Matt Bellamy has blasted the ''structures'' keeping people ''in place'' within society.
Muse think young people are ''born into bondage''
The conspiracy theory-loving rockers feel younger generations are oppressed by subtle means, and hope their music finds its way to an audience who willing to question society's norms.
Frontman Matt Bellamy said: ''The structures keeping people in place these days are days are far more covert and coercive: Advertising, the media, the way corporations and governments function and so on.
''A lot of young people are born into bondage and don't necessarily know it. I'd like to think our songs have some influence on people who feel they don't want to fall in with everything.''
The 'Uprising' rocker feels his group are keeping up a ''tradition'' among bands of making young people think and question what's around them.
He added to Classic Rock magazine: ''I do feel we are keeping up that tradition, that it's the job of bands, musicians, artists in general to at least shed light on things people might not be aware of.
''I wouldn't pretend we're the starting point, but in combination with other artists out there, I think we collectively influence other people to come up with new ways of thinking. And they're the ones who will form policies in the future.''

ia with him about all of his political views tbh even though idk what's the context of this. I mean, Matt constantly rambles about conspiracies and all but would be great if the articles had given a bit of context

Yeah Yeah Yeahs debuted a clutch of new songs last night (January 11) at a show at the Glass House in Pomona, California.
Arriving onstage in a glittery headband and zebra print cape over a red fringed jacket, frontwoman Karen O opened up the set with a brand new track which included the lyrics "it's good to sing/it's good to cry".
The band followed it with 'Phenomena' and then another new song, while the 14-track set also included one more slower-paced new number. All of the new songs are thought to be taken from the band's upcoming fourth LP, which is slated for release this spring and follows their 2009 album 'It's Blitz!'.

The band's set for the one-off gig also included 'Heads Will Roll', 'Soft Shock', 'Gold Lion' and 'Zero'. Karen O - sporting a blonde bobbed hairstyle - kicked glitter bombs of Y-shaped confetti into the rowdy crowd throughout the performance, and handed her microphone to fans in the front rows so they could sing-along to 'Cheated Hearts'.
"Thank you Pomona, we're the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. You know that. We love you," said Karen O before leaving the stage. Yeah Yeah Yeahs then returned to play a two song encore, made up of 'Maps' and 'Tick', with Karen O dedicating the former to the evening's support band, Los Angeles punk duo The Bots. "This is a Yeah Yeah Yeahs love song," she said before the track. "We'd like to dedicate this song to The Bots, who opened up and are cool as shit! Yeah Yeah Yeahs love The Bots!"

Amid split rumours Rob enjoys night out

Robert Pattinson hit the Golden Globes last night, where he presented the award for Adapted Screenplay alongside Amanda Seyfried and was reportedly enjoying himself at the star studded event, despite leaving girlfriend Kristen Stewart at home.
The 'Twilight' stud reportedly volunteered to come to the event, despite his claims to be uncomfortable in the spotlight and was clearly up for a big night as he was overheard chatting to fellow Brit star Eddie Redmayne.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the 'Les Miserables' star came over to the actor and said: "We're at the same table,"
To which an excited Rob replied: "Let's go find the bar, now."
The 26 year-old looked pretty foxy on the red carpet as he posed in a blacksuit with skinny tie and despite having finished with the vampire saga that made him an international heartthrob, was only asked about the 'Twilight' movies on the red carpet.

What we want to know is why Kristen didn't come along too?
The actress was in Los Angeles and was spotted at a Starbucks over the weekend by excited fans. The most recent claims suggest things aren't going right between the famous couple and that they're on the verge of a split, according to Life & Style magazine.
But the friendly hug between Rob and Kristen's father John Stewart at the Globes, who greeted each other affectionately according to HollywoodLife (lol), would appear to dispel these rumours.

One of the most anticipated births in recent history is expected in July, when the third in line to the British throne is due to arrive, St. James's Palace said this morning.

''Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July," the palace said in a statement. "The Duchess's condition continues to improve since her stay in hospital last month.''

Reading between the lines, the palace statement implies that the royal couple will have one child, dispelling speculation that the duchess is carrying twins.

Doing the math, if the new prince or princess arrives early, he or she could share a birthday with William's mother, Princess Diana, who was born July 1. But the due date looks likely to be mid-July.

Kate Middleton, 31, who is 13 to 14 weeks pregnant, is continuing to do better after spending four nights at a hospital last month because of severe morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum.

The duchess has since cut her public engagements, keeping a low profile as she recovers. Her most recent appearance was for the unveiling of her official portrait Friday with royal watchers spotting a tiny baby bump.

Prince Charles recently delighted at the prospect of being a grandpa, saying, it's ''a very nice thought of grandfatherhood at my old age, if I may say so. So that's splendid. And I'm very glad my daughter-in-law is getting better, thank goodness.''

A royal spokesman says both will be out of the picture for the foreseeable future with William, 30, carrying on with his day job as a search-and-rescue pilot and Kate putting her feet up and out of the spotlight.

After Wedding Crashers, The Hangover and an Oscar-nomination, it’s easy to forget that Bradley Cooper first broke onto the scene through the spy genre. He played Will Tippin, friend of Sydney Bristow on J.J. Abrams’ Alias, and Cooper could soon get back to those roots.

Warner Bros. has purchased the rights to the new book Dark Invasion by Howard Blum, to be developed for as a star vehicle for Cooper. The book centers on a New York Police Captain tasked with stopping German Secret Service agents who came to the United States in 1915 to covertly stop us from joining the War. Read more below.

Dark Invasion the book has yet to be released; it won’t hit shelves and Amazon until September 11, 2013. Here’s how Deadline, who broke the story, described the book:

The book is a true spy thriller set in 1915 when Germany, with war raging in Europe and the U.S. still neutral, decides to send their Secret Service to America to wage a covert war to keep this country from helping the Allies. The Kaiser’s spies bomb factories, sabotage ships, shoot JP Morgan Jr (a financier of the Allies), bomb the U.S. Capitol Building, and set up an anthrax lab six miles from the White House. Cooper is attached to play NYPD Capt Tom Tunney, who’s tasked with establishing the team that will bring these German spies to justice. CIA considers Tunney to be its first head of homeland security, according to the book.

A blend of period crime with international espionage and historical significance. Sounds very promising. Next up will be hiring a screenwriter to adapt the book and go from there. And there’s no rush. Cooper’s star will only rise in the coming year with The Hangover Part III on the way, followed by the new David O. Russell film.

  • 01/15/13--14:04: Blind Items!
  • 1.)  This A+ list mostly movies now Academy Award winner/nominee actor has always been known for his sense of humor and willingness to do anything if it sounds fun. At least he has always claimed it. This Academy Award winner/nominee B- list actress decided to put him to the test. While making a movie together she challenged him on the very first day with a list of 20 things and bet him $25K as to who could finish the list first.

The catch was that each item on the list had to be witnessed by someone who needed to sign off. there were childish things like stealing everything from the craft service table and taking it to your trailer, but there were also things like stand naked outside your trailer for 30 seconds in the daylight. Apparently they both did that and had some people watching too who were the witnesses. Another of the items was to have phone sex while on the set, loud enough for people to actually stare. They both did that too. Surprisingly, one of the items that was hardest for him to accomplish was finding five people to make out with. Apparently despite the best efforts of the very good looking actor, it took him almost the entire shoot to find five women willing to make out with him. The actress had no such problems and found five takers in a matter of minutes and had them lined up and signing off on her list. The one thing our actress did not do was have sex with the actor who tried and tried. She did end up having sex with another of her co-stars but she said it was purely a stress reliever and told him not to bother calling her, or thinking it was going to happen again.

2.)  This foreign born B list all movie actress and Academy Award nominee/winner almost died last year over her refusal to eat food. She gives a million reasons why it happened, but the truth is she was only eating once or twice a week and not much when she did finally break down and eat. She says she is much better now, but she has such body and image issues that no one believes her. Her last boyfriend broke up with her because she was constantly passing out from starvation and would not listen to him.

3.)  This couple should file for divorce but no one really knows why they have not. He cheats. She cheats, although a little more discreetly because of who she is cheating with. They play this public game of happy marriage and family and try and sell it like they are running for political office or something. They are just a celebrity couple. B list for sure with almost A list name recognition. They don't share the same bedroom and rarely share the same house. They alternate custody  of the kid(s). She started seeing a very powerful studio head who appreciates the way she performs certain activities in the bedroom. The husband cheats every chance he gets and loves being gone out of town because they both are trying so hard to not get caught and to have the world believe they are still together. They are not really trying to sell something that needs them to be together. It could be for the kid(s). Maybe. It is not like they have a book about fidelity or relationship advice about to hit the shelves. They could be holding out for a reality show. They both have experience with that.

4.)  This A+ list all movie actor has been freaked out for a year that a one time fling will land him in jail. When his girlfriend found out about it, she dumped him. It seems our actor did his usual hit on everyone that comes in front of him on a recent movie and ended up having sex with a co-star in the movie. It was not until a day or two later when he saw her getting tutored on set that he realized that she had a few years to go before she turned 18. Meanwhile, the actress, who is a C lister told the actor she was perfectly willing to continue where they left off.

5.)  This B- list television and movie actress is basically cut off from her friends at least as far as texting goes. Her very controlling A list movie actor significant other says that the only time she can text is outside the home. So, inside it is e-mail or phone calls, although those are limited too.

Edited to fix spacing issues, sorry!

Audra McDonald will guest-star on an upcoming season 4 episode of CBS' The Good Wife.

McDonald will play Alicia's (Julianna Margulies) "nemesis" from their days at Georgetown law school, with the two rivals going toe to toe in the courtroom.

THR says that while McDonald has only booked one episode thus far, there's the possibility that she might return for other episodes.

She joins a short list of other black actresses who've been featured in the hit CBS series: Anika Noni Rose and Nicole Beharie.

In addition to The Good Wife, as already announced, Ms McDonald will return as Dr. Naomi Bennett in the series finale of Private Practice next week.

The Good Wife airs 9 pm, Sundays on CBS.

Really excited about this...please god, let her kick Alicia's arse in court!! But, more importantly, lets discuss this week's episode - racist chickens come home to roost! Lisbeth is batshit! usually I hate "quirky" characters, but the actress does it so well.

cary count for this episode = 0

She never explicitly references her recent feud with Azealia Banks, but she says: "I really do apologize for all of the stuff that has happened recently... I don't like the fact that I was a bully in a certain way." She also thanks her fans profusely. Make of it what you will!

AMC just can't quit The Killing. Despite canceling the crime drama after a not-great second season that itself followed a Season 1 finale that nearly started World War III, the show has somehow found its way back onto AMC's schedule. Season 3 will consist of 12 episodes, and production on the show starts in late February, putting it on track for a summer or fall release.

The new round brings back all the key components: Stars Mireille Enos (Sarah Linden) and Joel Kinnaman (Stephen Holder) will return, and the heavily criticized Veena Sud reclaims her role as executive producer and showrunner. But Sud has learned from her critics, and Season 3 will feature an all-new case that AMC promises will be wrapped up (or "resolved," in the network's words) by the time the finale ends, according to its press release. The setup will find Stephen working on a murder that ties into an old case Sarah worked, bringing her back into the fold.

As for the Netflix involvement that started the series' resurrection in the first place, negotiations are still ongoing. But any chance of Netflix getting first-run rights is gone.

I'm so over The Killing. How about you?

I will watch because despite the murder and and 2 season resolve I enjoyed the storytelling and Linden & Holder's relationship. Unfortunately I think this is a case of trying to put Humpty Dumpty back together when he's pretty much a Denny's special at this point.

She's baaaack! Amanda Bynes emerged from relative obscurity again on Monday, Jan. 14, to share her new look with fans.

In a few images posted to her Tumblr, the former child star showed off a new cheek piercing on her left cheek, grinning for the camera from behind a set of sunglasses.

The actress also flaunted bleach-blond hair and a bright blue collared shirt in the snap.

Bynes, 26, has been keeping a low profile since her move to New York last fall following a string of very odd behaviors that landed her in the headlines.

While initial controversy over the gun bra donned by the popstar in Vancouver was brewing, Lady GaGa performed the first night of the United States section of her tour in a COMPLETELY GUN-FREE show in Tacoma, Washington on 1/14/13

For the last 8 months, she had performed her show with some gun imagery, though not as explicitly as to portray any major acts of violence. The updated show replaces guns in one part of the show with pipes, as well as another section removing guns altogether from the stage and her OUTFITS.

Lady Gaga made sure that the first U.S. date of her "Born This Way Ball" was a special one, as she unveiled her Born Brave Bus before Monday night's (January 14) show in Tacoma, Washington.

Gaga (and her mother, Cynthia!!!) personally attended a pre-concert tailgate to christen the bus, which was covered in artwork by her Little Monsters, and is part of her Born This Way Foundation's larger campaign to build a sense of community and promote self-acceptance among her fans, including providing them with access to mental health services, school psychologists, volunteer opportunities and bullying and suicide prevention resources.

"For those wondering about the 'counseling' at the BTWBall BornBrave pre-show, it will be a fun tailgaiting experience for Monsters to unite," Gaga wrote on Twitter when she first announced plans for the bus late last year. "At the BornBrave Bus, you have access to professional private or group chats about mental health, bullying, school and friends."

Gaga's pals Lady Starlight and DJ White Shadow provided music for the kick-off, and the Born Brave Bus will be open to the general public on the day of each "Born This Way Ball" concert from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. local time. Fans can also pre-register for the Born Brave Bus experience through the Born This Way Foundation's official site.

The Foundation has partnered with community organizations like Campus Pride, GLSEN, the National Association of School Psychologists and Youth Service America. Viacom is serving as the Foundation's lead media partner as part of the campaign.

It was rly cool to see her and her precious mom walking around, getting all excited about the buses and everyone. &nbsp

This week's episode of "The Biggest Loser" has a theme: cutting the junk. The blue team, who comes in last in a childhood obesity trivia bowl is forced to spend 4 1/2 hours per day -- the amount of time the average American child spends watching TV -- trapped in a room full of junk food and video games.

Trainer Bob Harper is thrilled to find his team didn't give in to the junk, but is disappointed to see they didn't come up with a way to burn calories inside the room. So for their last chance workout, Bob puts the team through a cross-training regime full of squats and burpees inside the junk room.

At the weigh-in, we find out for the first time this season, there is no red line elimination. That means the team with the lowest percentage of weight loss will be forced to vote off a member of their team.

Pam is worried when she learns the white team will be weighed last, as she feels she might be on the chopping block. Since the white team only has two contestants remaining, the person with the lowest percentage of weight loss on their team, should they lose, would be automatically eliminated.

The weigh-in is intense, as usual, but the blue team kills it -- with Michael, who started out the season at 444 pounds, finally dropping below 400 and landing at 396.

The red team has a devastating time at the scale, with three of its members losing only two pounds each. With such a disappointing turn out, the white team will only have to lose seven pounds to be safe. Jenni steps up to the scale and we find she's lost six pounds. Now it's all up to Pam. With one contestant losing zero pounds last week, it's certainly not out of the question that Pam might not make the cut. Particularly since she and trainer Jillian Michaels butted heads so hard during the workouts.

In the most GIF-worthy moment in "Biggest Loser" history, Pam learns she lost nine pounds and decides to do a little dance -- wait, a big dance. She gyrates and sings, and gyrates some more, pumping her pelvis in her sports bra and spandex, and singing, "How ya like me now," to Jillian. "I did it, I did it ... I lost nine pounds. Nine pounds, nine pounds."

Gillian tells Pam she no longer wants to hear her give excuses because she's seen now what she can do. Bam!

This means the red team is the losing team, and its members must choose someone to send home from the ranch. Joe is safe because he lost the highest percentage of weight at nine pounds. Cate and Jackson are both devastated, knowing they couldn't help their team overcome, and may be going home.

Cate can't bear to vote any of her team members off, and so she chooses with her eye closed. But alas, her teammates have no problem voting her off, as they believe she, most of all, is capable of accomplishing her goals at home.

"Being here for these three weeks has taught me that being healthy isn't a chore; its a gift," Cate says. "And I don't think that I can do this at home, I know that I can."

And boy, has she. Cate started the show at 237 pounds, and we see by visiting her at home she's dropped down to 196. She's now training for a marathon, and trainer Dolvett Quince has promised to meet her at the finish line. Teammate Lisa also makes this promise to Cate, even though hers was the deciding vote to send Cate packing.

Cate has kept up her positive spirit at home too. She's particularly proud of having eliminated "Fat Tuesdays" from her routine. She used to pick up fast food after her workout every Tuesday. "Fat Tuesdays have turned into fit tuesdays," says Cate. "So that means goodbye drive-thru, and hello protein shake and apple."

On gaining confidence: Dolvett was able to bring that confidence out of her, and she felt she was worth it. She evolved from a meek & mild individual to a strong & confident person.

On how she became overweight: She was eating out all the time during college, and gained weight shortly after she got her first job.

On “Fat Tuesday” vs. “Fit Tuesday”: Prior to coming on the Ranch, she would workout with a personal trainer on Tuesdays, but would eat hamburgers directly after those said workouts. Today, she takes apples and protein shakes to the gym on Tuesdays.

On her expectations of The Ranch: She thought there would be filming breaks, but that was a huge misconception of hers. Even when the directors took a break from filming, the contestants still exercised. They didn’t get “exercise breaks.”

On reaching “One-derland”: When she saw the scale go below 200, it was a dream come true for her.

On why the Red Team didn’t lose a ton of weight in Episode 3: She mentioned that it was bound to happen because the Red Team performed really well the first two weeks, but the low weight loss numbers are definitely not a reflection of the work they put in.

On voting off someone with her eyes closed: She couldn’t pick one of her teammates to eliminate, so she covered her eyes with her hand, and chose a random picture on the screen. When she found out that she had unintentionally chosen Jackson, she was sad… but she would’ve been sad if she had chosen Lisa or Francelina as well.

On the hardest part of weight loss: She stated thatits easy to fill 2,000 calories with junk food, but it is NOT easy to fill 1,100 calories with good food. She currently sticks to bright, colorful veggies, lean proteins (i.e. chicken, fish), and occasionally lean red meat. She’s still not a fan of spinach and egg whites, by the way.

Cate currently weighs 183 pounds, and is training for her first half-marathon. Congratulations Cate, on all of your achievements so far!

Next week on "The Biggest Loser," one of the child participants will have an intense confrontation with family members, and three contestants will be sent home. Uh oh ...

The face of Patti Stanger has really changed over the years. The Millionaire Matchmaker, 51, has shared a picture of herself as a fresh-faced college graduate with fans on Bravo's website.

Patti has gone under the knife a few times and has had her eyelids done, Botox injections and a breast reduction. She also appears to have veneers. The outspoken TV dating expert isn't shy admitting it either and even went into detail about fixing her droopy eyelids - a condition called ptosis: 'I wanted a facelift. He [her doctor] wouldn’t give it to me,' she told host Andy Cohen.

She also stated that she gets Botox too, but that it's because of the cluster headaches she's prone to (lol). Patti had more advice for those seeking cosmetic surgery, maintaining that the surgeons 'lie' about the recovery time required so 'you better double it.'
