Stranger Things cast is about to renegotiate deals

0
0

Netflix faces a possibility that all of the Stranger Things child stars will band together to negotiate deals for upcoming seasons of the show.
Kid actors Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin each got $30,000 per episode for the first and second seasons with a bonus (less than six figures)
The cast is signed for six years, but a renegotiation will happen early next year.
Netflix hoped to shoot seasons 3 and 4 back-to-back to get ahead of any potentially awkward adolescent transitions for its young actors.
Show creators Matt and Ross Duffer and executive producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are said to have vetoed that idea : The writers room is small and it is not possible to turn out episodes that quickly.
Stranger Things clearly is the streaming service's most important franchise.

The summer may be over but that doesn't mean that Brit has stopped working on her beach bod. The elusive chanteuse provided us with an update on her fitness routine, serving some serious #fitspo.

Brit also got a new hairstyle, which she might have regretted. ("Got my roots colored today!!! But now I think I want to CUT it!!!!")

She also gave a shoutout to Jay-Z giving her a shoutout: "When this song came out, I lost my mind like a little kid!!! I fangirled and cried!!"

Finally here's Brit and Jayden giving you a poop themed snap moment.

As is always the case with Brit, some new footage found its way online this week, including Britney dancing in a 2008 photoshoot for Rolling Stone, extra footage from her 2011 TV special I Am The Femme Fatale and a behind the scenes video of her iconic 2001 Superbowl Pepsi commercial.

'Game of Thrones' series finale will have multiple endings filmed to throw off viewers & spoilers

To much of no surprise, reports are coming out that the series finale of 'Game of Thrones' (probably debuting in 2019) will have multiple endings filmed in advance to throw off fans, viewers, and hackers worldwide, and avoid spoilers.

Said head of HBO Casey Bloys this week: “I know in ‘Game of Thrones,’ the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens. You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”

This isn't a new thing, as lots of shows have shot multiple endings to throw off viewers, including: 'Breaking Bad', 'The Sopranos', and most famously the 'Who Shot JR?' finale of 'Dallas' decades ago.

Hillary Clinton compares herself to Cersei Lannister

A new excerpt from Hillary's book has her comparing her experiences in the 2016 election to Cersei Lannister's during the Walk of Shame.

“Crowds at Trump rallies called for my imprisonment more times than I can count,” she writes. “They shouted, ‘Guilty! Guilty!’ like the religious zealots in ‘Game of Thrones’ chanting ‘Shame! Shame!’ while Cersei Lannister walked back to the Red Keep.”

'American Idol' filming may be delayed - still no judges besides Katy

- American Idol may need to delay taping. They are still unable to land any judges besides $25-mil Katy Perry.
- If filming is postponed, it might conflict with Perry's Witness tour, which would cause trouble.

- Idol is no closer to signing desired 2nd judge Luke Bryan, as he wants more money and has no interest in the "Disney perks" (which included theme park partnerships) producers offered him instead of cash.
- No progress has been made at all on the 3rd judge.

Director Mary Harron says men should be as unsensitive as they want

  • Is promoting the Alias Grace miniseries which she directed

  • Men should be as unsensitive as they want. I'd rather know what they think, or what their imaginations are all about. I'm kind of libertarian that way. I want to hear what everyone thinks.

  • She cast Christian Bale in American Psycho because he was the only one who got that the character was supposed to be ridiculous and all the Americans who auditioned worshipped the character.

Larry King revealed today that he was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer in July during a routine physical.

King, 83, had the spot of cancer removed several weeks after diagnosis and was back at work a week later.

He hopes this scare stresses how important annual physicals are, since that was the only reason his cancer was caught so early.

- On Monday, ESPN anchor Jemele Hill posted a series of tweets explicitly calling the president a white supremacist, and implying that his supporters are as well
- ESPN issued a statement distancing themselves from Hill's remarks: "The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the president do not represent the position of ESPN. We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate."
- During today's White House press briefing, Sarah Huckabee Sanders called the comments "outrageous" and suggested that Hill should be fired
- Possible First Amendment violation - the government shouldn't be trying to get you fired for criticizing them!

Comic Writer Gail Simone Weighs in on Bodega Backlash

0
0

This is in response to the recent blowback to a new startup called "Bodega" that essentially wants to put local bodegas/mom-and-pop grocery stores out of business by putting a glorified app controlled vending machine in your local apartments, office, dorms, or gyms. They're probably looking to get bought out by a bigger company

People have not taken kindly to this, pointing out the audacity in taking on the name and logo (a cat) of the very thing they're trying to disrupt and replace. Another criticism has been about two Silicon Valley types trying to get rid of a human connection, one often run by PoC.

Started by two ex-Google employees, they claimed they didn't think anyone would take offense to the name, but they were super wrong about that. They've since apologized about not understanding how much of a wave they'd cause with their choice of name.

"Yes, clearly. The name Bodega sparked a wave of criticism on social media far beyond what we ever imagined. When we first came up with the idea to call the company Bodega we recognized that there was a risk of it being interpreted as misappropriation. We did some homework — speaking to New Yorkers, branding people, and even running some survey work asking about the name and any potential offense it might cause. But it’s clear that we may not have been asking the right questions of the right people."

How HBO's Insecure Lights Its Cast So Well

In the video, DP Ava Berkofsky talks about how she does the lighting on the show which is significant since historically in Hollywood, lighting on shows and movies haven't been the best for darker skinned black people.

Her main aim is to have something for the light to reflect off of, keyly by having the makeup department applying a reflective base and using a polarizer filter on her cameras.
