Nadal won't be at Wimbledon

Nadal had hoped his wrist would need to be immobilised for only two weeks and that the injury would have cleared up in four weeks, giving him a chance of playing Wimbledon.

The Spaniard, who turned 30 last Friday, is also desperate to be fit for the Olympics in Rio having missed the London Games with knee problems. Nadal has been selected as flag bearer for the opening ceremony, a role he had been due to perform in 2012.

"It's Alright" was originally Kelly's, but she gave it to her group and this was the first song they ever recorded in the studio.

"All of Us" is a buzz single that was released on iTunes and all streaming platforms. Its even better live.

The vocals, harmonies, bops are all there! Shyann, Brienna, ans Kristal are all great dancers too. Gabby is ok and should be better with practice. Ashly has trouble, but she hired a dance teacher and Frank is always making them do ballet and other dances. Their choreo should be good... i just hope Frank doesnt steal anything

ONTD Original: That time your fave artist snatched a hit from another

0
0

Today’s pop music landscape may have looked very, very different had a handful of singers accepted the tracks that were originally written for them. For whatever reason, artists pass up demos all the time and sometimes the demos later go onto someone who turns it into a smash. This occurrence is not at all uncommon in the music world: the past half-century is littered with examples of iconic pop songs that were originally intended for someone else to perform. Obviously, iconic pop songs could easily have become duds had every artist accepted every song offered to them, but it’s fun to see who passed on now-famous songs. Check out these 10 instances of smash songs being snatched from other artists.

"S.O.S"
Snatched by: Rihanna

In a hits-packed career, "S.O.S." still stands out for Rihanna: the infectious dance track spent three weeks atop the Hot 100, notching the queen of snatching her first number one single.

Turned down by: Christina Milian

Christina Milian, who infamously passed up the chance to record the track, certainly could have used the smash single -- her last mainstream hit was "Dip It Low" in 2004, and she hasn't released an album since 2006, the same year that "S.O.S." reigned on the radio.

"We Found Love"
Snatched by: Rihanna

We Found Love, thanks to its irresistible beat, super catchy lyrics and a brilliant video, gave Rihanna a million-seller and a massive Number 1. But it could all have been so different…

Turned down by: Nicole Scherzinger

The former Pussycat Doll said that she had the chance to record "We Found Love." "I passed on 'We Found Love,'" she said. "I've got the demo of that song and I was busy at the time." It was the hit that got away for this has-been.

"Umbrella"
Snatched by: Rihanna

Umbrella earned Rihanna both a Grammy and a number one hit. It's impossible to think how a lack of "Umbrella" would have changed Rihanna's career.

Turned down by: Britney Spears

Back in 2007, a full-fledged Britney Spears comeback was far from assured, after a series of personal meltdowns prevented the pop superstar from once again reaching greatness. Legend has it that "Umbrella" writer/co-producer The-Dream offered the song to Brit as a way to engineer a return to the throne, but that her management nixed the track, which eventually went to Rihanna and became a No. 1 record. Spears was finished recording her album, so label execs turned down "Umbrella," sending it over to Mary J. Blige. Blige turned it away & it ended up in Rih's hands.

"Telephone"
Snatched by: Lady Gaga / Beyonce

After being rejected, Gaga, who penned this track, saved it for a later inclusion on her "Fame Monster" release.

Turned down by: Britney Spears

Gaga originally wrote "Telephone" to be included on Spears' 2010 "Circus" album, but the pop star rejected it. To be fair, this is one of the few songs on this list that probably would have been just as good if it was recorded by the artist it was intended for.

"Toxic"
Snatched by: Britney Spears

Britney's 2004 smash won the pop star her first Grammy and has sold 1.9 million downloads since its release

Turned down by: Kylie Minogue

Britney's 2004 hit was meant to serve as a follow-up to Kylie's banger "Can't Get You Out of My Head" but the pop star rejected it. "I listened to a snippet of it in the record company offices and decided against it," she said. "It's like the fish that got away. You just have to accept it."

"Happy"
Snatched by: Pharell

"Happy" gave Pharrell his third million seller in just 12 months and was the first track in 57 years to hit Number 1 three times over.

Turned down by: CeeLo Green

All these chart records could very well have belonged to someone else, as when Pharrell penned the tune, he had Gnarls Barkley singer CeeLo Green in mind. Green recorded the track, but decided to concentrate on his own album rather than release Happy. When Pharrell co-wrote the score to Despicable Me 2, the film company insisted that Pharrell himself record the tune, and the rest is record-breaking chart history.

"How Will I Know"
Snatched by: Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston's No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 stands as one of the artist's most iconic tracks -- but it could have sounded a lot different with another artist at the helm.

Turned down by: Janet Jackson

The songwriters of this song reportedly approached Janet's management team with a demo, but a swift decline forced them to look elsewhere. Thanks in large part to Clive Davis, Houston was given the track and turned it into a behemoth.

"Don't Cha"
Snatched by: Pussycat Dolls

This was the hit lead single from PCD's sophomore album, but the song was almost on another mega popstar's album..

Turned down by: Paris Hilton

Hilton's 2006 debut LP "Paris" never scored a hit on the level of "Don't Cha," and could have used the track as an introduction to her short-lived sonic style. Now, I can't unhear Paris whispering this song in her baby voice.

"Miss Independent"
Snatched by: Kelly Clarkson

Miss Independent was Kelly’s breakthrough hit in the UK back in 2003, but the tune was originally earmarked for another pop star, under the title Miss Independence.

Turned down by: Christina Aguilera

The lead single from Kelly Clarkson’s debut album was initially intended for Christina’s fourth album, Stripped, but was later given to Kelly. Even though Miss Independent sounds tailor-made for Xtina's Stripped, the power-lunged diva passed on the track, so it was Kelly’s in the end!

"Irreplaceable"
Snatched by: Beyonce

Beyonce's "to the left" R&B hit was written by Ne-Yo and Norwegian producing duo Stargate, but it wasn't written with the queen of theft in mind.

Turned down by: Shania Twain

Ne-Yo revealed in interviews that he had Faith Hill and Shania Twain in mind when he wrote "Irreplaceable" as a country song, and Hermansen still thinks the tune could easily have been a country radio hit. Once Bey heard it, however, she loved it and said she thought she could put her own spin on it.

Daisy Ridley opens up about her health - battling endometriosis and being diagnosed with PCOS.

daisyridley At 15 I was diagnosed with endometriosis. One laparoscopy, many consultations and 8 years down the line, pain was back (more mild this time!) and my skin was THE WORST. I've tried everything: products, antibiotics, more products, more antibiotics) and all that did was left my body in a bit of a mess. Finally found out I have polycycstic ovaries and that's why it's bad. I can safely say feeling so self conscious has left my confidence in tatters. I hate wearing make up but I currently don't want to leave the house without it on. HOWEVER PROGRESS IS BEING MADE! (With some help from a dermatologist and cutting out dairy (waah, except for spontaneous ice creams) and cutting down sugar (bigger waah but gotta do what you've gotta do)). Finally. Finally. (Throughout all this I've only had people being wonderful and encouraging and occasionally making me realise I'm being ridiculous and there's more to life)... My point is, to any of you who are suffering with anything, go to a doctor; pay for a specialist; get your hormones tested, get allergy testing; keep on top of how your body is feeling and don't worry about sounding like a hypochondriac. From your head to the tips of your toes we only have one body, let us all make sure ours our working in tip top condition, and take help if it's needed. #wasthispostlongenough #maybethesehashtagscanbulkitupabit #alsohowmanybracketsdoesonewomanneed #ifyourereadingthisiapplaudyou #thisisaclaymaskincaseyourewondering

Demi Lovato Says Her Sexuality "Doesn't Need a Label"

0
0

Days after announcing her break-up with Wilmer Valderrama (stans and Tumblr theorists are already speculating it's a PR stunt so she and Nick will fake a relationship while on tour....hmmmm), Demi Lovato opened up to People about her feels on labels and LGBT rights.

Highlights from the interview:

  • On her sexual orientation: "It's something I don't think needs to have a label: As humans, It's just about a connection with someone."
  • On she and Nick canceling the North Carolina leg of their tour in protest of the transphobic bathroom bill: "It's something I'm passionate about because I get it; I grew up in Texas. Being different in Texas or in the South in general, you can be judged."
  • "I grew up in a home where there was absolutely nothing wrong with somebody identifying as another sex or liking the same sex. People will say, 'Thank you so much for all that you do.' And my response is: It's just something that people should already be doing."

Back in 2013, Ruby Rose outed Demi as bisexual, claiming that the pair slept together, which Demi later denied. Last year, Demi released the bisexual bop "Cool for the Summer," but refused to confirm or deny anything either way.

Update on Jeremy Jordan’s campaign to save his 17yo cousin from pray-the-gay-away facility in Texas

Jeremy & Sarah at his 2012 wedding to Ashley Spencer

    * previously, we heard about how Supergirl’s Jeremy Jordan was trying to save his cousin Sarah after she was sent to Heartlight Ministries, a Christian residential boarding facility for “troubled teens,” in order to pray away the gay after she took a girl to her high school prom.

    * Jeremy confirms that she’s been released!

    * Heartlight Ministries has issued a statement denying that they practice "treatment" for sexual identity issues. Semantics, lbr.

    * To give you an idea of how full of shit these people are, they also claim that they do not push/force church attendance or religion, but in every other breath on their site talk about how their counseling program is modeled on “Biblical truth.” No religion, my ass. You can also read their blog posts about homosexuality here.

    Sources: 1, 2, 3

Let’s hope that after Heartlight booted Sarah because they couldn’t hack the sudden wave of bad publicity, her parents didn’t just ship her off to some other Christian home for ~troubled teens.

ONTD Original: 2003, A year of one hit wonders

Follow up to 2001: One hit wonders

Just 13 years ago, artists like Lumidee, t.A.T.u, and Stacie Orrico were topping the charts. Many of the artists who created their major 2003 hits were never able to replicate the success. However, their songs remain playable and always take us back in time. Let's take a look at some of the best one hit wonders of 2003!

t.A.T.u. - All The Things She Said

t.A.T.u. had a huge international hit with their 2003 debut single, “All The Things She Said,” which was no doubt driven by the alleged sexual relationship between the group’s two singers. The song reached No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite an at-the-time iconic MTV VMA performance, the duo never saw the same mainstream success again.

    Amanda Perez - Angel

Amanda delivered us this iconic JAM that slayed careers at the time. The song reached No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. After the success of the song, Amanda Perez was barely heard of again in mainstream music. Although she continued to work on music, nothing caught on like "Angel."

    Trapt - Headstrong

This was the song heard at Hot Topics worldwide. Even if you weren't into this type of music, this song was still stuck in your head. The song reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. And no1curred since.

Norah Jones - Don't Know Why

This may come as a shock to some, but Norah is technically a one hit wonder. Norah was not the original artist to record this song, although her success with “Don’t Know Why” propelled her into the public eye and helped her album (“Come Away with Me”) become a huge hit. “Don’t Know Why” went on to win three Grammy awards. Her success has left her with a cult following but her none of her single's have topped DKW's No. 30 chart peak.

    Thalia - I Want You

Thalia tried to come for J.Lo. Thalia had the voice and help from Fat Joe, with the song peaking at No. 22 on The Billboard Hot 100. Although she is a one-hit-wonder in American pop, Thalia has had a successful Latin pop career.

Lumidee - Never Leave (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh)

Middle school me was grinding for my life to this song at all the school dances. This was THAT BEAT, it was iconic and Lumidee has never seen the same success since, although she's constantly trying. This iconic bop peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Wayne Wonder - No Letting Go

Biiiiiiiiiitch yes! This song never gets old. It peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 but Wayne is still only known for this bop by most people.

    Liz Phair - Why Can't I?

"Why Can't I?" represents Liz Phair's shift from indie rock to pure pop. It peaked at no. 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the crossover could be considered a fail. The song angered fans, but this song will remain in retail stores and lobbies for life.

Fountains of Wayne - Stacey's Mom

Yeah, the entire concept behind this track is pretty bizarre, but it was catchy in 2003. The song peaked at no. 21 on Billboard but Fountains of Wayne was never cared for again.

Stacie Orrico - More To Life

I thought this girl was going to be huge and stanned a bit. This song only peaked at no. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100. She also had the iconic "Stuck" but More To Life was her only true "hit." #poordat
