The Daily Show with Trevor Noah

Yesterday night's late night shows put heavy emphasize on Trump's comments of "they will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before." The comment was made when asked about North Korea during a meeting about opioids from his golf club in New Jersey. Other topics that became late night fodder was the no-knock FBI raid on Paul Manafort and Trump's folder of good news about himself. Our weekly Samantha Bee chose to cover the subject of Steve Bannon, the judicial appointments that Trump has made and spotlighting the badass Peshmerga Women.

Who was out and about yesterday doing a promo tour?

- On Colbert, it was Claws' Niecy Nash, RPattz is doing promo for Good Time which is making it's US debut after being released at the 2017 Cannes, and the Tenth Doctor David Tennant.
- On Corden, it was Ingrid Goes West's Elizabeth Olsen and The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature's Maya Rudolph. Both are doing promo for a movie that has a release date of August 11th in the US.
- On Kimmel, it was Jim Parsons talking about Big Bang Theory and Discovery Channel's docuseries First In Human: The Trials of Building 10. One of the breakout stars from this summer Damson Idris from FX's Snowfall.
- On Fallon, we are graced by the presence of Oscar winner Brie Larson who is doing promo for the movie The Glass Castle which releases in the US on August 11th. The other guest on the show was Marlon Wayans.
- On Meyers, it was the duo of Colin Jost and Michael Che promoting Weekend Update who is about to come to primetime for the summer.

Taylor takes the stand in assult trial

Taylor Swift took the stand today in the assault trial against former DJ and current douchebag David Mueller....and she wasn't having any of the defense's bulls**t.

Some choice moments from Taylor included:

*telling the defense the reason the front of her skirt wasn't lifted in the meet and greet photo is because her ass in in the back of her body.

* telling the defense their client could have taken a normal photo with her when they tried to imply that she could have stopped the meet and greet right then and there if she felt uncomfortable.

*telling the defense she was leaning closer to Mueller's girlfriend because unlike Mr. Mueller, his girlfriend didn't have a hand on her ass.

*telling the defense she was not going to let them assign her blame for Mueller getting fired, that he made his own choices that led to that.

*Overall, Taylor said that unlike Mueller, she's not changing her story, that they can ask her every day what's happening in that photo and her story is never going to change because that's what happened.

Kpop group Red Velvet's "Red Flavor" was originally intended for Little Mix!

Songwriting/production duo Caesar & Loui did an interview for the site ToneGlow:

Red Velvet's "Red Flavor" is a massive hit and it is, in my opinion, the K-pop song of the summer. I feel like you don't really get a sense of how propulsive and joyful the song really is until the song slows down with Wendy's final line. Even then, there are a lot of details in the song that I feel like are easy to miss. What was the process like for writing this song?

This one we wrote by ourselves. It was actually aimed for the UK band Little Mix since we had a meeting with one of their A&Rs at the time. But we felt like it could work for the K-pop market as well! The song started with the track and the low voice you can hear in the intro and during the chorus. After that we just wrote the melodies and played around with the track. The result was the song "Dance With Nobody". It was the original title before the lyrics were translated into Korean. We hired our good friend and great singer Ylva Dimberg (writer; f(x), Girls' Generation, Taemin, etc.) to sing the demo of the song and you can actually still hear her background vocals in the pre-chorus! Finishing this song actually took a little bit longer than usual. We took a break from the song for a few months before finishing it just to listen to it with fresh ears. We’re really happy with how the song turned out. Red Velvet and SM did a really good job with the song!

@ Mixers - what do y'all think?
@ Kpop stans - at the source they also talk about working on LOONA's "Singing in the Rain", SHINee's "Wishful Thinking" (a piece of art!!!), f(x)'s "Spit it Out" as well as a few other songs - an interesting read tbh!

I had to be a lady in waiting and bide my time until they started to recognize. My first time doing dramatic work garnered me back-to-back Emmy nominations...You've got to figure out how to get your do-over."

Cameron wanted to cast Brolin in the film.

Brolin didn't want to do it, though, so he said no. Apparently, Cameron doesn't like being told no. Brolin tells Esquire:

“If I don’t want to do ‘Avatar,’ I’m not going to do ‘Avatar.’ James Cameron’s f—ing calling me this name and that name. Whatever. If James Cameron came to me and said, ‘Hey, man, why’d you say that?’ I’d go, ‘Because it happened.'”

US Weekly reported Wednesday that Angelina is second-guessing the divorce and willing to take back Brad.

However, a source tells ET that, "There’s a pause in the [divorce] process because they both made children the priority, but nothing significant has changed in their relationship."

As for a reconciliation?

“There isn’t one in the works.”
