Next, Setoodeh asks: "Do you consider yourself a feminist?"

Taylor Swift replies:

I don't really think about things as guys versus girls. I never have. I was raised by parents who brought me up to think if you work as hard as guys, you can go far in life.

Yes, what you're describing is equality, and equality is what feminism is all about! Except we live in a country where, when you work as hard as guys, you make less money if you're a woman, or worse, a woman of color. It's like she doesn't understand what a feminist is. Is this what happens when you're homeschooled after the age of 15?

Some may argue that Taylor Swift is a role model, a class-act in the drugged-up, sexed-up music industry. But do we need another photogenic cisgendered carefree white girl singing heteronormative songs about mooning over boys?

As Jessica Wakeman writes for The Frisky,

[Taylor is] 22 now and has been exposed to a lot in these past few years. I do not expect that Taylor Swift would have the politics of Kathleen Hanna, India.Arie, Ani DiFranco or even Alanis Morrissette. But I do wish she could correctly identify what a feminist is - even if she does not want to identify as one.

MK1 back District 3 over Union J

0
0

X Factor urban group MK1 have said that Union J need to step up their game to match the vocal ability of rival boy band District 3.

The group, who were eliminated from the competition last night, exclusively told omg! today that they think Union J are focused on the wrong parts of the X Factor.

Charlie told us: "If you're not a musician you can't tell the difference between their techniques. Union J sing in unison and it's very simple for a boy band to all the sing the same thing."

"With District 3, they have very intense harmonies and it's really impressive. Union J need to step up I think."

Charlie then told us that the rivalry between the two bands only really existed on one side.
She explained: "There is a rivalry from one side and not from the other. I feel that District 3 are such cool guys, they are very chilled out and like 'what will be will be'. They're the younger guys so you'd think they'd feel more threatened but to be honest it's Union J."

"They're a bit intense. They need to chill out. They are just a bit too extreme about it and should start focusing on the music."

She added: "At the end of the day, District 3 have incredible harmonies, they have incredible talent on stage and it shows a lot more."

We think it's safe to say that MK1 are firmly team District 3.

'Red' To Swiftly Sell 1 Million Copies

TAYLOR’S SWIFT RESPONSE: Indications are that Taylor Swift’s Big Machine album, Red, officially available today, has a million copies in its sight, based on early retail reads. Can the country-pop diva actually get there?  If she does, it will be the first time in a decade that an artist has had consecutive million-selling debut weeks, since the days of Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and Eminem. Swift currently boasts approximately half of the iTunes top singles, due to the fact the online retailer's “Complete My Album” function was down for the first 15 hours that the album was available, which might account for the large number of track sales as consumers may have opted to buy the songs a la carte. The Target version of the album contains six additional songs, three live and three new studio tracks.Stay tuned as we gather more information.

"I’m so shocked at Zayn": Rebecca Ferguson hits back at her One Direction ex

0

Rebecca+Ferguson

Zayn Malik has upset ex girlfriend Rebecca by saying their relationship was a mistake, but still refuses to say what actually happened

Former X Factor contestants Rebecca and One Direction fittie Zayn Malik went out with each other for three months last year but have never really talked about the reasons they split.

However last week Zayn revealed he thought he’d made a mistake by dating the mum of two, who is seven years older than him.

He said: “It was a wrong idea from the start. It shouldn’t have happened. I think it was a wrong decision to make at such a young age.

"Then it did end badly so we don’t talk any more.”

It seems his decision to discuss their break up publicly hasn’t gone down too well with Rebecca though.

“I was so shocked by what he said!” she tells this week’s New! magazine. Although she’s not best pleased, she still refuses to hit back.

“I’m not going to retaliate. All I will say is that there have been a lot of things said and he knows so far that I’ve stayed classy and quiet and bitten my lip,” she goes on.
[Quite the opposite actually]

“I’m not one to reveal big secrets about what’s gone on in a relationship, and I think he was probably put up to this. I know him too well to think he’d say it deliberately.” [#MANAGEMENT]

It certainly sounds as though something big went down between the two, but the tight-lipped Rebecca just won’t be budged. Damn it.

“I won’t talk about what went wrong between us but he knows what happened. And it is what it is. At this point in my career and at my stage of life, I won’t expose what went on there.”

It is perfectly natural to be exposing your teeth out of frustration at this point.

Rebecca, whose latest single Backtrack [of course] is about infidelity and is based on a true story (what?), isn’t bitter though and is pleased that Zayn is happy with new girlfriend Perrie Edwards.

“I haven’t [met her] but I am a fan of the Little Mix girls and she seems lovely. I think they’re good together.”

We wonder if that was said through gritted teeth….

source

tl;dr, Rebecca has been blabbing about Zayn for over a year now, hinting that he cheated on her as recently as just last week. Zayn mentions her in one interview and now she's pissed.

Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens getting too big for his britches; may quit show to pursue career in U.S.

According to reports, Dan Stevens - aka Cousin Matthew - has refused to sign on for a fourth series of Downton Abbey and is swapping stately homes for Manhattan's streets as he prepares to star in a Broadway show.

‘New York for me is going to be one big adventure. I will be taking the whole family out and we will be there for six months. I don’t know if I will be returning to Downton,' Stevens has said.

Reports that Stevens, 29, might not return to Downton for a fourth series first surfaced in March along with rumours that Dame Maggie Smith, who plays the Dowager Countess of Grantham, would not be signing on for another season.

Stevens' role in Downton Abbey as Cousin Matthew Crawley has been pivotal in series three, which began with Matthew's wedding to Mary and has seen Stevens' character rescue Downton from financial ruin and start to take the initiative on running the ill-managed Downton estate.

In August, award-winning Downton creator Julian Fellowes confirmed that he is planning a fourth season of the show, saying:

'I am sure there will be a fourth series, yes, although it hasn’t yet been confirmed officially.'

OUAT: Official Description For Episode 7

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
ABC has released the episode synopsis for episode 7, "Child of the Moon."

OUaT Season 2 Episode 7 "Child of the Moon" Official Description

"Ruby's fear about turning into a wolf during the first curse-free Storybrooke full moon is confirmed when one of the town's residents is viciously murdered, and Ruby is the prime suspect; Decker - aka King George - threatens to expose David as a shepherd, not a prince, and not fit to run the town as sheriff; and Leroy stumbles upon some treasure in the Storybrooke mine that could help bring Mary Margaret and Emma back into our world.
Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, Red Riding Hood finds a kindred spirit in Anita (Annabeth Gish), a charismatic and mysterious leader of a pack of humans who, like Red, turn out to be wolves."

If you've been hoping for a story focused on Ruby (Meghan Ory), this episode is for you. Not only will you get to see more of Ruby in Storybrooke, you'll also get to see more of Ruby in the fairytale land that was. Are the two connected? More than likely, that answer is yes. Could it be that Anita (or one of her pack) is in Storybrooke as well and the one who committed the murder? That certainly seems to be something they're setting up, especially since it's hard to imagine Ruby actually killing someone in Storybrooke. Something else has to be at play here.

Also coming up in this Once Upon a Time season 2 episode is more from King George (Decker in Storybrooke). He's already been shown spying on David, but it's David, not the prince, who has been working to keep the town together. He may not be the prince, but he has proven himself worthy. But will any of that matter if Decker exposes him? What could Decker want in exchange for keeping his secret? This doesn't sound good, especially with Leroy finding something that could help reunite David with his family. Will Leroy have finally found fairy dust? But what will Emma and Mary be going through in fairytale land in the meantime?

What do you think of the latest Once Upon a Time season 2 spoilers?

Distinguished White Lady Makes Debut K-pop Appearance

Earlier this week, Kim Jang Hoon revealed jacket photos for his 10th album some of which featured American socialite Paris Hilton. He has now released the first music video teaser for ballad “Not Here“.

He shared the teaser on an October 19th me2day post writing, “Kim Jang Hoon new song ‘Not Here’ teaser video – thanks to the government it was a little late, but after much hardship here is the teaser. Pregnant women and elderly folk, please lower the volume keke. On the 25th at 12 noon look forward to the whole song and video. Really… you need to watch it in 3D for 100 times the amazement, please watch it in 3D later. I spent over 1.5 billion [~$1.3M USD] on it, don’t let it go to waste keke”.

In his me2day, Kim Jang Hoon refers to the government, aka MOGEF, sarcastically because they had initially given the music video a 19+ rating. After multiple edits, including taking out a large portion of the car crash sequence, MOGEF approved the music video for public broadcast.

Paris Hilton‘s featuring is creating even more excitement for the full music video. Kim Jang Hoon previously explained that, “we considered others like Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson, but according to surveys ran in Korea, Paris Hilton was more well-known to the public compared to the other two, which is how we came to choose her as our final lead”. Thanks to K-Pop’s rising popularity all over the world, the casting offer was readily accepted.

The music video was filmed in both 2D and 3D versions with top Hollywood staff, including experts who worked on the movie ‘Avatar‘.

Watch the teaser below [above] and tell us if it seems worth its $1.3M price tag.

The character was created to be a counter to Brooke, a mini-Taylor type character who was sweet and kind and gained sympathy, but for whatever reason, the fans didn't buy it and whispers are Brad finally got a clue as well. Rumor has it Hope will leave town to mourn the loss of her pregnancy, now the question is if Hope returns will it be with a new face?

Jason leaves this week in a matter of speaking (splash!) but the door is open for a return. When that will be is unclear if at all, it may be months or even years before that happens. Someone takes advantage of a prime opportunity to blame his exit elsewhere. RC plans on misleading you to the real cause. Jason's exit ties into the bigger storyline of the villains behind the events in PC. Of course you know by now it was Duke who shot Jason.

Tea has been working as lead counsel for Clint's company, Buchanan Enterprises. A vengeful Tea enlists Clint's aid to help destroy Todd and Clint is all too willing, and has his own agenda. Tea's relationship with Clint complicates her friendship with John. Clint could also play into this ELQ story, however, my sources differ and it may be Duke. Just remember Heather holds many secrets and they will come to light soon enough.

Word is that Kimberly did some scenes this week and we will get a glimpse of Robin. Rumor has it that Duke wants Robin to believe she escaped. My information reads Duke manufactures Robin's escape in such a way it will not trace back to him.

It's the end for Joe Scully Jr. Sadly he taped his last scene weeks ago. Due to Steve Burton deciding he wanted out TPTB had to modify the story to adjust the exit within the story, which forced Steinmetz’s storyline to end.

Many are hoping that when Genie is done at YR she will come back to GH. People please remember there are budgets and Genie doesn't come cheap, while many would love to see the return right now it is not in the cards at this time.
