"Friday Night Lights" character Jason Street may have been tied to a wheelchair, but the man who portrayed him is now tied to something far more pretty. Actor Scott Porter married his longtime love, Kelsey Mayfield, on Saturday in Austin, Texas.

Appropriately enough, the couple met in Texas while Porter, 33, was filming the fabled NBC drama and Mayfield was a cheerleader at the University of Texas at Austin. They were engaged in January 2012 following a four-year courtship.

"Today is the day," Porter, who now stars on The CW's "Hart of Dixie," tweeted. "There are no more tomorrows. And I could NOT be happier."

"Two families became one today," he added shortly thereafter, along with a photo of a sign directing guests on where to sit. "As today two families become one, we ask that you choose a seat, not a side. Love, Scott & Kelsey," it read.

Porter rocked a gray three-piece suit, while Mayfield looked stunning in a classic lace gown with cap sleeves. She carried a large bouquet of flowers in shades of pink and cream.

"We wanted to get married under a Texas sky, and it's going to be kind of a rustic chic wedding -- that's the term she throws around," Porter told Us Weekly in June 2012. "She's got the whole thing in her head and I trust her explicitly."

The reception included a candy bar with Wonka goodies and a sparkler-filled send-off.

Earth Day 2013 gets its own Google Doodle today, an honor that kicks off a day dedicated to reminding us to tread gently on this planet that we all share.

The Earth Day 2013 Google Doodle unveils a scenic mountain meadow, with a babbling brook and a lake that's home to a school of fish. Click around and you'll see more: fireflies, a bear emerging out of a cave, a -- what is that? a badger? -- as well as ants, and dandelions you can "blow out." The passing of the seasons provides a backdrop, all under the watchful, alternating eyes of the sun and the moon.

Google also posted this handy, dandy "sightseeing checklist" so you don't miss a single element of what is considered one of the most ambitious Google Doodles yet.

But the Earth Day 2013 Google Doodle isn't exactly surprising.
The doodle is known for celebrating unexpected benchmarks -- who would have predicted Nicolaus Copernicus' 540th birthday? But Google has reliably marked Earth Day in recent years. Here are the Earth Day Google Doodles for 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 ...

This year's Earth Day doodle has a serious side as well.

It underscores one of the Earth's most precious natural resources, and one that we in the United States may take for granted: fresh, clean, safe water.

According to UNICEF, nearly 4,000 children die each day due to unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation standards. Moreover, 783 million people worldwide do not have access to clean drinking water.

The Earth Day 2013 Google Doodle captures the water cycle, documenting the ties among snow-capped mountains, icy lakes, evaporation and rain, and groundwater.

If you're wondering what you can do this Earth Day to save the planet, here are some suggestions from the Environmental Protection Agency.

Among them: Don't waste water and other resources, use human powered modes of transportation (instead of your car), or plant a tree.

But we here at the Daily Dish especially love this suggestion: Buy locally. That helps offset pollution caused by the transportation of products, including food, the EPA says.

To that end, here's an L.A. Times Food map that will help you find your local farmers market. And in case you are wondering "Uh, how do I know what's in season? What do I do with it once I get it home?" Don't worry, we've got you covered.

Here's Los Angeles Times Food Editor Russ Parsons' guide to figuring out what produce is hitting its peak each month. His guide also includes quick and easy recipe suggestions.

You might also want to check out our weekly farmers market column by David Karp, who gives you the inside scoop on what specialties are arriving fresh. He also introduces you to the farmers putting that fresh food on your plate.

Happy Earth Day, everyone! How are you planning to celebrate?

Music fans are anxious to get a listen to the full version of Beyonce's cover of Amy Winheouse's "Back to Black" off The Great Gatsby soundtrack.

But the anticipation is much ado about nothing, according to Winehouse's dad Mitch.

"I don't think she brings anything to it,' he tells the Daily Mail.

Why did he allow Bey and Andre 3000 to cover it then? Well, money talks.

"For a price, of course," he explains. "They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can't tell you how much it is but it's a lot of money."

    Previously, he asked for £100,000.

Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell join Close Enough

Romantic drama about two war photographers will be directed by Song for Marion’s Paul Andrew Williams.

Hiddleston will play famous war photographer Robert Capa while Atwell will portray the equally famous first female war photographer Gerda Toro.

The story is set during their years in Paris in the mid-1930s and leads to a dramatic conclusion during the Spanish Civil War.

It will be directed by Paul Andrew Williams, the writer-director behind Song for Marion and London to Brighton.

Principal photography is set to begin in June 2013.

Production companies are Camera Entertainment BV (Netherlands), Kanzaman S.A. (Spain) and Steel Mill Pictures (UK).

It will be produced by Sim van Veen and Laurens Geels with Denise O’Dell, Mark Albela and Ken Marshall as executive producers.

Williams said: “The idea of bringing these two iconic, extraordinary characters to the big screen is one I relish.

“Not only is it a beautiful love story, but Capa and Gerda influenced each other in such a dramatic way that it changed the idea of photo journalism for ever.

“I am more than delighted to be working with Tom and Hayley. After I met with Tom his passion for this project and his commitment to the script and character was so exciting.

“Hayley is someone I have wanted to work with for a long time and after a few near misses we have finally found, what I believe to be, the best project to collaborate on.

“The chemistry between Capa and Gerda was electric and I have confidence that Tom and Hayley will repeat that chemistry on film.”

The Extra co-host Mario Lopez is coming back for another season hosting Fox’s The X Factor, but Khloe Kardashian is not. “Khloe Kardashian will not be returning to co-host The X Factor. We really enjoyed working with her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” X Factor producers said today. Both Lopez and the E! reality star were named as the new hosts of the competition series’ second season in October 2012. A seasoned hosting pro, Lopez easily fronted the show but Kardashian struggled, earning the mockery of many viewers. In today’s announcement about Lopez’s return, X Factor’s main man made no mention of Kardashian’s departure. “I’m thrilled Mario is back for Season Three of The X Factor. Hosting a live show and keeping the judges — especially Demi — in line, is not an easy job, but Mario is a pro and we are glad he’s coming back,” Simon Cowell said in statement.

Lopez joins Cowell and fellow judge Demi Lovato as the only regulars coming back for the third season. Lovato’s return was announced in March. After one season, Britney Spears exited officially in January. Veteran judge LA Reid said last year that he was out too. Cowell is now the only remaining judge from the show’s first season. No replacements have been announced for either Reid or Spears.

On June 16th the sixth season of True Blood begins. But already, there are horrible rumors about a major plot twist that would ruin our enjoyment of this vampire hump show forever. Let's hope it's not true. Major spoilers ahead...

According to many many online whispers Alexander Skarsgård may be departing the show in the 6th episode, via TRUE DEATH. TV Line is pushing this rumor forward pretty hard stating:

"I can neither confirm or deny the rumors, but I can offer you two pieces of evidence that suggest such a twist is in the realm of possibility. The first one comes care of Joe Manganiello, who tells TVLine, “We’re getting to the point in the season now where people are starting to die. The table reads are starting to get smaller, and I’m sure they will continue to do that.” Exhibit B, meanwhile, arrives in the form of Episode 7′s title — “The Funeral.” Sorry I don’t have better news for you.”

I think I speak for us all when I say, fuck this noise. No Vampire Eric? NO DEAL. There isn't a single character left on this series with the same sexual vibrato as Skarsgård. Forget about Bill, he's just a bloody merkin at this point. And the werewolf? He's nice to look at but there's not 1,000 years of sexual deviance boiling under those abs. Let's all just hope that this rumor is garbage.

This is why I'm only watching for everyone who's names aren't Sookie, Bill, Eric, or Alcide. Also Pam/Tara bonding, Claude, and these two hbic's

After making action-packed blockbusters such as The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day which depicted the possible Roland Emmerichend of civilization, director Roland Emmerich now plans to make a smaller film about the dawn of the modern LGBT equal rights movement — the Stonewall riots of 1969.

“I may want to do a little movie about the Stonewall riots in New York,” Emmerich said to Empire magazine. “It’s about these crazy kids in New York, and a country bumpkin who gets into their gang, and at the end they start this riot and change the world.”

Emmerich has enlisted John Robin Bates, whose queer-themed work includes Broadway’s The Paris Letter and TV’s Brothers and Sisters to write the screenplay. The director reveals that Bates’ take on the subject will follow a homeless gay teen who gravitates towards the Stonewall Inn and eventually gets caught up in the riots.

Emmerich, who is gay and whose new film White House Down will be released in June, explains why telling the story is important to him.

“It’s one of these civil rights moments, like Rosa Parks,” he said. “And very little is known about it. Even gay people don’t know much about it. There are only two books written about it.”

I can just see it now. The drag queens are going to shoot lasers from their eyes while NYC tumbles down around them yet no one gets killed until a giant wave of water comes crashing in on the city, which then turns to ice.

  • Source: Reese Witherspoon Did Not Pull The Don't-You-Know-Who-I-Am Card

News of Reese Witherspoon getting arrested was shocking, but what may have surprised fans even more was what the sweet, Southern mom of three reportedly said to police officers.

According to the police report, "Mrs. Witherspoon asked, 'Do you know my name?' I answered, 'No, I don't need to know your name.' I then added, 'Right now.' Mrs. Witherspoon stated, 'You're about to find out who I am'."

But a source tells E! News that the star insists it didn't exactly go down like people think.

"It wasn't like that," the source said, and explained that when the officer was handcuffing her, Witherspoon simply asked, "Do you know my name?"  as in "Don't you need to know my name?"

The source also added that there was no screaming or any sort of physical altercation between Witherspoon and the officer. "She was being protective of her husband and was fearful of the situation," they tell us.

Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth were arrested and jailed early Friday morning in Atlanta for an alleged DUI and disorderly conduct, after getting pulled over under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Around 3:30 a.m. the same day, the couple were released on bond. A court date has been scheduled for Monday at 8 a.m. in Atlanta Municipal Court.

But you wouldn't know the duo had any trouble this weekend by looking at them. The couple seemed more than fine, as witnessed by this photograph of them leaving their New York City hotel earlier today to attend Reese's premiere for Mud.

Zac Efron got the jitters while filming a sex scene with blonde bombshell Heather Graham. According to an April 20 report by the New York Post, Zac has had a crush on the “Boogie Nights” beauty for quite some time, so he was very nervous about jumping into bed with her in the movie “At Any Price.”

Zac Efron said this about his sex scene jitters: “I’ve been a fan of Heather’s and had a crush on her since I can remember. She’s always been the epitome of that perfect girl. I wanted to get it right.” It’s funny that Zac got so nervous about shooting a normal love scene -- you would think that it would have been easy for him after he had Nicole Kidman erotically pee on him in “The Paperboy.”

Luckily for Zac, Heather Graham is a sex scene pro. She played adult film actress Roller Girl in the movie “Boogie Nights,” and she had a few steamy scenes in the erotic thriller “Killing Me Softly.” She also shot lesbian love scenes in “Boogie Woogie” and “About Cherry,” and she even hopped in bed with Fat Bastard in "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me." It's safe to say that Zac is probably well-aware of “The Hangover” hottie’s body-baring body of work.

Heather was also impressed with Zac Efron, so there was no need for him to have the jitters. According to The Huffington Post, here’s what she said about her costar: "Zac is just really together. I’m so amazed by how smart and hard working he is. And he has the craziest fans of any actor I’ve ever worked with ... like they’re screaming and waiting outside the set for hours. We ate at a restaurant and when we came out there were 30 teenage girls waiting outside screaming at the top of their lungs. It’s like the Beatles!"

Their movie “At Any Price” is the story of a man who wants his son to expand their family’s farming empire. However, his rebellious offspring just wants to be a professional race car driver. Dennis Quaid stars as the father, and Zac plays the son who has to help his family when a crisis threatens their livelihood.

It’s always tricky casting a white actor to play a famous minority, so when Johnny Depp strapped a bird to his head to play Tonto in The Lone Ranger, those involved had to know they were going to take some heat for it (unless they’re complete idiots, and having seen Jerry Bruckheimer’s previous movies, the jury’s still out). I don’t think it’s always wrong for a white actor to play a non-white role, but if you’re an American Indian actor or an actor from another historically marginalized group, I can understand why you’d be pissed about one of the precious few roles specifically tailored to you going to a white dude. (Though for what it’s worth, Depp does describe his great grandmother as “quite a bit of a Native American.”). Meanwhile, Depp’s Lone Ranger co-star Armie Hammer, possibly the whitest man alive, says it wasn’t an issue at all, because the American Indians they talked to during filming (some of them paid consultants, presumably) all thought his kemosabe’s kabuki was hunky-dory. Hakuna matata and all that shit.

The actor turned up in Las Vegas with Depp last Wednesday to unveil 20 minutes of new footage from the film to movie theater owners at CinemaCon. Before being honored as the Male Star of Tomorrow at the conference a day later, Hammer defended his film’s depiction of Tonto, saying that the cast worked with many Native Americans on the project.

“They were nothing but excited about it. They loved it — they’re thrilled,” the actor said in an interview. “It’s so funny, because every Native American we talked to was like, ‘This is awesome! I’m so excited.’ And every white person we talked to was like, ‘How dare you cast a non-Native American?’ It’s like, the white people are the one who have the problem, but the Indians — the Native Americans — are like, ‘This is great. We love it.’” [LATimes]

Sure they did, but then again, the ones he talked to were probably hanging around craft services all day, and you know how those people get around the fire water (*pantomimes “glug-glug”*). What? What’d I say? I kid, I kid. On a serious note, Armie Hammer has to walk a delicate line defending the dubious decisions of people cutting him a huge paycheck, and as such it’s all but impossible for him not to say the occasional kinda dumb thing. I don’t have a problem with Johnny Depp playing an American Indian (not that it’s my place to…), but I do think it’s hilarious to watch them try to spin Johnny Depp starring in a Jerry Bruckheimer movie as some kind of tribute to the proud American Indian peoples. That’s basically like McDonalds calling their breakfast burritos a show of solidarity with the Latino community.
