Thanks to Bughead stans (since that's who EW congratulates in their article), this show managed to beat out Shameless, American Horror Story, and Stranger Things to become the show that's featured on Entertainment Weekly's annual Fall Preview issue. Along the way, they also beat The Flash, Arrow, Gotham, and One Chicago.
The above video is from their photo shoot for the issue which won't be on stands for awhile.

Apologies to Fred haters.
Nathalie Boltt (Penelope Blossom) posted a picture on her instagram of the table read for episode 6 which was a big mistake since you can see Luke Perry. It's not like it was really a mystery whether or not Fred would survive, but she obviously realized her mistake since she deleted the picture

Vanessa Morgan (Toni Topaz aka the actress getting shit from Bughead crazies) at the VMAs
On the more lighthearted end of her VMA interview experience about joining the show, she said she'd like for Toni to date Cheryl

Episode 7: Tales From the Darkside
This is one of my FAVORITE scripts for #Riverdale so far… But it won’t be for Jughead, Josie, and Betty… pic.twitter.com/b2Xt0yIH6n

Episode 8: House of the Devil. Of note, this episode is written by one of the few black women they have in the writers room. She previously wrote the episode where Chuck is a fuckboy and dark Betty is introduced.
Uh-oh. Now it’s #Archie and #Veronica’s turn to enter #Riverdale’s…House of the Devil!! Will #Varchie survive? pic.twitter.com/pMUO9smKeG

Julie Plec is directing an episode, but it's not known which one yet.
And by the way, congrats to #Riverdale for dominating the TV awards. I'll be there directing an episode for them this fall. Very psyched.

RAS flippantly teased a crossover but then it was later stated that Melissa was just dropping by as the set of Supergirl and Riverdale are right next to each other up in Vancouver
Look who dropped in to #Riverdale for a visit! Worlds colliding!! Can a crossover be far behind?? pic.twitter.com/E8Jf7UW3L2
