Elton John: [LG5] is absolutely brilliant

Elton John says he's heard a couple of songs from Lady Gaga's upcoming album calling them "absolutely brilliant."

"I've heard 2 or 3 songs from her new record, which she's making with Mark Ronson," he said during a Beats 1 radio show. "And it's fucking absolutely brilliant, so you're gonna be really happy when you hear that later in the year or early next year."

Redone was originally set to produce Gaga's lead single but things later changed when Gaga got deeper into recording with Ronson. Redone recently spoke to French MCM about LG5 saying, "I don't know where she is musically or mentally right now. We tried to recreate the magic together in the studio and I think we have some amazing songs, but then again, she's very busy. At some point, one of [the songs] was going to be the first single, but then it changed. I don't know what happened."

But the new pop album is not the only new music Gaga is working on at the moment. Gaga is also busy recording her sophmore jazz album with Tony Bennett, which is due out as early as August.

"I love balancing jazz and pop, I basically have multiple personalities anyway so that rebellious and extreme side of me loves to go back and forth, I never get bored,"Gaga said in an exclusive Q&A with Gaga Daily. "Somedays I feel quiet, others I need to rage. Those parts of me will always be there, it's my two-toned soul. Cheek to Cheek will not be my last jazz album, and ARTPOP was not my last pop album. I have many years ahead of me to make music and I feel stronger than ever."

Hollywood loves whitewashing: wants to cast Leo as Rumi+RDJr to play Shams of Tabriz in Rumi biopic

David Franzoni, who wrote the script for Gladiator, has agreed to work on a biopic about the 13th-century poet Jalaluddin al-Rumi.

Rumi was an Iranian Sufi religious scholar (born in modern day afghanistan) who is widely regarded as the greatest poet in history. The film plans to portray his life, highlighting his relationship with the mystic Shams of Tabriz that influenced much of his life and work. After Shams’s mysterious disappearance, a devastated Rumi wrote much of the love poetry that he is famed for. Also featured will be his fleeing from the Mongol invasion of Iran, leading him to eventually settle in Turkey where he died.

Franzoni and the films producer Stephen Joel Brown, said they would like Leonardo DiCaprio to play Rumi, and Robert Downey Jr to star as Shams of Tabriz, though they said it was too early to begin casting. “This is the level of casting that we’re talking about,” Brown said, while Franzoni added that the film 'will challenge Muslim stereotypes.' By casting white people as famed Islamic scholars, I suppose.

Zach Gilford and his former Friday Night Lights castmates, Taylor Kitsch, Aimee Teegarden and Minka Kelly are reuniting this weekend in Chicago to run a Spartan Race. Zach Gilford spoke with Runner's World about their reunion sharing that, "I think once Aimee and Minka realized what this was, they were like, 'Wait, what did we get ourselves into?'"

Gilford has been working with a trainer to prepare for the race, “I think Taylor is the most naturally equipped for this, but I have been working my ass off,” he said. “Although I can’t imagine the gun will go off and any one of us will be like, ‘See you later.’ I think we will do this as a group.”

The foursome originally agreed to do the five-mile course but Kitsch suggested they do the longer course, “Nobody balked; we were all like, ‘Yeah, let’s push ourselves,’” Gilford said.

The remainder of the Friday Night Lights cast, including Jesse Plemons, Adrianne Palicki, Gauis Charles, Connie Britton, Scott Porter, and more will be reuniting the day before in Austin during the ATX Festival.

- pap asks how gigi is holding up after the break up, mohamed says he didn't even know there was a break up
- he just had breakfast with gigi that morning (friday) and she didn't mention anything
- he's never met zayn, but he hears he's a very, very nice guy (lol)
- pap asks if he thinks its just a summer thing (fling?) and mohamed says "probably" but then quickly says "no, no, no"
- he "probably" thinks they're still together

meanwhile, e! news says the break-up is still on -- that's their story and they're sticking to it!

mohamed hasn't met zayn nearly seven months into this very public and serious-seeming relationship, huh? why is gigi still wearing that necklace and talking about her "boyfriend" in interviews? what does yolanda think about all of this? AND WHERE IS ZAYN? next time on...

what are your theories, ontd? i'm personally leaning towards the "zayn is ghosting gigi" theory myself. at least this break-up/non-break-up is a bit juicy, right?

sorry mods, fixed it.

Ozzy's ex manager says split from Sharon is a publicity stunt and rocker would never cheat

-Steven Machat, who managed Ozzy in the 1980s, says their divorce is an attempt by Sharon to stir up publicity for Black Sabbath's tour, which started this month
-Machat claims Ozzy "isn't all there" and that he couldn't or wouldn't cheat on Sharon. He says Sharon knows how to use the media to make Ozzy relevant and says Sharon is Ozzy's nurse, mother & manager
-Rumor is that the split is a publicity stunt inspired by Lemonade after Sharon discussed their divorce on her talk show (The Talk) holding a glass of lemonade; Kelly also posted a photo of herself holding a lemon on Instagram
-Ozzy & Sharon are allegedly estranged but arrived in the same car at the Hollywood Palladium for an Ozzfest-related press conference
-Kelly recently suggested the "affair" was elder abuse

Hollywood loves whitewashing pt.2983: White guy cast as Ganke Lee in new Spider man

Ganke Lee, the best friend of Miles Morales (spider man) is Korean-American in the comics. Marvel decided to cast 14-year-old white actor Michael Barbieri (who im sure is a perfectly nice kid but is about as Asian as Emma Stone) for the role in the new 'Spider-Man film'.

This isn't the first time Marvel has got into hot water with white washing Asian roles; Tilda Swinton was cast as The Ancient One, a character who is a tibetan monk the comics, in the 'Dr. Strange' film. And Amadeus Cho, a Korean-American boy genius from Marvel’s ongoing comic series Totally Awesome Hulk, was played by Martin Starr in 2008’s 'The Incredible Hulk' film.

New UFC champ Michael Bisping, of no fame, sent shock waves through the tens of people watching him grind his sweaty body against Luke Rockhold's over the weekend at UFC 199. Bisping reportedly knocked Rockhold out in the first-round, and then called him "a f*ggot" in a post-fight news conference. In the footage, Bisping is heard saying “Oh, I shouldn’t have said that" as he walks away from the cameras.

Back in 2011, Bisping was also in hot water when he referred to another opponent as a “f*ggot m-fer” in a promotional video.

ethan hawke discusses his new graphic novel, white guilt, and 'the magnificent seven' remake

0

+ He recently published Indeh: A Story of the Apache Wars in collaboration with acclaimed artist Greg Ruth to tell the story of the bloody Apache Wars primarily through two figures, the famed Geronimo, and Naiche, son of the Apache leader Cochise.

+ On avoiding the many stereotypes with Native Americans in pop culture."That's part of the obstacle of why the stories don’t get told. A: The cliches. And B: The white guilt. It's a dangerous line to walk. You don't want to be appropriating culture that isn't yours, and at the same time you want to be able to celebrate a love of history and a love of our country. These stories are part of the fabric on which this country is built. I think so many people even who live in these areas where these things happened don't know what happened there. I kind of felt like it was a weird line to walk between feeling like the story needs to be told and wanting to avoid all the obvious places to fall. And one of the keys to that is actually the subject matter itself. Which is Geronimo. He's a very complicated person. He had a lot of his own demons. You avoid the cliche of the Hallmark card of the Indian crying on the hill. Geronimo went down swinging every step. He killed a lot of people. He was a lot of different things. He could be a great man; he could be a terrible man."
+ On what drew him to the upcoming remake of The Magnificent Seven."I do love westerns. I went to the premier for The Equalizer to show and support Denzel and Antoine Fuqua, who I'd done Training Day with, and they told me they were remaking The Magnificent Seven. While I was immediately nervous that it would be a really difficult movie to remake, if they were gonna do it, I definitely wanted to be involved. I didn’t want it done without me. I just asked to be involved. I can happily report that I am one of a handful of people who have seen the first cut of the movie, and I couldn’t be happier. If you love Seven Samurai and [original] The Magnificent Seven, you will love this movie. It’s not a straight-up remake of the original western or a straight-up remake of The Seven Samurai — it has Antoine's vision stamped all over it.

It's so wonderful to see Denzel taking over John Wayne's America. It's so fun. When you start thinking about instead of having James Coburn as a knife-thrower, why shouldn't it be one of the great Korean actors of the modern time? Antoine's idea is that we’re a bunch of badass ragamuffins from all over the universe. We have this great Native American character. We have this wonderful Korean actor, Latin actor, crazy Italian Vincent D'Onfrio. You have me playing a former rebel soldier. You have Denzel as an African-American from the North. You have Chris Pratt representing white America [laughs]."
