Samuel L. Jackson up for role in Stephen King's revival

Warner Bros' option for Stephen King's 'The Stand' has expired and the project is now back with CBS films. Josh Boone, who was set to direct, is now adapting Stephen King's new novel 'Revival' instead. Samuel L. Jackson is in talks for one of the lead roles of a preacher who loses his faith and begins experimenting with electricity. This will be Sam's third Stephen King movie after 1408 and the yet-to-be-released Cell.

The summary reads as follows:

In a small New England town, over half a century ago, a shadow falls over a small boy playing with his toy soldiers. Jamie Morton looks up to see a striking man, the new minister. Charles Jacobs, along with his beautiful wife, will transform the local church. The men and boys are all a bit in love with Mrs. Jacobs; the women and girls feel the same about Reverend Jacobs—including Jamie’s mother and beloved sister, Claire. With Jamie, the Reverend shares a deeper bond based on a secret obsession. When tragedy strikes the Jacobs family, this charismatic preacher curses God, mocks all religious belief, and is banished from the shocked town.

Jamie has demons of his own. Wed to his guitar from the age of thirteen, he plays in bands across the country, living the nomadic lifestyle of bar-band rock and roll while fleeing from his family’s horrific loss. In his mid-thirties—addicted to heroin, stranded, desperate—Jamie meets Charles Jacobs again, with profound consequences for both men. Their bond becomes a pact beyond even the Devil’s devising, and Jamie discovers that revival has many meanings.

Producer Ross Putram has started an amazing new Twitter account dedicated to all the sexist and ridiculous ways female characters are introduced in movie scripts. While he's changed every character's name to "Jane," these are, unsurprisingly, from very real scripts that have somehow actually managed to land on a producer's desk. And they all reaffirm that female characters are apparently just there to look good, not to, you know, be characters!!!

Max Martin to receive 2016 Polar Music Prize

44 year-old Max Martin (actually Martin Sandberg) from Stockholm, Sweden is considered the most successful songwriter of the last 20 years. He has 21 number ones on the Billboard Hot 100, only Paul McCartney and John Lennon surpass him with 32 and 26 writing credits respectively.

Opera singer Cecilia Bartoli, one of the world's best-selling classical music artists, will also receive her honor from King Carl XVI along with Max Martin on 16 June in Stockholm, Sweden.
Previous Laureates include Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Paul McCartney, Emmylou Harris, Elton John, Ray Charles, Miriam Makeba and Björk.

Anna Kendrick plays a hyperactive obsessive named Martha, who goes off the rails after she witnesses her boyfriend cheating. As shown in the exclusive trailer for Mr. Right (above), Martha links up with Francis (Sam Rockwell) post-breakup and is heartened to learn he’s equally weird — or so it would seem. While character quirks are one thing, murder is another, as Martha discovers her “sexy Rain Man” is actually a professional hit man.

But Francis isn’t your run-of-the-mill assassin. As explained by the FBI agent (Tim Roth) tracking Francis, the killer has a warped moral code whereby he takes out the people ordering the hits. As the bodies keep piling up, Martha has to navigate her budding feelings for Francis as well as the federal manhunt for him.

Star Wars Episode VIII Started Filming

Speaking to the investors during the quarterly earnings call on Wednesday, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the next installment of Star Wars Saga, Episode VIII, has started filming.

He said the company has a simple strategy for the future of Star Wars: "There is no better way to propel this franchise into the future than producing quality products." He also revealed that the production of Episode IX has also begun.

Iger also offered an early review of the next Star Wars film - Rogue One.

“Filming of Rogue One is virtually completed and we absolutely love what we’ve seen so far,” he said, of the heist story about Rebel plans to steal the blueprints for the original Death Star.

Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and will be released on December 16, 2016. Director of Brick and Looper, Rian Johnson is directing Star Wars: Episode VIII whose release date was pushed to December 15, 2017. Han Solo film will have a May 2018 release. The last film in the sequel trilogy will be directed by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World and Safety Not Guaranteed). Release date is yet to be announced, though we can expect a December date.

In the 1990s, there was J-pop girl group SPEED. With their youngest being 12 at the time of their debut, these four girls surprised audiences with their decidedly mature image and sold over 20 million albums within 3 years, making them one of Asia's biggest girl groups at one point. Their original run lasted from 1996-2000, and while they have reunited since, they are not at the levels of their former glory. One of the members, Eriko Imai (32), has recently announced her intentions to run for Japanese parliament under the Liberal Democratic Party. Her key issues are disability advocacy due to her experience as mother of a deaf son and American military presence in Okinawa as she, like her other former band members, is from Okinawa. The Liberal Democratic Party hopes that she will invigorate young voters as well.


2. Clay Aiken



Placing 2nd on the 2nd season of American Idol, Clay Aiken (37) is mostly known music-wise for his single "Invisible" and singing some Christmas songs. His fans are known as Claymates, and he shakes their ovaries or something. In 2014, he ran for Congress in North Carolina's 2nd congressional district wanting to "fix Washington" and won the Democratic primary a day after his main opponent fell down in his home and died. He ultimately lost in the general election however, so I guess God really does work in mysterious ways y'all.

3. Peter Garrett



Midnight Oil was an Australian band that lasted 1976-2002 that won 11 Australian Recording Industry Association awards and was indicted in the ARIA Hall of Fame. Its former lead singer Peter Garrett has had a relatively prolific political career compared to those above, serving in the Member of the Australian Parliament for Kingsford Smith (2004-2013), the Minister for Environment Protection, Heritage and the Arts (2007-2010), and Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth (2010-2013). His main political stances include flip-flopping on the environment and trying to get parents of indigenous children have their welfare payments suspended if their children are found to not be attending school.

4. Sonny Bono



Sonny Bono (1935-1998) is probably best well known as the late ex-husband and musical partner of Cher. He also served as mayor of Palm Springs, California 1988-1992 and a Republican member of Congress representing California's 44th district from 1995 until his death. He apparently decided to go into politics after he got frustrated trying to open a restaurant in Palm Springs and having problems with the local government in getting it going. As mayor, he supported the creation of the Palm Springs International Film Festival. As congressman, he tried and failed to extend copyright during his time in office, but a similar bill passed later that is sometimes known as the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act in his honor, one that did massively extend the life of copyright arrangements.

Considering Teresa Giudice's recent endorsement of Trump, I thought I'd look into which candidates the housewives are supporting. I used opensecrets.org and only included recent campaign contributions.

  • Teresa Giudice may have endorsed Trump, but there's no record of her or Joe making any financial contributions to him or anyone else. Also, as a felon, she cannot vote!


    • Dorinda Medley is a long time supporter of Hillary since 2006. Her most recent contribution is $2700 to Hillary's presidential campaign.


    • I don't have any contributions from Yolanda Foster, but her ex David gave $2700 to Hillary and, interestingly, $2600 to Clay Aiken's 2014 failed congressional campaign.


    • Erika Girardi has made over a hundred contributions to various democratic campaigns and PACs, but her most recent contribution is a shocker: $2700 to Jeb Bush last July. Just the month before she had donated $5000 to Senator Leahy's PAC to reelect 7 democratic senators (including Chuck Schumer) and in March she donated another $5000 to Barbara Boxer's super PAC to elect 100+ democratic senators. Not sure what prompted her change because her husband has also made a number of contributions to democratic campaigns, though I don't see a recent contribution from him. Jeb? Really? Him?


    Basically, not many of the housewives have a record of making political contributions and the few that have haven't made too many in the past couple of years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
