Johnny Depp, seen here in Las Vegas on Wednesday, says he want to portray Carol Channing (Frederick M. Brown/Getty …
Johnny Depp has played his share of real-life people. He is starring as former Boston gangster Whitey Bulger in the upcoming crime drama "Black Mass" (due out next year). And in the past he's been the cinematic alter ego of low-budget '50s filmmaker Ed Wood, FBI agent Joseph D. Pistone (in "Donnie Brasco"), and gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson -- whom Depp has played twice now.
But the chameleonic 49-year-old actor has set the bar a lot higher for his dream biopic. "Carol Channing. I mean that. She's fantastic," Depp said during Yahoo! Movies's live "Lone Ranger" Q&A on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
Asked by a fan who he would like to play next in a film, Depp indicated he was serious about his plan to play comedic actress Channing, who is now 92 years old. Later in the discussion, Depp also quipped that he dressed up as Channing when he was a kid -- and not as any of "The Lone Ranger" characters.
He added that he would also love to do the life story of 86-year-old comedian Don Rickles, joking, "I don't know if he's well known in China."
Depp, who plays Tonto in this summer's "The Lone Ranger," was on stage with the masked man himself, Armie Hammer. The film's producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski joined the ride.
When Depp got more serious, he admitted he slept in his thick white and black Tonto makeup during "The Lone Ranger" shoot. "You really can't go into a restaurant at that point," he joked, adding that he sat in the makeup chair for up to two hours every time the gunk was applied. "It smells exactly how it looks," Hammer chimed in, indicating it was stinky.
All four men revealed "The Lone Ranger" shoot was tough. Verbinski said it was his toughest. In fact, he and Hammer said they can't even watch the finished film without thinking about the toil. "Every image that shows up is a sense memory of absolute misery and pain and torture and nothing was going right and the weather was horrendous," Verbinski recalled. "You watch it and you remember being there," Hammer said, adding his reaction to seeing 20 minutes of footage shown at CinemaCon on Wednesday went something like this: "Man, it was 120 degrees that day, the cameras weren't working because it was so hot." Hammer added that some of the crew were forced to carry 1,500-pound camera dollies over the crest of a mountain – "experiences you wouldn't get on any other movie."
Depp concurred, the road to "Ranger" was rough, saying he was "in the trenches … the muck" and that it was "miserable at times."
The height of his misery, he indicated, was when he almost got trampled by a horse. "[When] you're on a horse moving at high speed and you realize you're under it … suddenly staying alive on the horse was my biggest challenge." He later describe seeing "the striations of muscle in his enormous body," then trailed off into jokes with the panel about nearly consummating his relationship with the animal.
Channing and horse jokes. Go figure.
"The Lone Ranger" gallops into theaters July 3.
So he did get a haircut.. maybe that impostor in New Forest was him afterall
Kanye West is reportedly hard at work on his next album out in Paris. Rumor has it he's been kicking around musical ideas with Frenchmen Daft Punk and fellow Chicagoan Chief Keef. It looks as if Keef is already incorporating a new approach.
Well, Page Six of the NY Post is reporting that 'Ye is scheduled to come back to the States in May to appear on Saturday Night Live. While SNL hasn't announced it's official lineup, the Post is reporting Kanye will appear on the show May 18.

"A spaceship salvage team drags the TARDIS on board, sending its systems into meltdown. As the Doctor marshals the motley salvage crew outside, he realises Clara is still trapped within his malfunctioning ship, pursued by a dangerous group of ossified monsters. He has just 30 minutes to find Clara and save his TARDIS before it self-destructs"
"There’s something very odd about Mrs Gillyflower’s Sweetville mill, with its perfectly clean streets and beautiful people. There’s something even stranger about the bodies washing up in the river, all bright red and waxy. When the Doctor and Clara go missing, it’s up to Vastra, Jenny and Strax to rescue them before they too fall victim to the Crimson Horror!"
"Hedgewick's World of Wonders: the perfect theme park day out - and ground zero for a deadly silver resurrection." (full synopsis yet to be released)
BBC Youtube Channel also released two clips from this week's episode "Hide":
"Teen Wolf" actor Dylan O'Brien will play Thomas in 20th Century Fox's The Maze Runner, reports Deadline. He will be joining Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen and Thomas Brodie-Sangster in the adaptation that starts filming in May in Baton Rouge. Based on the book by James Dashner, the first book in the sci-fi trilogy is described as follows:
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he's not alone. When the lift's doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.
Just like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they've closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.
Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.
Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.
Wes Ball will direct the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2014.
Just when you thought Nicki Minaj was ready to play nice with Mariah Carey, the Super Bass singer sniped at her fellow judge on Wednesday’s show, putting on a phony English accent and sarcastically telling Mariah to “Simmer down sir.”
“No, I do and I’ll explain,” Nicki said — at which point Mariah tried to interject again — and she told her, “Simmer down, sir.”“I disagree … that was the best performance of the night,” Nicki said, to which Mariah chimed in, “I wasn’t saying she was awkward … you don’t really disagree with me.”
And some fans on Twitter had a similar reaction.
"Why does Nicki Minaj try to start [with] Mariah like she 60x better than you will ever be," one user wrote.
"[Nicki Minaj] need[s] to show some respect to Mariah Carey. Like at least respect each other's opinion. I love you Mariah," one viewer wrote.
Another added: "Lol at [Nicki Minaj] trying to "disagree" [with] Mariah when Mariah was talking about something else."
And though Minaj's many fans tweeted they thought the "sir" comment was funny, the rapper still seemed to offer an olive branch to Carey later in the night. Minaj, possibly in attempt to smooth things over, complimented the music icon's vocal skills at one point.
After Candice Glover's performance of "When You Believe," Minaj talked about the impressive collaboration of the original version of the song, which was performed by Carey and Whitney Houston.
Fans of Carey took the opportunity to gloat about the compliment.
"Today's episode of American Idol just reminded me why Mariah Carey is a queen..like Nicki Minaj just had to show some respect," one user wrote on Twitter.
But others praised the rapper for her kind words.
"Thanks for being "sweet" to Mariah tonight [Nicki Minaj]!" one fan tweeted.
"I agree with Nicki Minaj. For once," another wrote. "She even complimented Mariah. What."

For Wednesday, April 17, 2013:
Liz wanted me to mention that it's Conan's 50th birthday. Dang, he old.
Justin Bieber's poverty-stricken grandfather thinks the singer ''has forgotten'' his family.
George, 61, cannot work because of a painful back problem and he has revealed he and his wife Kathy - Justin's step-grandmother - have received no support from his superstar grandson.
The lack of help comes despite the 'Beauty and the Beat' singer's grandparents having very limited income and living in difficult conditions - a hole in the roof caused by a falling tree goes unfixed.
George said: ''Justin has just got too big for his britches. He never calls us and now I sometimes think he doesn't care ... [He] seems to be getting caught up in this lavish lifestyle and has forgotten us.
''When I hear about his recent behavior I just wonder who on earth is looking after him as, believe me, this is not the loving little boy we always knew.
''It's like we now live on different planets.''
As his grandparents continue to struggle, the 19-year-old pop star recently endured a difficult and controversial UK trip including a confrontation with a photographer and turning up two hours late for a show.
And he is apparently able to help his maternal grandmother and her second husband, which upsets George.
He told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: ''For them nothing seems to be too much trouble. He buys them new houses, cars, luxury holidays - anything they want. But for us - nothing.
''I would love a new house as now I cannot even make it upstairs, my back is so bad. But I guess that is not on the cards for us.''
He admitted their situation is becoming ''desperate'' and he can't grasp the level of wealth his grandson now enjoys.
He added: ''Justin might be worth £70 million but we certainly have never seen a penny of it. It does make me sad, as right now our life is pretty desperate.
''It's had to imagine the money Justin has, as it's about as far removed from our life as you could get.''
Conan O’Brien turned 50 recently and to celebrate, we decided to take a look back at his best contributions as a writer during the golden age of The Simpsons. Enjoy.
O’Brien is now more famous as a late-night TV talk-show host, of course, but he will always be remembered for his contributions as a writer for The Simpsons during two seasons of what was undoubtedly a golden age for the animated TV show in the early nineties.
O’Brien was hired as a writer for the show in 1991 and worked on it until 1993, when he replaced David Letterman as the host of a new late night chat show, which would come to be called Late Night with Conan O’Brien and ran until 2009.
O’Brien was chief writer on a number of episodes in season four and season five and below are our favourite episodes from that era, the last of which ‘Bart Gets Famous’, included a cameo appearance from O’Brien after he had left.
Happy birthday Conan and thanks for the memories.
1) Marge vs The Monorail (written by Mr. O'Brien)
‘I’ve sold monorails to Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook and by gum, it put them on the map.’
Btw it really shows Conan's love for "The Music Man". He would also go on to perform a similar-sounding number during the Emmy's. He was actually offered the role of Harold Hill for the revival but he had to do Late Night.
2) Homer Goes to College (written by Mr. O'Brien)
3) New Kid on the Block (Written by O’Brien and featuring the Sea Captain, a character reportedly created by O’Brien… Yarr)
‘Does this look like a man who had ALL he can eat?’
4) Treehouse of Horror IV (Wraparounds by O’Brien)
'Mmmm… forbidden donut'
5) Whacking Day
‘And now, to open this year’s festivities, here’s our Grand Marshall, the prophet of love, Larry White.’
‘It’s Barry White’.
‘No, it says here, Larry White.'
‘I know my own name.’
‘Yeah, well we’ll see’.
The rest of the list can be seen AT THE SOURCE
Also, Conan recently hosted a Simpsons writers reunion, which can be watched here.
Flawfree ginger is flawfree.
I am so sad that this is gonna be cancelled, I really like it :(
also what happened to JHud's character? lol
Considering all the fervor over part one of Justin Timberlake‘s million-plus-seller The 20/20 Experience, fans are surely counting down the days until they get another new album from him.
While this current release has only been out for a month, producer and Timbaland protégé J-Roc is offering up some key details about what’s next for the former boy bander. The album will borrow some from Timberlake’s 20/20 recording sessions, but spankin’ new music is also definitely in the works.
“Before we came to the 10 [songs] that he wanted and the two bonus tracks, we had over 30, 40 tracks,” he opened up to Billboard about the release, slated to hit retailers in November. “So I think he’s going to go in, and we’re going to take some of the stuff that we’ve already done, and of course create more music at the same time.”
In fact, not all of this current set of 20/20 tunes are from recording sessions designated for the album. Timberlake’s current single, “Mirrors,” was already in the works back in 2009, eventually making its way onto20/20, but with a new feel to it. “We segued each piece to go into another song, so if you were to break it up, that second part of ‘Mirrors’ is like a song by itself,” he revealed. “Once we got all the songs that [Timberlake] knew he wanted on this album, then that’s when we began to tie everything together, and the second part just fell in order.”
Timberlake is set to hit the road with his “Suit & Tie” collaborator Jay-Z on their Legends of the Summer trek beginning in July. It’s slated to kick off on July 17 in Toronto and wraps up August 16 in Miami. So somewhere along the way, Timberlake will once again be in the studio putting the finishing touches on it.
At a record release party in March, Timberlake kept the details vague about it, only teasing, “The news that this is only the first half of the album, that’s true. That’s all I’m gonna say!” The Roots’ ?uestlove first blew the whistle about the part two on Twitter, also clearing up just how Timberlake came up with that album name, “20/20 Vol. 2 comes out in Nov. 10 songs now … 10 songs later = 20 vision.”
Do you hope the sequel will return to Timberlake’s roots or continue in20/20 vision? Leave a comment!

Canadian giant Entertainment One will team with Martin Katz’s Prospero Pictures to back David Cronenberg’s upcoming ensemble thriller Maps To The Stars. Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon are to star in the ghost story that’s described as a scathing attack on celebrity-obsessed LA. The script is by Wild Palms‘ Bruce Wagner.
EOne will also handle worldwide sales, which it plans to launch in Cannes next month, and distribute in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia/NZ. Production starts in July in Toronto and LA. This is Cronenberg and Katz’s fourth collaboration. Katz and SBS Films’ Saïd Ben Saïd are producing. Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab, Cronenberg’s manager, will exec produce. EOne’s Benedict Carver is also exec producing and will oversee for the studio. Integral Films’ Alfred Hurmer is co-producing.

We're not going to lie: After a series of clues, we spent a good chunk of today anxiously awaiting Ariana Grande and Jennette McCurdy's surprise, which led to #SamAndCatSurprise to trend worldwide on Twitter. But just when we felt like we couldn't wait any longer, the "Sam & Cat" co-stars finally revealed that the hit Nickelodeon series will be premiering in June!
Before the big announcement, the girls proved that they're really good at teasing us. See the hilarious chain of tweets below.
But at least we knew we wouldn't have to wait until August... Phew.
And then Ariana tweeted THIS:
And Jennette tweeted this awesome cartoon:
Oh, Jennette. You're so silly.
What did you think of Ariana and Jennette's #SamAndCatSurprise? Will you be tuning in for the 'Sam & Cat' premiere?
Doctor Who bosses have boldly gone and copied Star Trek in a bid to bring back all the old Time Lords for the show’s 50th anniversary special.
Viewers will see Matt Smith, 30, mingle with all the actors from the previous BBC series, including the late William Hartnell and Jon Pertwee.
TV chiefs came up with the plan, thanks to fellow sci-fi smash Star Trek.
In 1996, the cast of spin-off series Deep Space Nine had an adventure with the original Enterprise crew Captain Kirk and Mr Spock (William Shatner, 82, and Leonard Nimoy, 82) as they looked in the 1960s.
The show used hi-tech wizardry to digitally insert the young stars from Deep Space Nine into old footage from an episode called The Trouble With Tribbles, which aired in 1967.
Now BBC bosses plan to do the same. In November’s TV special to mark 50 years of Doctor Who, fans will see the current Doctor come face to face with all of the former Doctors who include Tom Baker, 79, Colin Baker, 69, and Peter Davison, 62.
He will be “placed” into clips from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s to make it look as though he is really there and interacting with his old Time Lord selves.
Ex-Doctor Who star David Tennant, 42, is the only actor who will appear in the flesh in the episode.
And former show writer Robert Banks Stewart has let slip that as well as bringing back The Zygons, fans will see a carnival of monsters including Daleks and Cybermen.
Kris Humphries settled his divorce battle with his wife of 72 days, Kim Kardashian, because he felt “sorry for her,” according to a friend of the Brooklyn Nets power forward.
“Yes, he was angry at Kim for the way their marriage ended and he truly did feel defrauded by her and the show,” the pal of the 28-year-old told Wetpaint.
“But lately, especially in recent weeks, he just feels sorry for her.
“She’s pregnant and obviously under a lot of stress. He didn’t want to be part of it any more.”
In a statement released to RadarOnline.com on Friday, a spokesperson for Humphries said he was now focused on the Nets Eastern Conference playoff quest, which begins against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.
“Kris and his family are excited to move forward and are grateful for all of the support they have received in this process,” the statement read.
“His commitment to the Brooklyn Nets and the team’s incredible fans is his number one priority and he is excited to head into the playoffs tomorrow with this situation behind him.”
Kim, 32, and Kris were married in a lavish television wedding at a Montecito, Calif. estate in August 2011, but after just 72 days of wedding “bliss,” the E! star filed for divorce in October, 2011.
A source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com Kris came to the realization in the 24 hours before Friday’s settlement that the whole melodrama was a “sh*t sandwich” and that he had “zero chance” of proving their marriage was a fraud.
“Kris didn’t want the team impacted by his personal life,” the insider said.
“If the Nets advanced in the playoffs, the trial would have taken place during the games and basketball comes first for Kris.
“He also realized that he didn’t have a chance in hell of proving that Kim defrauded him. In the end, his lawyers were able to finally make him recognize that not only would he be missing out on the playoffs with the Nets, but would likely be ordered to pay Kim’s legal fees.
“Kris recognized it was a sh*t sandwich and chose to settle.”
Kim is currently pregnant with rapper Kanye West’s child.
Tori Spelling "loves" being pregnant.
The 39-year-old actress has four children - Finn, seven months, Liam, 6, Stella, 4, and Hattie, 18 months - with husband Dean McDermott and although she had a difficult pregnancy with Finn, which landed her in and out of hospital for the final four months, she would do it all over again.
She said: "I love being pregnant. I'm one of those crazy women. It's so beautiful. I love how I am now because I can wear all my clothes but I wouldn't mind being pregnant forever.
"Finn is amazing, truly our miracle baby. He is all boy, such a little dude and a bruiser. He idolizes the big kids so much."
Spelling says she feels grateful to have such a loving partner and doesn't feel wary of her weight as she is "totally happy" in her current situation.
She added: "I've had so many kids I'm not sure what my old size is but I feel like I took the weight off safely and I'm totally happy here.
"Dean has always been very clear that he loves me at any weight and shape. He loved me when I was 160 pounds just after I had Finn. I am thankful to have him."
However, she does make the occasional effort to keep fit but often finds her weight fluctuates.
She explained to Us Weekly magazine: "I'd lose a few pounds a week and I was really proud of myself. Then on another week I wouldn't lose anything. When that would happen I would up my cardio and it would go down again."
Welkome to your weekly Kourtney Kardashian Fashian Post! Under the kut you will find the kutest klothes the Kween of Kalabasas has worn over the past few weeks with appearances by her kids and some of the Kardashian Krew.
My Kween and her beautiful family attended church service last Sunday looking seriously chic wearing a Fifteen Twenty top, Cameo shorts from DASH, Dita sunglasses from DASH, a Prada diaper bag, and Stuart Weitzman gladiator flats. I'm convinced that not only is Lord Disick an undercover ONTD reader, but that he has heard your numerous demands that he keep his sexy scruff because it has elevated him into DILF territory.
Kourtney is the Kween of Mommy-chic and knows how to look both stylish and comfy. Here she is with her baby daddy spending some quality playtime at the park with her little ones. She is wearing a Myne sweater from DASH, Hudson jeans, Balenciaga flats, and Tom Ford sunglasses.
Some of you may not like this next look but personally it's one of my faves. Kourtney is never afraid to take a fashion risk and she certainly does so in this outfit she wore to a friend's baby shower. She is wearing a tribal print dress by Amber Sakai, Tom Ford sunglasses, Manolo Blahnik pumps, a Birkin bag, and a vintage cross necklace.
After so many weeks of wearing kwestionable klothes, Kween Kourtney is finally getting back in the swing of things by dressing for her small shape. For dinner out, the chic one chose a Love Sam jacket from DASH, a Monrow t-shirt from DASH, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Jean Michel Cazabat pumps, a Celine bag, Benjamin sunglasses and a Veronique Valley Girl ring from DASH. I actually love the rolled up jeans and have done this myself, as us short peoples are forced to do on occasion.
Here's a pic of Kourtney rocking what she describes as "Casual Mommy Style" in a cute baseball t-shirt, black Converse sneakers and Kardashian Kollection leggings from Sears.
