Meet Future Fave? Sevyn Streeter

On track to make her debut in the coming months, Streeter is no stranger to the music business. In the past, she has penned a number of tracks for Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys, Estelle and more. She has also had the pleasure of working very closely with Chris Brown during his career. Now it's her turn in the spotlight. Streeter already released her first single, "I Like It," and says a debut album is on the way.

SEVYN STREETER: Sevyn Streeter is a singer. A performer. A writer. Just a lover of music. I love music. I'm obsessed with it.

ESSENCE.com: You've worked very closely with Chris Brown over the years. What's the best lesson he's taught you as an artist?
STREETER: He definitely taught me to take my time and to not stress in the studio. I'm a little bit obsessive and I'll do a take 20 times. He doesn't really let me do that and it's helped me so much. Even video wise—he was on the set of my video and was giving me pointers on how to come across through the camera. Little things here and there. No matter what arena we're in, he always has some type of advice for me.

ESSENCE.com: You're working on your debut album?
STREETER: I am! It's coming along really well. I've been in with a couple producers—I have more to go in with. So far so great.

ESSENCE.com: What do you expect the vibe to be like?
STREETER: It's going to be very true to me. I'm going to try to be as honest as possible with the records. I was the typical little Black girl—I grew up singing in church. The urban and R&B will definitely be there. That's who I am. That's the type of music I grew up listening to. There's going to be bits and pieces of pop and alternative in there too. I have to be true to all of myself. [But] the core of it is going to be urban and R&B.

ESSENCE.com: Are you writing the songs on the album too?
STREETER: I'm doing a lot of writing. I'm not really trying to write all of the records myself. I'm so not interested in that. I love writing with other writers. We sit in the room and we throw ideas back and forth and that creative process is so much fun to me.

ESSENCE.com: What do you want most out of your career?
STREETER: When I think about the dreams and ideas I had when I was younger, as singer you envision yourself on a stage touring the world. That's how I view it. I love shows and I love performing. I can't wait for the day when I can tour the world and have crazy costume changes and crazy sets and a really great band. That's all I really want.

ESSENCE.com: Where do you get most of your inspiration?
STREETER: It's weird. I like going to the movies by myself. Like just sitting in the back, catching a really good movie. It may not be a movie that your friends want to go see with you. But I love watching movies. I get inspired by them a lot. They don't have a box. Also my everyday conversations with people inspire me. Everybody is different. Everyone has a different take on life, love and relationships. There are a million ways you can sell that story.

nagl @ chris brown but i like her inspiration response and this single

'Bomb Girls' back with big dilemmas for its scarred heroines

TORONTO - When actress Meg Tilly came out of retirement last year to helm Global's period drama "Bomb Girls" it was meant to be a short-term gig.

She signed on to the miniseries believing the project would wrap after six episodes and didn't anticipate what ended up happening: Canadians watched. Global noticed. The network ordered 12 more episodes.

Of course, it was great news for the cast and crew, says Tilly, but she admits to initially feeling more dread than joy when it became increasingly apparent she'd be spending more time in front of the camera.

"I'd come out of retirement — I mean, I hadn't acted for 18 years — I'd done a play and all of a sudden I'm doing this thing and you're supposed to memorize all this stuff and you're block shooting and I'm like, 'I'm a middle-aged woman, what the heck?'" the 52-year-old Tilly chuckled during a recent break from shooting.

"I was thinking: 'How am I going to do it? How am I going to memorize (everything)?' And then they're like, 'Well, yes, you know, six (more episodes), probably. Or eight. Sometimes they do 12.' And then somebody came in one day and said (lowering her voice to adopt an ominous tone): 'Some series go 18 shows.' And I said: 'I would kill myself.'"

Joking aside, Tilly did hope the show would continue, if only so she could reunite with the affable cast and crew who had put so much work into the Toronto-shot series, about a group of women who work at a Canadian munitions factory during the Second World War.

"And the scripts this year are kicking butt. They are beautiful," says Tilly, who was nominated for a best supporting actress Oscar for her work in 1985's "Agnes of God."

"We should be getting the scripts for (episodes) 11 and 12 and it's like Christmas morning — you're waiting (to see) what you're going to unwrap."

When things left off at the end of the miniseries, Tilly's character Lorna had just found out she was pregnant after sleeping with her hunky co-worker Marco.

The action picks up three months later, with Lorna trying to convince herself the baby could be her husband's. But the chances are slim, says Tilly, who notes the once-confident Lorna is now full of anguish and doubt.

"Last year shifted something in everybody and obviously for Lorna as well and she's got some really important decisions to make and the options are limited. You aren't allowed to work in the bomb factory if you're pregnant and it's how she supports her family," Tilly says.

Meanwhile, Gladys is back in the factory after having been fired and her fiance has signed up with the U.S. troops and is headed off to war.

"She's still trying to establish herself as an independent human being that's not defined by her social circumstances and her family and those kind of constraints that she's grown up with," says actress Jodi Balfour, who plays the wealthy former socialite.

"And (she's grappling with) her relationship with James who's now at officer's training about to leave for war, and what that means and what part did she play in that and how responsible is she for sending him to the war."

The saga of Kate and Betty continues too, promises Ali Liebert, whose steely Betty was left heartbroken when Kate rejects her romantic advances and returns to her abusive father.

But just because Kate's back doesn't mean the story picks up smoothly where things left off, adds co-star Charlotte Hegele, who plays the insecure bomb girl with a stellar singing voice.

Regardless, Liebert says fans would be happy to know that her character never gave up on Kate.

"They have such an amazing friendship and bond," says Liebert. "Having Kate back is the best thing in the world for Betty."

"Bomb Girls" returns Wednesday to Global.

New episodes begin tomorrow! Can't wait to have Antonio Cupo's face back on my TV screen. <3

Kathy Griffin Kisses Anderson Cooper's Crotch On National Television

$

No matter what vulgar things Kathy Griffin does on CNN's live New Year's Eve broadcasts, the folks at the supposedly most trusted name in news continue to invite her back.

On Monday night's program, after first telling co-host Anderson Cooper "I'm going to tickle your sack," she shortly after midnight actually kissed his crotch (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Roughly eleven minutes into the program which began at 10 PM, Cooper commented about how on Twitter folks were suggesting that there should be a game that whenever he giggles nervously during the show, contestants have to take a drink.

Then, completely out of the blue, Griffin said, “I'm going to tickle your sack. You can say sack. That's not bad.”

An obviously nervous Cooper responded, “I don't know what you're talking about. I have no sack of gifts here.”

Griffin then suggested the camera pan lower so the audience can see her “naughty gestures.”

When Cooper continued to try and clean it up by again referring to a sack of Christmas presents, Griffin asked, “You’re calling your privates your Christmas presents?”

When Cooper said, “No,” Griffin replied, “That’s typical hot guy. ‘Let’s open up the Christmas presents.’”

But Griffin wasn’t finished with her lewd behavior.

Shortly after midnight, Cooper showed viewers how they celebrate New Year’s Eve in Eastport, Maine.

National correspondent Gary Tuchman reported live that there’s a custom in the town to kiss a statue of an eight-foot sardine that they drop from the museum at the stroke of midnight. People were then shown kissing the sardine.

As Tuchman finished his report, Griffin in the left split-screen bent down and kissed Cooper's crotch.

As she continued to try to kiss it, Cooper asked her, “Did you drop something?”

“No, I was kissing your sardine,” Griffin replied.

“Thank you. I got it,” giggled Cooper.

“I can do it again,” Griffin said kneeling. “I can do this all night long."

“No, sweetie,” said Cooper lifting her back on her feet.

“I'm going on Letterman in two nights, and he wants a moment,” argued Griffin as she went down again.

“I'm going down,” she said. “You know you want to.”

“Believe me, I really don't,” said Cooper as he once again pulled her upright.

“It's after midnight,” protested Griffin.

“I never have,” argued Cooper.

“No one's even going to, what's the big deal?” responded Griffin as she went down again.

“I don't know what you're talking about,” Cooper said pulling her up as he handed it off to Brooke Baldwin in New Orleans.

Is this what the self-described "most trusted name in news" considers acceptable fare?

Consider that during the 2009 show, Griffin dropped an F-bomb. The year before she directed a vulgar oral sex reference to a heckler. Last year she stripped down to her underwear.

Yet CNN keeps inviting her back.

Boggles the mind, doesn't it?

Reunited trio make their live comeback with a secret set at a London New Year's Eve party

The original Sugababes played their first gig since reforming as Mutya Keisha Siobhan last night (December 31).

Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy - the founding members of Sugababes - reunited last year (2012) to record a new album as Mutya Keisha Siobhan. The trio no longer own the rights to the Sugababes name, which is now used by a group consisting of three non-original members.

The reunited trio took to the stage shortly after midnight at an intimate New Year's Eve party hosted by Ponystep magazine in east London. Their performance had not been announced in advance, but some fans had guessed that Mutya Keisha Siobhan would be the event's "Special Guests" because they appear on the cover of the magazine's latest edition.

The group began their secret set with a rendition of 'Overload', Sugababes' debut single from 2000. The group were not backed by a live band at the low-key show, but they showed off their trademark vocal harmonies over a backing track.

After they finished the song, Buchanan noted that tonight's show was the first time the original Sugababes had sung live together "since we were about 15". The trio, now in their late twenties, followed 'Overload' by performing another favourite from the first Sugababes album, the seasonally appropriate 'New Year'.

The group then surprised the crowd by covering Rihanna's 'Diamonds', a song that Buchanan called "one of the highlights of 2012". Mutya Keisha Siobhan wrapped up their four-song set by performing a bass-heavy version of Sugababes' 2002 chart-topper 'Freak Like Me' - which was actually recorded after Donaghy had left the group.

Although the group played no new material, they left the stage promising that the Mutya Keisha Siobhan album will be coming out in 2013. According to Buchanan, it contains "some sick shit".

Shakira to 'Bust Heads,' Usher Promises Strict Style on The Voice

The dust has barely settled on Cassadee Pope's big win on "The Voice" last month, but with big changes in store for the show's fourth season -- most notably the addition of two new coaches -- it's never too early to look ahead. Billboard recently attended a press conference with those newbies, Usher and Shakira, as well as mainstays Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.

Shelton noted that with the departure of Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, the dynamic has "definitely changed" and that throwing Usher and Shakira into the mix has fostered an added competitiveness to the NBC show, which comes back on March 25.

"Cee Lo was always so laid back," Shelton added. "He's kind of been the quiet killer in this thing. We replace Cee Lo with somebody that's just that more aggressive and now you've got four that are killers up here."

Added Levine, "Now you have a pregnant, hormonal Colombian. She's ready to bust some heads. She ain't messing around!"

Skakira admits that recruiting for her "Voice" team has certainly lit the competitive fire in her.

"Once we are in the process of trying to get a contestant recruited for our team, there's a lot of adrenaline and there's a lot of tension." She also mentioned her tendency to micro manage her career,  which she says carries over to her mentoring. "When I'm giving directions to my contestants, I'm particularly focused on details."

Usher described Shakira as a mix of "comic relief, super f-cking serious, and gangster," explaining that "she's so nice now but she really pulls out that switchblade in the battle." He also revealed that his own coaching style is fairly serious. "My style is more military than anything because I'm all about the preparation. My style is to make them understand the seriousness of the craft and that they have the very best opportunity to be the greatest -- or the worst -- depending on how you take it."

Levine explained that Season 4's new coaches have already figured out how to leverage their strengths. Shakira plays the female card a lot -- "That's one thing we can't compete with really so she's  smart" - and Usher likes to remind his fellow coaches of his success with Justin Bieber.

"As much as I hate to say this about another coach in the beginning, Usher has done what this show has yet to do - launch a superstar and that's our goal. That's something we want to do as an  institution."

As the conference wrapped, Shelton agreed with Levine, and Shakira looked to Usher and playfully said, "We all want to be like you when we grow up."

While we'll undoubtedly miss Aguilera's outfits and Cee Lo's eccentricities on "The Voice," the new season looks to be chock-full of entertainment. Season 4 of "The Voice" premieres on NBC on March 25.

Miley Cyrus is blasting paparazzi as dangerous “fools” after a photographer was killed while snapping pictures of Justin Bieber’s car on Tuesday.

The singer-actress has been vocal in the past about her disgust with paparazzi intrusion, and the New Year’s Day tragedy involving photog Chris Guerra set off Cyrus on Twitter.

Guerra was struck and killed when he got out of his car to take pictures of Bieber’s Ferrari, which was being driven by the pop star’s friend and had been pulled over by the police.

“Hope this paparazzi/JB accident brings on some changes in ’13 Paparazzi are dangerous! Wasn’t Princess Di enough of a wake up call?!” asked Cyrus.

She continued, “It is unfair for anyone to put this on to Justin’s conscious as well! This was bound to happen!”

“Your mom teaches u when your a child not to play in the street! The chaos that comes with the paparazzi acting like fools makes it impossible for anyone to make safe choices.”

Watch Sky Ferreira's Home Video-Style Clip for "Lost in My Bedroom

Sky Ferreira is back with another video from her Ghost EP. (She's previously shared videos for "Everything Is Embarrassing" and "Sad Dream". Like both of those, this one was directed by Grant Singer.)
Some of it probably looks familiar, as though it was shot at the same time as the art for the "Everything is Embarrassing" single.

The rest is 1980s-grainy home video-style footage: a mattress on the floor, smoking in dingy apartments, a shirtless tattooed guy, etc.
Also, beware! There are a lot of flashing lights in this video, which opens with a warning about epilepsy and seizures.

Ke$ha talks bi-sexuality & bullying in Seventeen's February 2013 issue

$

Kesha showed her softer side with some super cute kittens in the February issue of Seventeen, where she also had wise words for her animals — and revealed a pretty juicy secret about herself.

Rocking several different, diverse rock n’ roll, bohemian, flowery and just generally pretty looks, Kesha still looked like herself, which has always been super important to her… even when people don’t like what she’s doing. She admits in a behind-the-scenes video that she’s landed on worst dressed lists but that it doesn’t bug her, because it shows she’s doing her own thing.

“I used [negative comments] to motivate me then, and I still do,” she told the mag. “I remember every person who told me I couldn’t do something or that I was ugly or too fat. I have a ‘s— list’ — people from my past who have been soulless and judgmental. Even after I got through my awkward phase, got my braces off and figured out how to dress my body, people in the music business were like, ‘You’re never going to make it.’ I see them now and I’m like, ‘Ha!’ That’s one of the reasons I named my record ‘Warrior,’” she added. “You can be a victim and let that eat your soul, or you can say, You’re going on my list and I’m going to prove you wrong!”

First off, Kesha? Ugly? Fat? Are these people blind? She’s so cute! Still, she takes it in stride when people talk smack. “I’m very much into making fun of myself because other people do it so you have to be able to laugh at yourself,” she said. “The sooner you can laugh at yourself, the easier your life will be.”

That doesn’t mean she’s okay with outright bullying. In fact, she’s adamantly against it. “I’m all about standing up to gay/lesbian/transgender bullying, but it’s also about my little brother,” she said. “He’s 13 and he gets made fun of because he has a stutter. I just have zero tolerance for people making fun of others.”

Another reason K-Dollar Sign may be so against bullying of the LGBTQ community is because not only do they support her, but she identifies with them. She revealed, “I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.”

“I’m very much into making fun of myself because other people do it so you have to be able to laugh at yourself. The sooner you can laugh at yourself, the easier your life will be.”

Julianne Hough: I Was Physically Abused as a Child

By MIKE FLEEMAN

hough_zps3d4492e2-1_zps613f1310

When Julianne Hough was 10 years old, she lived in London, away from her parents in Utah, studying dance.

That's when the abuse began, she says.

"I was abused, mentally, physically, everything," she says in Cosmopolitan magazine's February issue, on newsstands Jan. 8.

While attending the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Arts, she says the adults around her took advantage of her being without parental supervision: "I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer."

"I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life," she adds. "But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love."

The actress, now 24, says the abuse became worse "when I started hitting puberty, when I started becoming a woman and stopped being a little girl."

Her classmates included future Dancing with the Stars pros Mark Ballas and Julianne's brother Derek Hough, both also children at the time. They had formed their own pop music group when Julianne was 12 performing in the U.S. and the U.K.

Hough declines to say who abused her or provide other details.

"I'm a very forgiving person, and I don't want to hurt anybody," she says. "What's past is past."

But the painful emotions surfaced during filming of her latest movie, Safe Haven, opening Feb. 14, about a girl who survives an abusive ex-boyfriend and accepts the love of a widower, played by Josh Duhamel.

During one particularly difficult scene, she says, "I went from bawling to containing to laughing to crying again. Josh was crying. I think it was the most therapeutic moment of my life."

As for her own love life, Hough says that she and boyfriend Ryan Seacrest work to find time for each other around their busy schedules.

"We love what we do," she says. "We take pride in giving it our all, but then when we're alone, we really focus in on going to dinners and being extra-romantic and affectionate and just being there for each other."

HAVING CONQUERED THE BOX OFFICE AND THE TABLOIDS, KRISTEN STEWART RETURNS TO THE SMALL SCREEN IN WALTER SALLES'S BEWITCHIG ADAPTATION OF ON THE ROAD. AS IT TURNS OUT, THE EPIC TALE OF LOVE, WANDERLUST, AND SOUL-SEARCHING DOVETAILS PERFECTLY WITH THE ACTRESS'S POST-TWILIGHT STATE OF MIND

Kristen Stewart is nothing short of gracious. Upon walking into this interview a few minutes behind schedule, she proffers a hug and an offer to “stay until you get everything you need.” There are no publicists, handlers, ringleaders, or beefcake bodyguards hanging around, and she is dressed in 7 for All Mankind jeans and Converse kicks. For the world’s highest-earning actress—last year she dethroned Sarah Jessica Parker and Angelina Jolie at the top of the Forbes list, to the tune of $34.5 million—the lack of pretense is really quite remarkable…not that this is her favorite part of the job. “I really love people,” she says as she hops into a chair and folds her tiny frame like origami. “You can’t not as an actor. It’s just strange meeting someone and going, Okay, you start at square one and I will try and make up for what you already think you know about me.”

The 10,000-pound gorilla in the room is of course that people—present company included—think they know a lot: how much she earns, whom she dates, and even more intimate details. Since her Twilight reign began, digging into Stewart’s personal life has become a bit of a blood sport. (To wit, a gossip rag recently splashed a photo of her with presumed boyfriend Robert Pattinson and announced that she’s pregnant. She’s not.) The Star Wars-esque emotional force field that she instinctually activates for self-preservation is palpable. In this instance, her armor is enhanced by pulled-back hair, glasses, and an oversize bomber jacket that serves as a kind of cocoon. There’s a slightly feral air to her presence—she’s jumpy and prone to pacing—but all the anxiety is kind of endearing. She’s young and excitable, and having weathered the highs and lows of 2012, she claims to feel stronger than ever before.

“I have realized that you can close yourself off to life if you put walls up, but it’s a difficult thing,” she says. “You can’t see over, people can’t see in, and you also can’t see out. So I’ve gotten quite comfortable with just being unafraid. I keep saying the same thing: it’s not about being fearless but really just embracing the fears and using them.”

It’s of little surprise then that she describes her latest project—the indie adaptation of On the Road—as “a fucking amazing experience.” Jack Kerouac’s seminal novel as seen through the lens of director Walter Salles features Stewart as the shy and somewhat guileless 16-year-old bride Marylou. Her husband, Dean Moriarty (brilliantly portrayed by Garrett Hedlund), takes her on a wild ride as they crisscross the country, living to the fullest and then some. The sparkling cast also includes Sam Riley, as Sal; Tom Sturridge, as Carlo; and Kirsten Dunst, as Camille. Amy Adams, Viggo Mortensen, Steve Buscemi, and Terrance Howard make stellar cameos.

“I would have done anything, I would have played any part,” says Stewart. “Marylou is remarkable because she’s got a tough core. When you’re a teenager, a year can be crippling to maneuver through. You’re just out there questioning things, and so to be completely okay with that and not think that there’s anything wrong with you, that’s something I’ve recently understood. I’m 22. Marylou started this whole thing when she was 15.”

When it comes to the Beat Generation’s radical ideology of choosing the life you want to live versus succumbing to bourgeois expectations, Marylou is the perfect pilgrim. She expertly rolls and smokes joints, dances as if possessed by a divine spirit, carouses late into the night, and engages in threesomes with her beloved and his best friend, even efficiently issuing synchronized hand jobs while driving cross-country. But to hear Stewart tell it, the part is only slightly more provocative than some of her previous roles.

“It’s a pretty fucking odd thing to want to pretend to be another person,” she says, “and then have a lot of other people who watch you do that. You have this experience of reading something, and if you don’t bring it to life, you’re basically deleting it. Every day of shooting you’re depriving the world of having that. The responsibility is amazing.

“Until you really get to know the woman behind the character, it’s difficult to connect the dots,” she continues. “I’m a contemporary, sensitive, normal girl, and it’s difficult to try and empathize with someone who seems to have a lack of empathy. She seems a bit callous in the book. She’s literally the farthest…I have never encountered a person that had their nerves so fucking close to the surface.”

Any freshman psych student could draw parallels between the fictional Marylou’s demeanor and Stewart’s protective façade. Delicate and darling, the two of them are also tough as hell. But whether the actress realizes it or not, her defensive posture only makes her more beguiling, by revealing how susceptible she is underneath it all. “Oh, I could have worked with her all week, or done a movie with her,” says Inez van Lamsweerde, who with her partner, Vinoodh Matadin, photographed Stewart for this cover story a short while after compromising photos of the actress with her Snow White and the Hunstman director had surfaced. “We worked with her for a Gap campaign in 2006, and even back then she was extremely intelligent and questioned everything. You could say anything to her and she would respond in a wonderful way. She is that delicate blend of masculine and vulnerable. She is unbelievably beautiful, not just on the outside but also in her being. She gets right in, there is no in between.”

The admiration is mutual. “When you find yourself with people like that, you can really thrive,” says Stewart of Inez and Vinoodh. “It was fun. I would follow them wherever they wanted to go. I had a really good time that day, I was kind of shocked by that.”

Photo shoots and fashion in general have become an increasingly important part of Stewart’s evolution. Together with longtime stylist Tara Swennen, she concocts looks that consistently become much-ballyhooed fodder for the style blogs. Former Balenciaga creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, who hired Stewart to be the face of his Florabotanica fragrance, says that “she is never scared of strong fashion choices, which is very exceptional for an actress. For me she is a true heroine. The fact that we had the opportunity to work on an artistic adventure together is fantastic.”

Fashion, of course, is a huge component of moviemaking, an art to which Stewart was drawn from a young age. She grew up on sets; her parents, Jules and John, still work as a script supervisor and stage manager, respectively. (“I started doing the job because I wanted adults to talk to me,” says Stewart. “I wanted to be on set in a different way than just hanging around.”) After starring in bit parts in film and television, she landed the role of Jodie Foster’s daughter in Panic Room. The Oscar-winner was impressed by the chutzpah and dedication of her younger costar, and has remained a fairy godmother of sorts as she learns to navigate the topsy-turvy world of Tinseltown. Stewart was even handpicked to announce that Foster would receive the Cecil B. DeMille award at this year’s Golden Globes.

On the Road is perhaps the perfect segue to the new challenges on which Stewart is about to embark. There are rumors of a Snow White sequel, but with the Twilight chapter closed, one surmises she is ready to start anew, and she is clearly bracing herself for the next thing—in this case a comedy called Focus, in which she plays a young vixen who catches the eye of a veteran grifter. “The script is really fun and I love the writers and directors, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa,” she says.

Stewart has never conquered the Great White Way, but she’d be up for it. (“Theater is a completely different way of working, but, yeah, I would be very much down.”) She also tosses out the idea of being part of an ensemble cast that would ideally include fellow actresses whose work she greatly admires. (How many starlets do you hear saying that these days?) “There are so many cool girls out there!” she says, name-checking Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, and her best friend, Dakota Fanning.

“I am not closed off to anything right now,” she says, smiling. “That is what I was saying about not having any more walls up. I don’t want to deprive myself of any bit of life.” By the end of our conversation, Stewart is a bit more relaxed—hair down, glasses off, bomber jacket removed—and cracking jokes aplenty. That nervousness she was experiencing before has apparently been channeled. Like a true Beatnik, she is embracing life as it comes.

Photog Claimed Justin Bieber Had Been Smoking Weed

The photog who was killed taking pics of Justin Bieber's car made a call less than an hour before he died, telling someone he was on a big story -- because he claimed he saw Justin smoking marijuana while driving.

A source connected with the photo agency for whom Chris Guerra did freelance work tells TMZ Chris called him at 5:16 Tuesday afternoon. Chris said, "Man, you won't believe my luck. It's pretty dead in L.A.. Everybody thinks Justin and Selena are in Mexico, but they're not."Chris -- who worked exclusively on the Bieber detail -- said he had spotted Justin's car earlier in the day at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills and also saw Selena Gomez's car there. Chris went on claiming he saw Justin earlier in the day smoking what he believed was marijuana from a pipe while driving the Ferrari. Our source says Chris told him he was following Justin back to the Four Seasons and was continuing to pursue what he believed was a big story.

The source says after 20 minutes, Chris abruptly said the Ferrari was pulling out of the hotel parking lot and he needed to hang up and follow it.

Apparently he had no idea Justin was NOT in the car. Our source -- who as we said is connected to the photo agency -- believes Chris was probably "overzealous" at the traffic stop because he believed he was on the cusp of an enormous scoop.

PHOTOG'S LAST CALL: He Absolutely Believed Justin Was Smoking

The last person to speak with the photog who was killed Tuesday following Justin Bieber's car tells TMZ Chris Guerra was quite sure Justin had been smoking pot while driving earlier in the day.

The person who spoke with Chris at 5:16 PM -- less than an hour before he was killed -- did not want us to use his name. He's also a photog who took Chris under his wing, and says Chris was one of his closest friends. He also says he believes Justin is partly to blame for Chris' death[OP NOTE: O.] because of the singer's reckless driving history and alleged pot smoking which made it a big story to follow. Lil Twist Was Driving Bieber's Car When Photog Died

Rapper Lil Twist was driving Justin Bieber's Ferrari when it was pulled over Tuesday night ... moments before a paparazzo was hit by another car and killed -- TMZ has learned.

According to sources, 19-year-old Lil Twist was hanging with Bieber at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills on Tuesday afternoon when, for some reason, he left in the white Ferrari without Justin. Multiple sources tell us Twist -- who is a Lil Wayne protege -- and Biebs have been hanging out and partying together for several weeks now.

They even celebrated New Year's Eve together by popping champagne bottles in Mexico where they're both of legal drinking age. A rep for Lil Twist tells us the rapper did not see the accident happen and sends his thoughts and prayers to the family of the photographer.

Update to this post which was in itself an update to this post. As with anything Bieber this situation is both too much and a mess.

Trey Songz Denies Gay Photo

Rumors have been swirling around for years that suspect R&B artist Trey Songz is a fan of that man-meat. Recently, a photo hit the web that reignited those rumors.

The photo shows a man who resembles Trey playing ‘hide the tongue’ with another young man in the backseat of a car. Well, it looks like Trey wasn't feeling the negativity and took to his Twitter account to shut down the rumor….

                                                                    trey2

YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP!  Trey kinda addressed the rumor without really denying it, eh? However, nay-sayers who don’t believe Trey could ever like it up the poop-chute claim another gentlemen is the gay bandit in the photo.  Hit the flip to check out who the (alleged) man playing kissy face is next…

opkl

According to internet investigators who claim the photo is not Trigga after all, the picture belongs to a man by the name of Enrique Araujo.

Do you think it’s really Trey in the gaytastic photo???

P!nk covers Alicia Key's "Girl on Fire" + being sued for debut album?

P!nk
H!t W!th $36k Lawsu!t
For Past Royalt!es

P!nk forgot the little people on her way up the ladder ... at least according to a new lawsuit accusing her of cheating her ex producers out of $36k in royalties.

A company called Specialists Entertainment filed docs in NYC last month, claiming P!nk signed a deal with them, and Thunderstone Productions, to produce on her debut album back in 1999.

According to the suit, the two companies agreed to split producers' royalties 50-50 ... before cranking out 2 songs, "Can't Take Me Home" and "Hiccup" for P!nk -- real name Alecia Moore.

Well, the album blew up -- selling 5 million copies, according to the docs -- and helped launch P!nk's career. Only problem ... SE says the royalties they agreed to never showed up.

Now, SE is suing P!nk for $36,213.31, the remainder of the unpaid royalties.

A rep for P!nk told us this isn't the singer's problem, because ... "Sony are responsible for paying the producers."

George Lucas Talks Leaving 'Star Wars' Behind

$

As we bid farewell to 2012, we’re surely remembering the highlights of the outgoing year. In the geek-world, there was probably no bigger moment than when it was announced that George Lucas was selling Lucasfilm to Disney, ushering in a whole new era of ‘Star Wars’ films. Since that announcement, we’ve been privy to a series of conversations between Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy, the new Lucasfilm head honcho, and today we have the final video, which you can see after the break.

Fittingly titled “Transitioning Into The Future,” the chat’s moderator, Lucasfilm PR coordinator Lynne Hale, asks Lucas how he’s feeling about the impending “letting go” of his beloved franchise; Lucas appears to be at peace with the decision, while admitting a lot of sadness comes with preparing to retire. (As we’ve heard before, Lucas isn’t exactly retiring from film altogether, but his ‘Star Wars’ duties will be close to nonexistent.)

Kennedy, for her part, is dealing with transitioning into Lucasfilm as its new president, and will be using Lucas’ inherent knowledge of the company to assist her settling in.

You can watch the new video below, and the entire series of videos on Lucasfilm’s YouTube page. And now that we’re saying goodbye to these videos and the year they were shot in, we anxiously await some major news regarding ‘Star Wars Episode 7′, which could very well drop this month.
