Janet Patterson, Australian Oscar nominated costume designer, dies

  • Was nominated for Oscars 4 times for The Piano, Portrait of a Lady, Oscar and Lucinda + Bright Star.

  • Also did the costumes for the 2015 version of Far From the Madding Crowd and the 2003 Peter Pan film.

  • Was very private and refused interviews and press. Her family confirmed she had died through her agent and refused to reveal any details including her age.

  • Nicole Kidman, who worked with her on Portrait of a Lady, released a statement: She's not here anymore, but she lives on through those beautiful clothes and images.

About: Nick Broomfield's second documentary on Aileen Carol Wuornos, a highway prostitute who was executed in 2002 for killing six men in the state of Florida. This second installment includes the filmmaker's testimony at Wournous's trial.



Carl Panzram: The Spirit of Hatred and Vengeance



About: A lifelong criminal and serial killer, Carl Panzram befriends Henry Lesser, a young jail guard at a Washington DC jail in 1928. After hearing of Panzram's torture, Lesser sends Panzram one dollar and convinces the killer to write his autobiography while secretly supplying him with pencil and paper. Panzram writes over 40,000 words documenting his entire life of incarceration, torture, rape, and murder.

About: There is no doubt that Arthur Shawcross is a psychopath. Found guilty of killing 2 children and 11 prostitutes his tales of cannibalism and mutilation have made him one of America's most notorious serial killers. That he killed 13 people by asphyxiation is certain.

Doc about survivors of Rwandan Genocide hopes to show viewers that rape is about power not sex

Documentary is about the conviction of Jean Peal Akayesu, who was the first person convicted of genocide and rape as a crime against humanity in an international court, for his role commanding soldiers to kill over 1 million people—mostly ethnic minority Tutsis—and raping up to 250,000 women throughout Rwanda in 1994.

TW RAPE
- Film is centered around 3 survivors whose testimony helped secure his conviction - 1 had malaria at the time of his trial, 1 had given birth three days prior. The third 17 years old when she gave testimony.

- Director Michelle Mitchell was inspired to do a film on rape in conflict after she heard Todd Akin say on the radio that a woman could not get pregnant from "legitimate rape" because she had a way to shut down her body.

"My immediate reaction was, "That's it, I've had it. I am going to to tell a story that takes the sex out of sex crimes." I thought, "Well, what if I tell the story about the first time it was prosecuted?""

- She wanted to make a film about rape as a weapon of war, where they is no 'ambiguity' or question of consent to facilitate a cultural shift in how people regard rape.

"If people sign on to [the idea that rape in conflict] is an act of deadly intent—an act of power, torture, humiliation—then they have to start thinking differently about sexual violence here domestically. Because they do go hand in hand."

-Director got PTSD through making the film.

-Despite horror discussed in it film is optimistic - asks survivors not what happened to them but how they survived, why they decided to testify, how they were victorious in the trial.

-Since Akayesu's trial, the survivors lives have changed; before they hadn't even talked to their own families about what they went through, now they can because they are national heroines for helping ensure Akayesu's conviction.

"I always describe it [rape] as the ultimate act of bullying. It's not about sex, no. This is about harming someone. It's proving that you have power."

He said: "Originally, they were much more angry at each other, and truthfully it wasn't working. Originally in this scene, Finn revealed that he was a stormtrooper. And in this scene, she had never heard of Luke Skywalker, which didn't really make sense, because later, she's heard of Han Solo, and she's been wearing the Rebellion helmet, you just didn't quite buy it. But the idea was that her life was so isolated, so sad, so without hope, that the most optimistic thing, that was Luke Skywalker himself, was nothing but a Myth. And the idea is that Finn brings this hope to her. Also this really fun concoction that Finn is lying to her, that his truth that he's actually a stormtrooper is covered up by this lie that he's with the Resistance. That allows for Daisy to sort of fall for this guy that's this daring, brave, good man, but of course he's lying. And she's so lost in her own life that when she hears the name of Luke Skywalker here, she doesn't even believe it's real."

JJ Abrams has talked in the past about re-writing Rey and Finn's relationship: "It was much more contentious. I didn’t direct it right. It was set up all wrong, and when Harrison Ford got injured — which was a very scary day — we ended up having a few weeks off, and it was during that time that I really got to look at what we had done and rewrite quite a bit of that relationship. So when we came back to work again, we actually just reshot from the ground up, those scenes. It was an amazingly helpful thing to get these two characters to where they needed to be."

The lovable Cockney herself, Candice! She did great in the show-stopper (got a handshake from Paul!), came second in the Technical and out-shone Jane and Andrew with her delicious hamper full of goodies (including sausage rolls that looked like little pigs, complete with a pork crackling tail and everything).

This is the last series on the BBC, it will now move to Channel 4, sans Mary, Mel and Sue and will no doubt be ruined by the sodding advert breaks.

And none for Andrew lol bye

Adele Endorses Hillary Clinton

Queen of Pop Adele performed in Miami last night and told her supporters of Trump: "Don't vote for him." Hillary Clinton was in the audience and said "I can't vote but I am 100% for Hillary Clinton, I love her, she's amazing."

"I am English, but what happens in America affects me, too," Adele told the crowd.

Trump tried to drag Hillary's stamina and concert attendance saying she goes to one stop and then goes to sleep, criticizing her for taking time off the same day he took time off to open some hotel in DC.

Game of Custody War-Lena Headey must return to Los Angeles with son

-Lena provided proof in a court of a document in which her ex agreed to a statement that agreed to Lena moving in the UK with their son and him moving there as well "I am confirming that I agree to Lena Headey keeping our son Wylie Loughran in the UK ... if all parts of said deal are put in place ...".

-she said she just wants this custody battle to be over

-also that she's gotten extremely frustrated with her ex as she has offered to pay for his tickets to England as well as made up a Face-timing schedule in which they could talk.




-Despite providing proof that her ex agreed to move to the UK and agreeing to her going there the judge thinks Lena violated her custody agreement.

-Lena wanted to keep her son in England permanently because she hates the US school system

-The custody agreement gives her ex 10 day visitation per month.

-Lena will paying for plane tickets to England for her ex until she moves back to LA with her son

Character actor Michael Massee passes away at age 61

Variety is currently reporting that character actor Michael Massee has passed away today. While details of his death are unknown at this time fellow actor and Interventions co-star Anthony Delon confirmed Massee's death via an instagram post earlier today.

While Massee had many credits to his name including a recurring role on 24 as well as appearances in Se7en, Carnivàle, Rizzoli & Isles and even Supernatural Massee was most widely known for his role in the tragic death of Brandon Lee. While playing the role of Funboy he shot Lee with an improperly loaded prop gun that ultimately killed the actor. Massee was never able to get over the tragedy and found himself unable to ever watch The Crow (his second film project ever).

Massee is survived by his wife and their two children.

Two decades after she starred in the classic film 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation' Renee Zellweger is finally talking about the film that launched her career.

"Best workout ever. Yeah, a live chainsaw, that's a motivation to get running, run fast. It was very low-budget, so we all shared a tiny Winnebago that the producer of the film - it belonged to him, it was his personal camper. So, you know, makeup was in the front seats and there was a table in the middle for hair, and there was a tiny little curtain by the bathroom. That was where you put your prom dress and your flower on.

"And friends, friends for life. McConaughey, Robert Jacks, who played Leatherface. He's passed now, but he was one of my favorites. It was ridiculous. How we pulled that off, I have no idea. I'm sure none of it was legal. Anything we did was a little bit dangerous But what an experience. It was kamikaze filmmaking."

Little Mix hit back at accusations that #ShoutOutToMyEx sounds like GRL's ugly heart+set up hotline

After GRL tweeted "#ShoutOutToMyUglyHeart" only hours after LM released their single, people have been making up things about the similarities between GRL's song and Shout Out To My Ex.
A radio host even very rudely confronted the girls with the comparison by playing both tracks live on air, making the interview really awkward. The girls had this to say:

Jade pointed out she and Emmalyn of GRL are friends and said "Every song is going to have a similar chord sequence, slightly similar lyrics and melodies – it happens all the time."
Leigh Anne graciously just said Ugly Heart sounds a bit more country and Perrie added "I just think, stop trying to hop on the bandwagon."

"Stop trying to get publicity" - Jesy, being flawless as usual, about the GRL copying accusations
