Rock band Brand New released their (possibly final) album Science Fiction last week randomly and to the surprise of fans, and is now being predicted to sell 55 thousand copies, giving them their highest ever debut at #1 on the charts.
The most controverisal song on the record that's been brought up in the overwhelmingly positive reviews is Desert, written from the point of view of a homophobic super conservative man, with lyrics like"I've seen those boys kissing boys with their mouth on the street/ But I raised my son to be a righteous man, I made it clear to him what fear of God means". The song is mocking Catholic/Christian views for being hypocritical af.
