Michael Rooker said,“He deserved to cry. That little crybaby, he’s been a crybaby all his life. About time he really cried for something.”
During Season Three of The Walking Dead, a couple of characters returned as delusional visions. Rick Grimes saw a vision of Shane Walsh and several visions of his wife Lori Grimes. During Season Two of The Walking Dead, Daryl Dixon even saw visions of his brother Merle.
When an audience member asked if Merle might return at all in a vision or anything, Michael Rooker answered, “Hell no, I hope not.”
Check out the full video of Michael Rooker’s Phoenix Comicon panel below.
Viewers of the hit AMC series will remember that Rick completely went off the deep end in season three when he lost his wife, Lori. Although the two weren’t on the best of terms at the time of her death, her passing left him shook up and unable to think clearly. With his head finally on right (for the most part), it looks like season four will have Rick focusing on the prison, its new occupants and his growing baby daughter -- no time for a new romance!
“I think that there has to be some kind of mourning time,” Lincoln dished to TV Line. “I don’t think he’s able to engage at all on that level at the moment. I wouldn’t rule it out, though.”
Rick will have some more mourning time in season four. Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd previously revealed to IGN that when the AMC series returns in October it will have a time jump similar to previous seasons. TV Line confirmed that the new season will pick up four to eight months after the season three finale left off.
Andrew Lincoln’s comments on Rick’s potential (or lack of) romantic relationships comes after speculation that Rick would start something with Hershel’s daughter, Beth. A season-three episode showed Beth kissing Rick on the cheek and blushing, spurring many to believe that a romance between the two was brewing. The theories around the pair grew when Beth’s Emily Kinney said in a season-four preview that she thinks her character will “grow up a lot and take on new responsibilities.” Fans immediately assumed that she was referring to taking care of baby Judith.

With cameras now rolling on Paul Thomas Anderson's next movie, the Thomas Pynchon adaptation "Inherent Vice," the cast continues to grow and one of the key lead characters has been found, but it's not any A-list name.
Deadline reports that rising actress Katherine Waterston -- yes, daughter of Sam Waterston -- has booked the part of Shasta in the film. But she's not exactly inexperienced. So far, her resumé is peppered with work alongside acclaimed filmmakers like Tony Gilroy ("Michael Clayton") and Ang Lee ("Taking Woodstock"), and she's got a role in Kelly Reichardt's next picture, "Night Moves."But, she's never worked with a cast like this that includes Joaquin Phoenix, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Martin Short, Jena Malone and Kevin J. O'Connor with Sean Penn possibly maybe joining as well.(josh brolin was cast the other day too)
Set in 1970s Los Angeles, the story follows inept, pot-smoking private detective Doc Sportello as he investigates the case of a kidnapped girl (Shasta), who also happens to be one of his ex-girlfriends. Warner Bros. is behind this one, and it's already on our Must See list for 2014.
apparently they started filming today. i hope joaquin pics surface. also i really want pta to cast michael shannon.
What a good episode! Nick is totally having ~feelings~ for Andy. Makes me feel bad for Gail.
Also Sam/Andy are killing me with their faces this season.
Shakira welcomed her first child, son Milan Pique Mebarak, in January. Since then, she has been every bit of the doting mother — she even took little Milan to the set of The Voice. In a new interview, Shakira revealed that one of her favorite things about being a mommy is breastfeeding.
“Breastfeeding has been one of the best experiences of my life,” Shakira told Us Weekly. “I love it! I can’t stop! I think I’m going to breastfeed him until he goes to college! I’m hooked!”
Not only is breastfeeding an amazing mother/baby bonding experience, it also helps mommies lose weight quicker which is something Shakira has witnessed firsthand. “I think that it helps a lot,” Shakira stated, adding that while she’s definitely slimmed down, she’s not quite at her goal weight. “I haven’t weighed myself … I think I’m close but I can’t sing victory yet!”
Of her new mommy role, Shakira says she’s much different than she thought that she would be with son Milan. Instead of being “super-controlling” as she sometimes can be with her music, she’s much more chill. ”I’m so relaxed,” she gushed. “It’s so surprising because everybody thought I was going to be one of those hysterical mothers, like smothering mothers, and I feel that I’m not as nervous. I’m relaxed.”
Next up for Shakira? She’s working on a brand new album. “I’ve recorded some stuff, but I’m halfway there,” she said. “I don’t know exactly what I’ve got because I make so many songs and some of them might make it and some of them won’t. I’m just searching and writing about pretty much anything that comes to my mind and just letting myself be, without putting too much limits.”
Just a few days ago, photographers spotted Whoopi Goldberg leaving the set of the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. At the time, nobody knew whom she was playing, but ComicBookMovie.com revealed who it is - Bernadette Thompson, an editor at Channel 6 News and April O'Neil (Megan Fox) and Vernon Fenwick's (Will Arnett) boss.
Fans of the the 1987 animated series should be able to recognize that name as a gender-swapped version of Burne Thompson, who would constantly blame crimes in New York City on the Turtles. He clearly didn't care for them, and at times resembles J. Jonah Jameson. Even though he wasn't a fan of the Turtles, he didn't allow his feelings to prevent April from reporting on their heroics.
TMNT lands in theaters June 6th, 2014.
Kendall Schmidt has earned a huge fan base thanks to his starring role on Nickelodeon's Big Time Rush, and as the show rolls on in its fourth season, he's seizing the opportunity to re-launch his own music project. BFTV recently checked in with Kendall to find out if this really is BTR's final run and get the 411 on Heffron Drive.
Kendall's co-star Tanya Chisholm told us earlier this month that season four is "technically" the last for Big Time Rush, but he said that he hasn't gotten that memo. "I really have no idea. I'm pretty sure being part of the band somebody would have told me, and nobody has done that yet," he explained. "I love doing the show, so we'll see. I think all of us are okay with taking the time to do something on our own, but also we love being Big Time Rush."
He and his colleagues don't just play a band on TV - they actually are a band, and fans will be thrilled to know that there's more Big Time Rush music headed your way. Their new album is called 24/Seven, and can be pre-ordered on Amazon before it hits shelves on June 11. "We're really excited about that. We've been working on it since the end of our last tour," Kendall said. "I think there's 10 songs on the [regular] CD, 15 on the deluxe album. All the songs are in an episode [of the show], and then the deluxe stuff is just stuff that we had to put on there. James [Maslow] did this song called 'Amazing,' which is really great. Logan [Henderson] and I did a song called 'Untouchable.'"
In addition to his commitment to Big Time Rush in all its forms, Kendall has teamed with Dustin Belt to resurrect a music project they began before the show called Heffron Drive. When he spoke to BFTV, he'd just returned from a European tour for the new-old gig, and he's excited to bring it back to the forefront.
"Basically it's a new effort at something I did a long time ago. We started making music and we put a name to it, then I booked Big Time Rush, so obviously I kind of had to put on hold," he explained. "But [Dustin]'s always been there. He's been playing guitar for the actual Big Time Rush band since the beginning. So we kind of always had the idea of keeping it going. It's reinvigorated I guess you could say. I'm going to keep doing as much as I can while being in Big Time Rush."
If you're a BTR fan that hasn't yet listened to Heffron Drive, there are a few things he'd like you to know before you get started. "The songs that they're listening to, I did them on my computer in my room when I was 17," he said, referring to the few tracks that are available at places like ReverbNation. "They're literally like mixed, mastered and done by me. I'd like to redo those songs and eventually put those songs out with modern tracks and everything like that"
"It's a little more grown-up. It's a little more upper teenager lyrical content. The Postal Service is a big inspiration," he continued, describing the Heffron Drive sound. "But it's catchy stuff. My brothers love it just as much as some of the fans love it."
Being on a hit TV show, playing in the band that goes with it, and launching his own side project - what is it like for Kendall to juggle all these ambitions? "At this point it seems sort of normal to be on a pretty hectic schedule," he explained with a laugh. "You can't ever really be that upset. I'm running around promoting music that I've made, and I'm running around promoting a TV show I was lucky enough to be a part of. There's people in the world who want to see us play live and want to meet us in person, and it's our job as entertainers to do that."
He also takes a moment to thank the Big Time Rush audience, having found out before this interview that the band has snagged a Teen Choice Award nomination. "I just found out about that. We're nominated for Choice Music Group," he said, adding without missing a beat, "We have the best fans in the world."
It’s the announcement you’ve been waiting for: Frank Ocean Splendour in the Grass sideshows are happening. The man behind Channel Orange will play two side dates in addition to his Byron Bay commitments this July, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne. Set for the Hordern Pavilion and Festival Hall respectively, the dates will mark the OFWGKTA-member’s first ever solo jaunt to Australia.
Earlier today, Frank Ocean himself let the news slip when his website posted a ‘You’re Not Dead…’ world tour poster, with Sydney and Melbourne nestled among the likes of Munich, London, Montreal and Paris. Late this afternoon, promoters Live Nation and Niche made it official. Tickets to both shows go on sale from 10am on Thursday, June 6 – and you can count on both selling out very quickly. The visit comes off the back of a phenomenal year for the newly-solo star. Ocean’s debut solo record Channel Orange was, by all accounts, one of the best releases of the year. “Sure, Channel Orange– the major label debut from Frank Ocean that arrived in July on a tidal wave of hype – would never be mistaken for ‘dance music’,” our reviewer wrote. “The word ‘electronic’ certainly applies, though, from the brilliant 10-minute synth jam Pyramid to the luxuriant beats of Thinkin Bout You and Pink Matter. There’s accomplished production on each track, but the ‘less is more’ mantra pays off. Pharrell, Om’mas Keith, André 3000 and even John Mayer show up (in the case of Mayer, very briefly), but Channel Orange is all Frank Ocean. The guy can write. As the story goes, he spent many hours perfecting the album’s vocal performances, and the songs leave an indelible impression.”
Frank Ocean Splendour sideshows
Friday July 26 – Festival Hall, Melbourne
Monday, July 29 – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
Tickets on sale 10 AM, Thursday June 6
been waiting three years for this to happen tbh
wow haven't posted since april because there's been nothing new. not ready to say bye to some of these seniors :(
Karen Gillan is boarding a cast that already includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Glenn Close.
Karen Gillan, who starred as Doctor Who’s companion for several seasons on the hit BBC show, is joining the cast of Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy.
The movie is barreling towards a late June shoot in the UK with James Gunn behind the camera.
The movie is in casting mode, with Glenn Close joining the roll call earlier this week. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista lead the cast of Marvel's space adventure movie, which has Lee Pace and Michael Rooker as villains.
Details for Gillan's role were not revealed although it is known she will play the film’s lead female villain.
The Scottish actress played companion Amy Pond in Doctor Who's fifth through the recently-ended seventh series. The character was hugely popular and appeared in Doctor Who books, apps and video games. Gillan has several indies in the can, including Oculus, a horror flick with Katee Sackhoff.
She is repped by UTA and Michael Duff at UK’s Troika Talent.
now can they announce who are gonna voice RR and Groot?
The actress told Ellen about naming her daughter Lincoln (which was her husband Dax's choice), why they have chosen not to share photos of her, and how she thinks she rates in comparison to a sloth!
The actress says farewell to glamour in favour of ciggies, booze and tracksuit bottoms
Oh Anna Friel – she usually looks so ladylike in her 1920's dresses with vintage-inspired tresses.
So why, oh why did the actress decide to ditch all that for her trackies and trainers on a night out?
And if her casual attire wasn’t upsetting enough she also chose to drag away on a cigarette in the taxi as she left Groucho Club on Thursday evening.
Clearly unconcerned about getting ash all over the poor driver’s car (they charge you £60 to clean it normally, don’t you know) the 36-year-old acted more like a rebellious 16-year-old stealthily enjoying a crafty cigarette than a sophisticated thespian.
A book on suicide ...How creepy
She did however have her, no doubt designer, bag wide open to catch the debris. How lovely.
While we’re on the topic of the bag, we need to discuss what was inside it – firstly there was a bottle of wine.
Now it’s quite normal for people to pick up some booze on their way home to carry on the party but frankly it made the Frielster look a little on the lonely side - her downcast expression didn't help either.
Secondly – now this is where things get even weirder – she had a book in her bag entitled Night Falls Fast: Understanding Suicide.
After a lot of academic research (ok, a two second search on Google) we’ve discovered that the non-fiction book by Dr Kay Redfield Jamison is about how suicide has become one of the most common killers of Americans between the ages of fifteen and forty-five.
Yeah, we know right? Perfect bed side reading, no wonder she’s got a bottle of wine in her bag.
Right enough about the book, let’s get back to discussing her ensemble (if you can really call it that).
As far as we know Groucho Club is rather fancy so why anyone would or could get away with wearing what she did is beyond us.
Don’t get us wrong the look is perfect for a Sunday afternoon stroll, but not to a nice venue.
Anna had even allowed her hair to take on a life of it's own AND she went make-up free (which is actually very rare for her).
There was also something a little funny going on in her lip area, which we can't work out whether it's due to too much red wine or something more sinister altogether.
Perhaps she has been taking tips from her scruffy other half Rhys Ifans or maybe it was just one of those days.
Don’t worry Anna we’ve all had them (in fact we do most days).
Something is not quite right there

Linda Dano on Liberace in HBO's Behind the Candelabra: “His Memory Was Crucified”!
Soap queen Linda Dano isn’t mincing words concerning HBO’s hit movie Behind the Candelabra.
After watching the film about her late friend and Another World guest star Liberace's relationship with Scott Thorson, Dano posted her reaction on Facebook saying, "his memory was crucified."
The real Liberace made appearances on NBC daytime soap opera ANOTHER WORLD in the years before he passed away. He came on the show for for a two week stint in May/June 1985. He returned in February 1986 for Felicia and Zane's wedding. Liberace was a friend of Felicia Gallant (Linda Dano) and played the piano at her wedding reception.
The classic clip below is from his 1986 appearance.
Sean Carrigan has been cast in the role of Stitch on Y&R. He will first air on Friday, June 28 an old Army buddy of Dylan's (Steve Burton). The role is recurring.
Carrigan has appeared in a number of primetime series and films including THE EVENT, THE FLIP SIDE, HART OF DIXIE and GREY'S ANATOMY.
Alison Sweeney, Greg Vaughan star in a new Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere, Second Chances, on July 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Hallmark Channel. Ed Asner, Charlotte Labadie and Benjamin Stockham also star.
Jenny McLean (Sweeney) is a single mom working at a 911-call center struggling to make ends meet and raise her two kids, Elsie (Labadie) and Luke (Stockham). Although still reeling from her divorce, Jenny can’t help but flirt when she gets emergency calls from Jeff (Vaughan), a local firefighter she nicknames “Cowboy” for his handsome voice.
But when she gets a call that Jeff has been hurt in a fire, she is determined to finally meet him face-to-face. With a broken leg and strict doctor’s orders not to walk on it or climb any stairs, Jeff needs a first-floor apartment where he can recover and Jenny is looking to rent out her guest room to earn extra income.
Brought together by the unusual circumstances, Jeff soon moves in and becomes part of the family and Jenny is reluctantly falling for him. After learning from Jeff’s firefighter friend Buddy (Asner) how Jeff’s father died as a fireman in the line of duty and after Jenny receives a 911 call from a police officer in a car chase who ends up dying, Jenny is reminded of how dangerous his job is and has to decide if her family can take a risk to let love in again.
Sweeney and Vaughan play twins Sami and Eric Brady in DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

On the Wednesday, June 5th episode of Hallmark Channel's MARIE, Marie Osmond remembers actress Jeanne Cooper who passed away on May 8. She is joined by Ms. Cooper's son, Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominated actor Corbin Bernsen to help celebrate the extraordinary life and career of the daytime legend. Together they discuss Corbin’s fondest memories with his mom and how her passing significantly affected him and his family.
Marie and Corbin reminisce on Jeanne’s incredible run on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as Katherine Chancellor, and Corbin remembers the exciting moment he found out he was nominated for an Emmy® the same year as his mother.
"I was. It was only a few years after the war. Paris was different then, still poor. Men couldn’t get jobs and, in the male chauvinist Paris of that time, the women couldn’t get work at all. It was perfectly respectable for them to go into le milieu."
"[I represented] a whole bordello. I represented them all, but her especially. I did a roaring business, and I was able to live for a year. The French mecs didn’t exploit women. They represented them, like agents. And they took a cut. That’s how I lived. I was going through my rites of passage, no question about it. It was a great year of my life."
No less than three projects consume his waking, non-“Daniel” hours: Spanners, a sci-fi, film noir “loooow budget” thriller, in which he produces and acts as an 8,000-year-old immortal with a “deep-dish monotone” voice; ADDICTS ANONYMOUS, a half-hour, single camera comedy for which Christian and his cohorts (including DAYS actor Freddie Smith) are seeking funding through kickstarter.com; and Carolina Blues, a movie he’s writing, loosely based on Sierra Lantz, the Kent City teen stock car driver who races her pink four-cylinder at Berlin Raceway and other venues. Christian is one of Lantz’s proudest racing sponsors.
Kassie DePaiva (Blair) will be blogging for PARADE about her insider’s take on all the drama in Llanview.
Are you loving having these great iconic stories back as much as I am? One Life is back in action and I love putting my “Blair on” again.
It has been so interesting to watch new stories unfold and stories we’ve invested in for years come to life again. Some things and some couples are the same, but it wouldn’t be a good soap without that element of surprise. Spoiler alert: There will be some shake ups, and boy will it be fun!
I’m enjoying watching our powerful younger actors knock it out of the park. Kelley Missel has been spot on with her portrayal of the Dani. Florenica Lozano made me want to hug my computer as she said goodbye to Victor. I can’t keep my eyes off of Robin Strasser, What will Dorian do next? And will my character “Blair” fall for Todd… again!!!
There are so many reasons to watch OLTL and so many easy ways to do it.
There’s a reason the fans cries were heard and these shows are back — because they never left our hearts.
A shift in her life began, she says, when she went to a Lutheran school's church service because it was recommended that as grandparents (Mills is married to actor and author Orson Bean) who are helping to place their grandchild in the school, they should attend.
"There on the wall [of the church where service was held] was a very old picture of Jesus and it was the same picture that the woman who raised me, my whole childhood, had by her bed," she said. "It was as if I was hit by a thunderbolt. I saw that picture and I suddenly remembered everything that I had not remembered at all about Mary (her caregiver) raising me pretty much from the age of two. She was a devout Christian. She was an African American. She kind of rescued me from a very crazy caregiver we had at that time, and always took me under her wing."

He then majored in business at the University of North Texas attending college on an athletic scholarship for football. He received a 4.0 grade point average his freshman year but later left college one semester short of graduating to move to New York. As previously reported, “General Hospital” alum Rena Sofer (ex-Lois Cerullo) is “The Bold and the Beautiful” bound and set to play Quinn Fuller, a jewelry designer and the mother of Darin Brooks’ Wyatt Fuller. But Bradley P. Bell, the show’s executive producer and headwriter, reveals that there’s more to the story!
“Rena’s powerful screen presence and vast range as an actress is what intrigued me most,” the exec says of why he chose the “Heroes” star for the upcoming dramatic storyline in which she’ll take part. “I look forward to challenging Rena with this role.”
As for what to expect when Sofer hits the screen on Friday, July 12, all you need to know is this: She’s got one hell of a secret, and it’s going to create quite an impact when it finally blows!
You’ve no doubt devoured the hard cover version of The Young and Restless Life of William J. Bell, the biography detailing the late daytime legend, former talk show host and “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” creator, and now there’s a lighter version you can easily carry to the beach this summer!
The book, originally released in hard cover form last June and now available in paperback form in bookstores nationwide, gives a detailed, behind-the-scenes look into Bell’s life, including memories pertaining to the birth and creation of two of daytime’s most popular shows. Bell’s wife, Lee Phillip Bell, co-wrote the biography, along with television reporter Michael Maloney. David Hasselhoff (ex-William Foster, ‘Y&R’) wrote the foreword.
“I hope soap fans enjoy the The Young and Restless Life of William J. Bell,” Maloney says. “It’s a chronicle of Bill and Lee’s inspiring life together — how they met, fell in love, followed their dreams, and built a soap opera empire along the way. There’s much of Bill’s philosophies on serialized storytelling in the book and untold anecdotes from the golden age of soap operas.”
It’s been awhile since Terri Conn (ex-Aubrey Wentworth, “One Life to Live;” ex-Katie Peretti, “As the World Turns”) has been in the public eye, but that’s all about to change! The actress will be joining Anthony Rapp (“Kidnapped,” “Adventures in Babysitting“) and Patrick James Lynch (“At the Top of the Pyramid”) in leading a benefit reading of “Deleted Scenes,” an event that will generate proceeds to help the Hemophilia Association of New York.
The reading, which will take place on Monday, June 10 at The Mainstage Theater in New York City, was organized by Lynch, a hemophiliac himself, in order to also raise awareness about the disease. “It’s an excellent opportunity to bring together two communities that may otherwise not find each other,” the actor told Broadway World of putting on the play, which follows two ex-friends who are forced to reunite and record the commentary track for a film they released five years prior, a situation made all the worse when one of their ex-girlfriends (Conn) shows up unexpectedly and intensifies the former buds’ rivalry.

In an interview published in the newest issue of Soap Opera Digest, Maria Arena Bell, the former executive producer and head writer of “The Young and the Restless,” shares that the soap submitted episodes #9,999 and #10,000 as part of their Emmy reel in the category of Outstanding Drama Series for the “40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards.”
“We felt those episodes, being sequential, were the peak of huge story,” she says. The episodes covered the mock funeral of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and the nonmarriage of Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Tucker McCall (Stephen Nichols). The soap submitted episode #9,999 in the category of Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team.
In addition to the “Y&R” Emmy nominations, Digest asked Bell what she thought of the “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” reboots.
“I think it’s wonderful. We’re closely watching with our friends at Prospect Park. I think the web is an amazing platform for this kind of storytelling. I hope those shows are very successful so that there will be an outcry for more and I’d like to be one of the people providing them.” When asked about her possible return to daytime soaps, Bell said, “You never know! I love the genre and I also love the idea of doing a non-network soap and the issues that you could explore that you really can’t as much on a network.” She added, “Things have gotten really politically correct and certain things are taboo and that’s not how soaps started. Soaps were groundbreaking on issues and much more exciting, so I think you can really do something online that could push the envelope a little more. I think you could really have some fun by thinking outside of the box, doing some new efforts in continuing drama. So, that’s what I’m really hopeful about. As you start a new production company or a new thing, you’ve got to have a lot of irons in the fire and just hope something connects. But I’m really excited. It’s a great time.”

Talking to US GQ about how came to be friends with Bowie and what they talk about, Gervais replied: "Music and comedy...I think I might have said what a huge fan I was. And I think he liked my stuff...I got him to do a little thing in Extras. I remember we went round his flat, and it's exactly as you'd expect it to be – just beautiful and tasteful and modern, and there's this wonderful statue. And I went, 'Oh, that's amazing'." Adopting the voice of David Bowie, Gervais continues: "Yeah, the artist, what he's trying to do there is do the 3-D representation of Picasso's 2-D representation of 3-D. My daughter likes to hit it with a hammer." I love people like that, because they're sort of aware of who they are. The first time he buzzed me in, the concierge called up and said, "Mr Jones?" Of course he's Mr. Jones! He's not fucking David Bowie! I met David Jones."
Asked later on in the interview about Bowie's turn on Extras, Gervais muses: "He's been a musical hero of mine for 30 years. When I called him up and I'd written 'Little Fat Man', I said, 'Have you got the lyrics?' and he went, "Yeah." I said, 'Can you do something quite retro, like ‘Life on Mars?'?' And he went [deadpan], "Oh, of course, yeah, sure. I'll knock off a quick ‘Life On Mars?', shall I?"
‘El Factor X’ Launches with Chino y Nacho, Belinda and Angelica Maria as Judges
The onslaught of Spanish-language music reality shows continues with the launch of “El Factor X” (“The X Factor”) this summer on upstart network MundoFox.
The Spanish-language version of “The X Factor” will feature Venezuelan tropical duo Chino y Nacho, Mexican pop star Belinda and veteran Mexican singer/actress Angélica María as judges, overseeing a competition for 8- to 15-year-old solo singers and vocal acts.
Competitors will be chosen through a series of open auditions taking place in Los Angeles (June 8), New York (June 22) and Miami (June 29). In addition, judges will travel cross-country in search of “unknown” acts. “El Factor X” is produced by Fremantle Media Latin America for MundoFox, a new Spanish-language American network that launched last year. MundoFox is a partnership between Fox International Channels and Colombia’s RCN Television, a major producer of original Spanish-language content.
In scoring “El Factor X,” MundoFox is signaling that it’s serious in its pursuit of the U.S. Latin viewer, an increasingly diverse playing field long defined by Telemundo and Univision.
News of “El Factor X” follows the successful launch of a series of music reality shows on Spanish-language television, many featuring kiddie talent. Last year, Puerto Rican station Wapa TV launched “Idol Kids Puerto Rico,” which in turn, was a spin-off of “Idol Puerto Rico.” And earlier this year, Telemundo started airing “La Voz Kids,” which has garnered record ratings for Telemundo.
Beyond children’s formats, this year also saw the launch of “Quiero Ser Grupero,” a show on Azteca América that searches for the next grupero star. On its end, Estrella TV continues to air its music reality competition “Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento,” which at one point had Jenni Rivera as a judge and which has garnered sustained success on the air.
Latin faces are also populating mainstream reality music shows, with Paulina Rubio newly announced as a judge on “The X Factor” in the U.S. and of course, Shakira in “The Voice.”
this is excellent cuz i get to see my bf every week on my TV but it sucks cuz they'll be working with kids. Plus LEGEND Angelica Maria will be on... and none for Belinda.
