Larry King revealed today that he was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer in July during a routine physical.

King, 83, had the spot of cancer removed several weeks after diagnosis and was back at work a week later.

He hopes this scare stresses how important annual physicals are, since that was the only reason his cancer was caught so early.

- On Monday, ESPN anchor Jemele Hill posted a series of tweets explicitly calling the president a white supremacist, and implying that his supporters are as well
- ESPN issued a statement distancing themselves from Hill's remarks: "The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the president do not represent the position of ESPN. We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate."
- During today's White House press briefing, Sarah Huckabee Sanders called the comments "outrageous" and suggested that Hill should be fired
- Possible First Amendment violation - the government shouldn't be trying to get you fired for criticizing them!

Comic Writer Gail Simone Weighs in on Bodega Backlash

This is in response to the recent blowback to a new startup called "Bodega" that essentially wants to put local bodegas/mom-and-pop grocery stores out of business by putting a glorified app controlled vending machine in your local apartments, office, dorms, or gyms. They're probably looking to get bought out by a bigger company

People have not taken kindly to this, pointing out the audacity in taking on the name and logo (a cat) of the very thing they're trying to disrupt and replace. Another criticism has been about two Silicon Valley types trying to get rid of a human connection, one often run by PoC.

Started by two ex-Google employees, they claimed they didn't think anyone would take offense to the name, but they were super wrong about that. They've since apologized about not understanding how much of a wave they'd cause with their choice of name.

"Yes, clearly. The name Bodega sparked a wave of criticism on social media far beyond what we ever imagined. When we first came up with the idea to call the company Bodega we recognized that there was a risk of it being interpreted as misappropriation. We did some homework — speaking to New Yorkers, branding people, and even running some survey work asking about the name and any potential offense it might cause. But it’s clear that we may not have been asking the right questions of the right people."

In the video, DP Ava Berkofsky talks about how she does the lighting on the show which is significant since historically in Hollywood, lighting on shows and movies haven't been the best for darker skinned black people.

Her main aim is to have something for the light to reflect off of, keyly by having the makeup department applying a reflective base and using a polarizer filter on her cameras.

Tyra Banks loves Kmart's decision to use "fabulously-sized" instead of "plus-sized"

  • Former supermodel and current America's Got Talent host Tyra Banks is praising Kmart's decision to ditch the term "plus-sized" in favor of "fabulously-sized." She had this to say when asked about Kmart's rebranding: "Five years ago on America's Next Top Model, I stopped saying 'plus-size' and I said 'fiercely real' in terms of bodies that are curvy or thicker and sexy bodies. So it looks like Kmart is following with the F-word with their own version!"

  • Not only is Kmart eliminating the term "plus-size" from all of its apparel (swimsuits and undergarments, too), the struggling company is ensuring that all of their women's apparel lines carry a full range of sizes available to purchase in-store.

Marilyn Manson said that when he first met Bieber “he was [already] wearing the shirt that had his name on my shirt, and he said to me, ‘I made you relevant again.'” Manson had told Beiber that he would do a duet of Beautiful People at his concert but Manson said that to fuck with Justin and didn't even go to soundcheck.

“He was a real piece of shit in the way he had the arrogance to say that. He was a real touchy-feely guy, too, like, ‘yo yo bro!’ and touches you when he’s talking. I’m like, ‘you need to stand down, you’re dick height on me, ok?’ [laughs] ‘Alright? So stand down son.'” Beiber and pastor relationship explained

German woman facing jailtime for stalking Eddie Redmayne for over 5 years

Yes, you read the headline right. Highlights (or lowlights, really):

-- First met Eddie back in 2012 after a play he'd done at Donmar Warehouse in London
-- Then went to find him on the UK set of 'The Theory of Everything' in 2013
-- Followed Eddie and wife Hannah Bagshawe (any word about Hannah would cause the woman's face to 'contort with rage', it was noted in the court case) at a carol service at Eton College in 2013
-- Sent a bunch of letters over time declaring her love for Eddie, and even wrote him a note saying: 'I know things about you.'
-- Apparently used to watch his London home from across the street in a park, and sometimes even followed him to his Tube/train station
-- Eddie's been aware of her for a while, and he even spotted her in the fan crowd at the London premiere of 'Fantastic Beasts' back in November, which freaked him out and prompted him to get a lawyer to file charges
-- The latest incident was just last month, in August, where the woman went to Eddie's home, when he was with his baby daughter, and tried to touch his arm, apparently
-- The woman's currently on bail and is set for sentencing on Thursday
-- Eddie released a statement (at the source) saying he's always open to meeting fans, but this crossed the line

KELLYCAROLINA
Are you listening Taylor Swift? Kelly Clarkson is NOT on bored for the current trend of pop star battles, she revealed to WKTU's Cubby and Carolina!

Kelly says, "I don't even like someone that much to not like them. I don't know, I don't surround myself with celebrities, not that they're bad, but I live in Nashville and have normal friends. I'm not against having celebrity friends, but even the ones I have are like Blake, who doesn't care about stuff like that. I'm so going to start fake feuds on The Voice with Adam and Blake! This is how I'm going to have longevity with my career. I feel like I can have a good hang with Adele. Other than that, it's mostly country people. I don't get why these diss tracks happen! I have way too much on my plate to worry about a singer or dancer being salty towards me. I don't get it. No shade to them, whatever live your life, but I just don't have time for that! I just want time to have a glass of wine and read a book!"

The full interviews on WKTU tomorrow!
