The Flash: ZOOM REVEALED! Exec Producer Andrew Kreisberg Discusses
Whether you personally believe in E3/4/5 Dopplegangers, Clones, Twins, Multiple Personality Disorder, Double Crosses, Super Spies, Global Warming, The Earth Being Flat, or World Peace... Exec Producer Andrew Kreisberg has dropped a bunch of interviews about it in multiple Banned Sources.
So here are a few snippets from Approved Sources for you to mull over! (Includes a tiny bit about The Man In The Iron Mask - hint, it probably isn't Leonardo DiCaprio).
-So Jay is Zoom, Jay's dead body (killed by Jay) is being carried by Jay, and Jay's corpse is then brought back to E2 and dumped on the floor, much to the shock and horror of Man In The Iron Mask (who lbr, is also Jay).
Suspicions have been raised all season about Jay Garrick, with him behaving sketchily, disappearing for episodes at a time, never being around when he'd come in useful, and avoiding interaction with Harrison Wells (who knew Jay on E2) as much as possible.
This led to fans complaining that their Golden Age hero Jay Garrick was a Cowardly Lion Man, too scared of his own shadow to show up and even do clerical work or fetch some Big Belly Burger takeout for Team Flash. Also, where even does he live?! How does he pay rent? Where does he go for so many episodes? Why is he such a flop?
(Not OP commentary, but a true & accurate summary of ONTD Comments from October 2015 to February 2016 regarding the individual known on Earth-2 as 'Jason Peter "Jay" Garrick', known alias - The Flash.)
Jay also showed Caitlin his E1 doppleganger, Hunter Zolomon, a supposedly everyday citizen who'd been adopted and given a fancy name and a nice suit. Zoom is also the alter ego of Hunter Zolomon in the DC Comic canon, but it seemed too obvious and direct a hint for fans at the time.
Last week, (Unproblematic) Harrison Wells Superfan (Very Problematic) Zoom shoved his hand through (Possible) Jay Garrick's chest and dragged him back through the final breach, before it closed
Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg has told Variety that the parallel with Eobard Thawne body snatching Harrison Wells to gain Barry's trust last season was entirely by design!
For the Flash writing team, all of this could only go down because of what happened last season, "for Barry and the others, as much as they were stung by Wells/Thawne’s betrayal, he had been their mentor and friend and they all felt that vacuum when he was gone."
Jay had been watching them all, and he knew how to "masterfully step into the role each of them needed [...]"He skillfully played them all."
Kreisberg believes also that overwhelming fan love of iconique Jay Garrick helped them to ~conceal~ the Zoom master plan. He believes that a 'fair amount' of the audience would be familiar with Jay's canon history, and would "take the character and anything he said at face value because of his past history [...] Who would suspect the big bad was the classic hero from the comics?"
-In an article from ComingSoon, who paraphrased from EW, and who have themselves now been paraphrased by your loving, good & noble OP, Kreisberg continued to open up about ZoomJay, dropping some really confusing stuff involving using multiple names.
(Please recall how Kreisberg also continuously misnamed Eobard Thawne as 'Harrison Wells' in interviews after last season's 'reveal', and still pretty much does, so this may or may not mean something major and telling, it's unclear.)
"Zoom’s identity has been revealed: He is Hunter Zolomon, a.k.a Jay Garrick. How all of that plays out and what’s actually happening, we’ll leave for after the break." [March 22nd, The Flash returns.]
-Kreisberg continues: "It’s an even larger betrayal than last year in some ways, because they’re all going to feel like they should’ve been inoculated against it. ‘Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.’ [...] He was able to step in because they wanted it so desperately. Barry was missing his mentor, Wells, and here comes Jay offering to be his mentor. Caitlin had lost Ronnie, and then here comes Jay offering to be her new knight in shining armor."
-Kreisberg went on to mention the absolute "delicious irony" of poor sweet unproblematic Harry Wells, the one nobody trusted, being the one who was legit trustworthy and all along saying "DO NOT TRUST JAY GARRICK!!!" But of course everyone ignored him out of idiocy and prejudice (and probably jealousy over his gravity-defying floof).
Jay "was able to manipulate them was because he was playing on their emotions [...] all of them had that need for a centre and for a new star to right their ships by. Jay’s one charming, smooth guy and he was able to manipulate them in that way".
-Kreisberg also teased about The Man In The Iron Mask, claiming his identity is "in some ways, probably an even bigger surprised than this one, if you can imagine it."
-Barry is definitely going back for him, but we all already knew that.

Marina and the Diamonds Calls Out BRIT Awards for Lack of Diversity and Being All About $$$
Reading about artists talking about BRIT Awards + lack of diversity. I just looked at the nominees and it’s kind of sickening…
— Marina Diamandis (@MarinasDiamonds) February 24, 2016
The truth is the BRIT Awards is a CORPORATE award ceremony. Representing diversity is not a priority. Money is the priority.
— Marina Diamandis (@MarinasDiamonds) February 24, 2016
This doesn't always mean the artists getting the awards aren't deserving of them. We just need to realise what this award ceremony is for.
— Marina Diamandis (@MarinasDiamonds) February 24, 2016
To sell records. Particularly in what would normally be considered a lull-period for the music industry. (FEBRUARY)

So, I don’t if it’s just plain racism or if it’s down to (e.g.) grime artists not being as financially exploitable to them on a global scale
— Marina Diamandis (@MarinasDiamonds) February 24, 2016
I think what we need is an award ceremony somewhere in between the commerciality of the BRITS and the left-field Mercury's.
— Marina Diamandis (@MarinasDiamonds) February 24, 2016
@arianasmybabyy no! I realised it a long time ago. I saw people talk about it today though + I found the lack of diversity really alarming.
— Marina Diamandis (@MarinasDiamonds) February 24, 2016
Marina is a one-time BRIT nominee and lost the Critic's Choice Award to Ellie Goulding in 2010.
